@AdamLear RE meta.stackexchange.com/a/344255/377214: now that the number of featured posts has now slipped back to two (and will slip back to one once the CC one gets auto-unfeatured next week), will the number of MSE featured posts be reduced back to two again?

@JourneymanGeek same here, but I've set up a text replacement for easy commenting on Meta:
Android should have similar functionality

What the hell

Heh. I think its a bad idea still

Yes. Hells are for bad ideas.
I'm not even sure it achieves much, other than probably a dozen questions at a time reopened like this, sometimes one of them slipping through maybe
It'd just be adding extra dust motes
> Score and voting capabilities are removed.
I'm not sure I disagree with this one, if the "new language" is a good enough change
But whatever, I'm the wrong person to ask
They're hell bent on fixing SO's image for outsiders, fine
But maybe consider the fact that SO isn't as usable as SO 2014 right now
All of this works towards not alienating new users, but what is being done to attract experts?
And everyone else outside gets the "hostility" thing wrong anyway
What people outside think of the recent dramas is funny. Sometimes it's the community being hostile to the company, sometimes it's the community being hostile to the community, sometimes it's the company being hostile to the new users
Heck, sometimes it's new users being hostile to new users
I guess a sizable portion of the unhappy customers don't care about the who anyway, just that their oneliner question had been rudely, insultingly closed as a duplicate

You need a big microwave for that one, lad

Am I really seeing another "this is what we're going to do, whether you like it or not" announcement? Another "our staff thought about it, but we didn't discuss any details with the community until it was a fait accompli"? If so, then this is an unsatisfying flavor of transparency. — John Bollinger 18 hours ago
No, you're not
Sigh
I get it that I should just shrug off seeing this as "SE brought this upon themselves", but if you're trying to stop good things from happening, you're part of the problem

I don't think the commenter wants to stop good things from happening!

I know, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but if you want a certain behavior from the company, the least is giving them their due when they do it

@M.A.R. I just yelled at General Motors to produce such a microwave. Awesome idea. Love it.

@rene I don't think generals like being yelled at
Try Elon Musk

@M.A.R. Never been in the army, so I assumed the treatment was universal.
@M.A.R. oh, put the microwave into orbit. Good call.

12:21 PM
@rene but you have a king

@M.A.R. Well - trust needs to be earned back
and there will always be people unhappy

@JourneymanGeek SE treading on eggshells will be the last thing to achieve that

@M.A.R. well yes
but

It seems to me that people are asking for change but resent change nonetheless. Interesting situation.

that will take time. And well for every person hiding in comments being grouchy - there needs to be twice as many people talking about it dispassionately and pointing out that the emperor is currently in a state of undress :D

12:23 PM
It's true for me as well, I flinch a bit when I see or hear SE's trying this new experiment
@JourneymanGeek I think he just wanted to show off his abs to make his queen jealous
Typical fairy tale sentiment

All the main sites seem down
nvm

I need to see if there's a way to add twitter feeds to SE chat :D
Chat is acting funny too

@JourneymanGeek TL has a StackStatus feed
...at least room 4 does, no idea about the new one

The new one wouldn't
lemme check tho
hmm
nope?
There's a few third party tools that might work

Q: Has anyone tried to find the wavelength to the Corona virus cell?

Mr GI have seen websites and videos that show how cancer cells can be destroyed using sound resonance oscillation. So has anyone heard of anyone who is in the field of sound resonance trying to capture the wavelength of the Corona virus so we can create a Sonogram machine to use against this virus pa...

I don't like the idea of OPs being able to single-handedly unhide their question by editing it. I've often seen OPs make a minor change that doesn't really improve the question and then ping the close voters asking them to reopen. If they understood how to make the question on-topic & answerable it wouldn't have been closed in the first place.

That's roughly the arguement I made :D

A few weeks ago, we were told that improvements to the notification system were in the works. If close voters could be (optionally) notified on edits to closed questions, that would improve the chances of the question being reopened. Or at least the close-voters could comment on why the edited question was still not up to scratch.
@JourneymanGeek Indeed, and I upvoted your answer. :)

Q: The Follow Questions and Answers feature is now live across the Network

Yaakov EllisWe are happy to announce that the previously announced follow question and answer feature is now live across the Network, including Stack Overflow, all Stack Exchange sites, and all Meta sites. (International Stack Overflow sites will have it turned on in a day or two once we have translations al...

Pretty sure Yaakov is on the other side, as far as we're concerned :D

I just noticed the new follow button on Astronomy, and thought I must've missed the announcement. :)

Oh, I have my 1st inbox notification due to me following something ....
I'll become inbox driven ...

Much like I'm on work ...

I might need to steal one of the feeds/avas from another room for here

3:22 PM
@JourneymanGeek is that a good thing?
@PM2Ring added to our working doc of things to consider, thanks

@YaakovEllis Thanks so much for bringing us this Follow feature. I've been wanting something like this for years.

3:52 PM
@YaakovEllis only if that side's gonna win

Rob
Making it selectable to exclude comments seems too much to implement, so with a dozen follows it will be a Notification Nightmare. At least Favorite was friendly, I have 100's favorited and enjoy the feature. I won't be using Follow, but thanks for responding to the request for flagellation.

4:09 PM
@Rob I guess the point is that no one should "follow" more than five active questions at a time

5:05 PM
Interesting. You can Follow posts on sites that you don't have an account on. I don't know if that's a bug or an intended feature. ;)

5:43 PM
@PM2Ring by design. Prompts you to log in or create an account (and if you do so, records the follow)

5:59 PM
@YaakovEllis Thanks.

@M.A.R. More homebrew science:
> Which are ongoing teams & research on elimination of Corona virus using temperature, humidity & microwaves? Not saying we have a final answer on this but who & where are the ones doing some “let’s heat it up; bake, roast & sizzle this thing testing” Why’s no one talking about this? I am not seeing or being able to find these due to the "overloaded S/N ratio"

10 hours ago, by M.A.R.
You need a big microwave for that one, lad
@Rob I still haven't this one out. Signal/noise ratio? Shit/nice ratio? Science/News ratio? I don't get it

10:15 PM
@M.A.R. Signal-to-noise ratio. There are a lot of people out there spewing a lot of nonsense about COVID-19.

11:02 PM
"New" a decade ago, maybe. Even that video's a bit late to the show -- the ADS was first deployed two years earlier.

Rob
The idea of a big microwave is ancient, lad @M.A.R.

@YaakovEllis yes. Usually
