Just spitballing here but might as well take advantage of the Tavern on the meta peanut gallery braintrust for a few things.
I had a fairly experienced user/mod express that they really didn't know how to do a MSE post that would be well recieved
they had a specific feature request in mind
I'm thinking of asking them for permission then asking that question, stepping through the elements of how I'd do it
On one hand, a Q&A pair would let other folks share their experiences
On the other I'm not quite sure (ironically) if it would be the greatest fit for MSE

I can't give my opinion since you struck through "peanut gallery".

@Alex Its fine, thrown peanut shells are welcome too

To be honest, I didn't quite understand what you're suggesting.
Are you asking if you should ask someone else's feature request to show them how to do it properly?

1:10 AM
@Alex ah no
I'm asking if a question on posting a good question for MSE is a good idea
or more precisely if its a bad idea and why

hmm... i thought something like that already existed

@KevinB and that's also something I'd wonder about
cause then I'd just post an answer

Q: Common reasons why your meta post may be negatively received

M.A.R.This post functions as a complement to How can I participate in meta and not die trying? As you may already be aware, meta is one such grim place where disagreements happen. It just seems so customary to get at least one post that gets downvoted heavily every day, ranging from frustrated rants v...

well not really

Q: How do I present a proposal for change or write a feature request for Stack Overflow?

KendraI have a great idea for changing parts of Stack Overflow. Upon searching, I see a lot of these questions are downvoted, closed as duplicates, and I've even seen a few get deleted! With this is mind, how can I propose a change to Stack Overflow and not just get shut down for it? Return to FAQ i...

uhm
perfect!

it's on SO, but, it still applies

imperfect but I'd reference that!

Q: How do I write a good feature request?

MutantoeI have a feature that I am interested in proposing. How do I draft a good feature request? What things do I need to include? What should I not do? How do I know if the feature will be implemented? Return to FAQ index

Perfect! Saves me the trouble and embarassment of having it closed as a dupe

Closing your own questions as duplicates with your superpowers is always fun.
I've only done it once.

1:14 AM
@Alex my super power is social engineering ;p

is that similar to social manipulation?

maybe
the fine art of getting other people to do the legwork
now if only it worked with my parents ;p
but they're the masters of it XD
@Alex spammers ruin everything.

I don't think I've yet seen a real spam post about serum.
I feel like they have better words.

Maybe you don't see them cause they get nuked

Fair point.

@JourneymanGeek One of yours being closed as a dupe?

yup
That's fine. I'm just surprised i've never seen it before
especially on meta

@JourneymanGeek you should, err... try to dupe more of your questions...

@MetaAndrewT. I don't post that many questions? ;p
and about 4-5 dupes for 57 questions ;p

10:03 AM
Huh?! First time I see spam survive for 20 minutes on MSE. Guess all the auto flag bots are off?
Usually such obvious spam is nuked in seconds. :(

10:17 AM
@ShadowTheCoffeeWizard well, that's probably the only arguement I have against auto-flag bots
And why I try to keep my hand in with nuking spammers the old fashioned way ;p

The video is 40+ mins long. Anybody watched it? Can anyone share the timespan when Yve explains why she stepped down?

@OptimusPrime uhm. I didn't for that reason

@OptimusPrime what video?

The in her profile
I was watching it but which language she speaks?
The sound of vehicle is terrible and I can't under anything she says

@OptimusPrime She's from Australia, so Australian English
Probably (didn't hear yet)

12:57 PM
I think English is my problem.

Well, accent makes it worse, no doubt.

@OptimusPrime Australian English, the accent is quite strong and I also had a difficulty... while the speech also mixes with various topic of her driving, family, and horses

Maybe ask her to add sub captions to the video? ;)

Why horses not dogs ?

She likes horses, that's not new.
Guess @Journeyman will talk about dogs if making such a video. ;)

1:00 PM
> 1-hour video of Ash running around

She means YT :P

Yvette Tube?

yep

Sounds nice.

1:03 PM
@MetaAndrewT. I doubt he has the energy for that

But she drop diamond :( , drop horse.

@JourneymanGeek a 1-hour compilation of 10-second video of Ash running around then ;p

The sad part is, there's no subtitles in the video

@JourneymanGeek the office dog came back from a week of vacation today
spent the first 20 minutes zooming around the office greeting everyone and then went for a nap

1:31 PM
@Shree I already saw that. I didn't understood anything.

@ShadowTheCoffeeWizard If I quit, honestly - it will likely be me disappearing for a few months and the diamond going away ;)
I'm not much for drama

I've just clicked an unsubscribe link in an email from Facebook. It leads to a 404.

So we shall implement a parser for you which creates an AST, yes? — deceze ♦ 9 mins ago
Yes. @deceze I want to use it for a API request body. — Vogeti Aditya 6 mins ago
It's an OT question and the comment by deceze was sort of sarcastic

Well but that's what the OP actually wants. Proper comment can tell "Sorry but we don't give those things here".

@ShadowTheCoffeeWizard I saw another question in which OP asks how to do x without mcve. Someone wrote a comment asking for code and OP edited question, "I'm new to this. give me some demo links"

"the letter assuaged the fears of most members"

@JohnDvorak GDPR only requires there is such link in the email. It isn't mentioned that the link should work ...

@rene Huh... I smell a question incoming to law.se. Do you volunteer?

I pass on this one ...

@JohnDvorak I'll post a feature request to do so in 6-8 weeks

Narrator: it didn't mean better questions, just more questions from people who NEED interactive HELP rather than an answer.

@410 so what's a better way? As someone who has been on SE since pretty early on - asking good questions isn't easy

I'm more curious about the single "review" interface though.

Unless you want to just have folks quit in frustration

4:31 PM
because the lack of "Here have a lollipop" is why people are quitting!

5:25 PM
I was only offered licorice on Meta.SE. That wasn't very welcoming

They can't serve you liquor ice without seeing your ID card first

!!/liquor

@MetaAndrewT. No such command 'liquor'.

@MetaAndrewT. Art had to take that out after SO tried to prove the Ballmer Peak wasn't true, and created SO Docs

@Machavity If the person offering was Dutch, they must've really liked you though... We don't share anything, especially licorice, easily ;)

5:59 PM
@410 You have got to be kidding
I can imagine some spammer seeing that and thinking posting spam is a real achievement.

We should delay that popup for spam until we're sure Smokey missed it

They are promised a cake instead

@JohnDvorak Great, now I'm wondering how many spammers actually use the guided mode :P

Does the wizard give them any points against Ram?

I don't know... would be great if it could though! Just block anything that's shady...

6:56 PM
@Shog9 can I get your attention? Tim is not in the room

@Sklivvz what's up?

guess
