@SonictheAnonymousWizHog In Russia, audio starts stack overflow.
Which makes more sense, considering how memory-hungry the browsers are.
> The goal of creating the library has long been accomplished. I can't point to a particular moment in time where we passed it meta.stackoverflow.com/a/388445
Sure, but I kind of wanted to have such a moment celebrated in some way... I dunno, maybe a full-page image with Joel under a "Mission Accomplished" banner?
Lacking that, I guess the new logged-out homepage of SO serves the purpose. The site is done, so let's put a wrapper with a bow tie on it.
Then the folks (like me) who only ever wanted that library thing know it's time to ... re-watch all ST episodes in alphabetical order, maybe?
Or in the order of release. Had they done this earlier, I'd probably be finishing Voyager by now.

From what I can see, the new users, the established users, and the Stack Exchange team are trying to pull Stack Overflow three different ways.

As is, I'm stuck in Season 2 of DS9. And frankly, it sucks. So maybe I'm bitter a little. They should have put a bow tie earlier.

@Shree Right now there doesn't seem to be a consensus either way. I'd keep the question open for longer.

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog didn't you had some canned comment for questions like these: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/332332/add-saved-searches ?

7:29 AM
@rene Only if it consists of nothing more than the default generated text that was clearly created from the "feedback" button in the app.
> Please note that when you tap on the app's button to report a bug, you're actually asking a question here on Meta Stack Exchange. Please [edit] this question with further details about your issue, or we may have to close your question as unclear. Also, keep in mind that the iOS and Android apps are no longer under active development, so it may be a long time until your issue gets fixed. Thanks!

ah, okay. Thx

That said, if you like, you can add it to your list of canned comments.

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog yes, a reasonable number of the Dutch municipalities equip their staff with Windows 7 and IE10 with software updates disabled because their critical business apps won't run on anything newer. They keep assuring me that my data and its privacy is guaranteed with their current setup. Dutch government made arrangements with MS to have (paid) extended support for that setup, from my tax money.

@rene IE11 has Enterprise Mode for this explicit purpose, which renders pages like IE8, but if you have software that's too new for IE8 but too old for IE11, I can see this possible

well, sure. It is a bit sad that I'm often have to fight with those setups because my stuff won't run on it.

A: Stack Overflow is not trying to start audio

Wumpus Q. WumbleyThat's enough for me. I'm deleting my account immediately after posting this answer. I can't be associated with anything that doesn't see the evil here. Anyone else? The list starts here: Wumpus Q. Wumbley - SO 18,045; unix.SE 5,015; SF 2,008; + 21 other accounts

How is this an answer?
I wanna get all angry and say I'm gonna use an adblocker, but I haven't been served a single ad since ads got different and I have a generally mixed feeling about this.
The whole thing looks like a laughable sitcom, TBH.
When the girl arrives, she notices that her grandmother looks very strange. Little Red then says, "What a deep voice you have!" ("The better to greet you with", responds the wolf), "Goodness, what big eyes you have!" ("The better to see you with", responds the wolf), "And what big hands you have!" ("The better to hug/grab you with", responds the wolf), and lastly, "What a big mouth you have" ("The better to eat you with!", responds the wolf), at which point the wolf jumps out of bed and eats her, too.

@M.A.R. making a point because we can make a point?

"What a big ad you have" "To better to identify you with!"
@rene Can you though?
It's at best a small black circle. Never a point.

probably, yes.
might be a red circle, free hand

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog uhm. If Yvette wanted to share that here, wouldn't she?

Yeah, good point.
I was thinking that she just forgot, since she hasn't been seen here in a while and she also shared it on general Stack Exchange chat.

@M.A.R. something about loud angry voices...

In other news, one of my old credit cards was made of metal and would thus clog a paper shredder, so I had to burn it

Honestly - I can't really defend this sorta thing. That said I am surprised no one suggested flooding the ad company with GDPR requests
On the other hand, folks do seem a little....

If you have a question that might get a lot of downvotes, post it at the end of the day so it won't ruin the rest of the day.

11:39 PM
@SonictheAnonymousWizHog eh. Sometimes it's worth it
And if your day is ruined by that you need better priorities. Unless it's your job I guess
@SonictheAnonymousWizHog gotta learn to trust folks know what they are doing
Could be intentional
I'm going to delete those.

@JourneymanGeek I was referring to the . A single negatively-received question will make that day cease to count, even if you've asked positively-received questions on the same day.
@JourneymanGeek Sorry.

Likewise with badges ;p
@SonictheAnonymousWizHog it's ok. I trust you had good intentions.

I do have another question planned, one asking why SE just took IAS's word at face value rather than investigating them.
The WOT extension was caught selling personal data that despite anonymization could still be linked to specific people. A German news agency created a fake marketing company and bought some data from them.
@MetaAndrewT. I wonder why you haven't changed your username to "500"

@SonictheAnonymousWizHog I'm pretty certain there's deeper discussions that happened

Speaking of ad fraud, if a game on my phone allows me to watch ads to get free in-game points/money, and I put my phone down and go do something else while the ad is playing, have I committed ad fraud?

11:49 PM
Eh
Or if you mute it?
Donno
@SonictheAnonymousWizHog on one hand, sure to get upvotes. On the other it's unlikely to do much good in general imo
Or more critically it won't get an answer
