Anyone else encountering an issue with notifications not staying dismissed?

I can't find a Policy on Meta about approving archive.org links to deleted posts (specifically the -2K post), and am torn between the bumping, archive.org, and the rehashing of approving meta.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/69787 @JourneymanGeek (or other Meta mod).
7:57 AM
@Rob I rejected that edit. Deleted posts are deleted, anyone who want to access those need to get to 10K if they want to read those. On site we don't need to cater for giving access to deleted posts, otherwise we better remove deletion as a moderation option.
This can be re-opened if you ask me as I can answer it and that is definitely about the software that powers SE, as a matter of fact, their markdown parser is opensource.
8:16 AM
@rene Thanks, I agree. If the two parties have resolved the matter and aren't discussing it further that's their choice; harrassing answers out of them is not OK. Whether we should or should not have 10K links (privileges) is a different question, and I can't see why we need people to go through all old posts and defeat the linking and privileges for the sites.
So I chose other and provided this reason: "10K links are for 10K, if you disapprove of 10K links raise the issue on Meta.".
@Rob sound good as well.
The link I provided to @M.A.R. earlier applies here as well...
8:33 AM
@Mithical Yes! It was happening to me earlier. Not sure if it's still going on. At least it's not just me.
@rene Agreed. (Even though I have <10k on MSE as well :P)
...Yep, notification issue is still happening.
8:50 AM
@rene that's a definite no no
Morning all
Here i am, at work again
Almost entirely pointless, except I personally have a project I can work on
but most people here, don't..... so.... will be very bored today.
As per the help center
> Don't abuse this privilege to stir up trouble when someone has wisely decided to remove a problematic post
Wisdom on both ends may be a matter of debate
With something official. Legal even, edits should be absolutely minimal and spelling/grammar
9:35 AM
@JNat long time no cross site spammer... thanks! :)
@djsmiley2kindarkness :(
@JourneymanGeek agreed
@Rob Easter egg?
@Feeds I'm compromising by picking a weird hill to lie on.
Damn straight.
@ShadowTheBurningWizard Damn
It's an African name.
Belgian actually
Never heard of "Damned-claud van Damn"?
Re: Giving +1 rep for to the voter for (indiscriminate) upvoting, this could be the end of civilization as we know it — De Novo 7 hours ago
@JourneymanGeek I only know Poirot
9:48 AM
@M.A.R. and not the great comedian Marzipan? I hear his works are sweet but a little nutty
No I'd forgotten that and you reminded me.
Today we're gonna buy a computer. I want something really durable. Any suggestions?
I doubt I will do much gaming with it but I also doubt my brother would be able to keep away from PC games and retain sobriety.
@M.A.R. I'd still go with thinkpads
@JourneymanGeek Meh, not laptops.
I've replaced most of the function of a laptop in smaller devices.
9:53 AM
Not many options there + I don't know how much avaiability you have there
For this one, space isn't an issue. It could be as big as a room
I've got a 7 year old DIY desktop under my desk :D
@JourneymanGeek No I was just looking for general tips
Core i3 or i5 (NOT CELERON), 4-8 gb of ram, SSD....
"Don't settle for a RAM less than X GB" or something like that.
9:55 AM
I'd go for close to standard ATX as far as possible, mini PCs are hard to maintain
SSD is vaguely optional but great quality of life
@JourneymanGeek Not i7?
It's supposed to be my partner for quite a few years so we're not that picky on the budget.
BTW check this out
Q: December 21st thoughts

Karsten TheisAlmost a year has passed since I first signed up on this site, and I - wearing my "Where in the World?" hat - wanted to say thanks to the Chemistry StackExchange community. During this year, I shared some protein crystallography history, learned how compounds are named to reflect oxidation state...

There's apparently happiness in this realm still.
Do not fret, ring bearer
I think i7 is overkill for 5 year builds
fingers forzed send halp
Relatedly - look up the logical increments guide as a starting point.
I'm probably not going to DIY it though
@Mithical Hahahahaha
No really. Instead of chatting rub your hands together.
10:03 AM
@M.A.R. still gives you an idea of specs
@JourneymanGeek What sort of keyboard do you recommend? Wired? Big? Small?
I will be doing a LOT of typing.
@M.A.R. mechanical
I have had what's now a black widow classic for about 7 or 8 years
You have more options now. When I got mine only cherry made switches
I like cherry blues. Some folks like quieter or different switches
There's also a bunch of clones
10:27 AM
@M.A.R. Egyptian vulture
@JourneymanGeek For me, it's usually that I get used to my keyboard, not that I get to choose the sound
They (the News) were saying that some areas were blocked again. Glad you made it back/out.
Thanks, there hasn't been a blockage here
Tabriz is a pretty dormant city.
It's somewhere between a quaint desolate green British village and the normal "city" you'd be used to.
@M.A.R. well also the feel.
I'll see what I can do
10:32 AM
@M.A.R. the sort with dark secrets and murderous cults? And really good pie?
I'm aiming to get something I'd be using for ten years or what.
@JourneymanGeek Yeah, Hot Fuzz
Except if the cult members were also dormant and too lazy to wear black hoods
There's of course a pretty large gap between the richer parts of the city and poorer ones.
My experience mostly has to do with areas of the city where people do make ends meet but are still far from what you'd call rich. Few financial problems but not a luxurious life either.
And I'm also kinda sick of luxury and what it entails.
Up for fifteen minutes on AU, huh. It truly must be the apocalypse.
I think the better question is, is it possible to watch The Last Jedi and make sense of Rise of Skywalker. I contend that the answer is 'no' — Valorum yesterday
Meanwhile, SciFi keeps being SciFi
Or Valorum being Valorum 😁
Well that's just a given
11:00 AM
how to report stories ?
Oh. Probably contact us
Reported for you. Probably worth asking a question on MSO about it for awareness
@JourneymanGeek, okay. Will post 1 question on MSO
Exactly one units of question. No more, no less.
@JourneymanGeek calling @Journey
Q: How do I flag a developer story for moderator attention?

Juan ScolariI have just seen a developer story that was pure spam. It was just publishing links to a fake movie site. So, how do I flag a developer story for moderator attention?

@Raju ^
@M.A.R. ah. We don't have that on SU or MSE 😁
@Journey ^^^
@JourneymanGeek They're just too scared of you.
11:14 AM
@M.A.R. Thank you reported my own question with spam user profile link as reference
@Raju no hay problema
12:03 PM
@SmokeDetector tpu-
@M.A.R. apparently SE dosen't want any of the non developer tech market :D
12:45 PM
This will be their downfall
they don't want any non-tech market either
12:57 PM
Sanity check
Q: When is the "massive exodus" effective?

KentaroYes, I know the company tne Monica Cellio reached to an agreement, and what day will the self-declared "resignation" take place? I know personally a moderator resigned at Philosophy, and 2 declared the same resignation at the ELL. They all publicly announced their resignation. But nothing looks...

I'm not sure what most of this is about.
Did I miss some kinda mass exodus to a new site, or a mass mod quit, or a conspiracy of mods claiming to quit but not?
@JourneymanGeek if anything, seems misinformed or jumping on a band wagon that already left.
@rene or trying to spark up drama again I guess
that is a side-effect, yes.
meta is not haskell ...

2:10 PM
@ShadowTheBurningWizard I'm reverting my username but keeping the profile image.
2:24 PM
Massively confused user.
gets question closed
gets more angry.
/me just watches
I think they saw lots of people saying they'll quit, and now they're wondering why there's so many mods still.
2:41 PM
"+2 User was removed"
I wonder if its someone I DVed or someone who DVed me
@djsmiley2kindarkness I have my own theories on that bit :D
@JourneymanGeek hmmmm if someone DV's you, isn't that -1 ?
or -10
If I DV its -1, If someone DVs me its -2
@JourneymanGeek people say stuff in anger?
Well that's obvious
and people act in anger
There's something to be said for having good people to grab you by the tail ad pulling you out of situations you will regret.
2:44 PM
and if he DVs 2 people it's -2, and +2 when you get it back - like Q deleted.
Or DV someone twice
@JourneymanGeek Turns out some American football teams have a coach whose job it is to prevent the head coach from running onto the field in anger to yell at officials or draw a flag. I'm strongly reminded of that guy. :P
@JourneymanGeek yas
dear lord, why is work today :<
3:00 PM
Hi y'all! I'm new to The Tavern, so I'll just watch and wait...
wait for what?
/me waves
@rene the bonfires and pitchforks?
.. but two questions: (1) Is/Are Ole Smokey and "rene" the same as in SOCVR? (2) Do you serve beer here?
or do we have to hide those from new comers?
!!beer @AdrianMole
@AdrianMole yes/yes
3:01 PM
@rene - Are you actually confirmining that you are Ole Smokey?
@AdrianMole smokey does report all spam posts network-wide here
I saw that - many posts I have no influence over.
accounts are free
and with 100 rep you can flag everywhere
3:04 PM
… and I get the "101" rep, I guess - so I can flag stuffs?
32 messages moved to Chimney
... oooh! Such power is very tempting. But I'll wait a while...
Think of it: A gold "Marshal" badge on a site on which I have only 101 rep! 😊
Good luck being fast enough
on the contrary
all you need to do is nothing but flag
.. sorry, jet-lag, I'm flagging now?
3:15 PM
@HDE226868 tbh, There's multiple times that'e nearly happened :D
(All in all)
... anyway, I'm done with "Badge Hunting" ... now I'll stick to "Rep Hoarding" (deliberate misspell).
@AdrianMole Its more of a grind in my experience
@AdrianMole I'm at 107 rep on Stack Overflow (three edits) and . . . 440 flags. I think it's doable for you. :-)
@JourneymanGeek That's relatable.
But it's also a service to the community (when done properly).
@HDE226868 with recent events, quite a lot :D

Who upvoted this blatantly off-topic question: how to determine a priori probability distribution of sigama2 in montecarlo simulation?? That's not helpful.
@RobertColumbia I;m doubtful anyone here :D
@RobertColumbia the upvote fairy ...
4:47 PM
@JourneymanGeek yea I think it's cool to have a tail
5:14 PM
@rene heh, Wile E Coyote style checking for empty space below you and then bomb whistling sound to the bottom of the valley
@JourneymanGeek Oh . . . That guy is actually trolling CC @rene
Seems plausible yes
I was writing an angry comment but I just digressed.
I urge you to take a look here (@Sha you too), if you wanna understand slash get even more confused at their stance. My only remorse is that people spent any time on that thread. ell.meta.stackexchange.com/users/17814/…
