@Marshmallow Lysozyme primarily kills gram-positive bacteria, not fungi.
It cleaves peptidoglycan bonds in the outer wall and destabilizes the bacterium.

1 hour later…
2:11 AM
@Shog9 is there an option for a user to CW their entire catalog all at once -particularly without bumping anything?

Erf.
@canon why would they do that?

2:28 AM
To watch the world burn.

Practically CWs, least to me are a bit of an experiment that never quite worked as it should - we have other mechanisms that encourage collaborative edits...
@forest some fire can be good.

2:43 AM
@JourneymanGeek soft rage-quit?

Oh then no
There is no mechanism for it, and will almost certainly annoy mods and other folks

3:17 AM
Morning...
What would I miss?

3:34 AM
a rabbit.

3:55 AM
XD

2 hours later…
6:05 AM
What happend with the constable badge here? I was about to argue it was due to the split but it is awarded in 2018 so that wouldn't hold.

Uhm
Does MSE have constable badges at all?

might not
as traditionally nobody but staff was ever mod there

Did they maybe get awarded a MSO diamond to mark them as staff, and something odd happened with how it was granted marking him a pro-tem mod?

6:21 AM
Yeah, that must be it, I just noticed Before that I worked in AdTech at StackOverflow in their profile.

@Magisch actually I think early tilogy mods modded proto-MSO

may be

I think mith's theory seems plausible
I honestly want some kind of employee indicator ._. .

@Aibobot Yeah, yeah... we all know you'd like to work for SE :P
Morning!

Morning!

6:32 AM
@Tinkeringbell well, also makes it less awkward to post some things as a MSE mod

@Aibobot I know. It would be nice if people could see I'm only a mod :)

@Tinkeringbell also, eh. I try not to keep reminding people of that XD
seems unclassy.

@Aibobot Huh? Seems unclassy to tell people you're just a mod if they mistake you for an employee?

.No, lol
@Tinkeringbell this bit

@Aibobot Ohhh. I'll do that for you then ;)
(I'll stop it. )

6:38 AM
Thank you. I do assure you I will remind folks in an appropriate time and manner...

6:52 AM
@Tinkeringbell I'm pretty sure most people don't know the difference.

@Fabby Yep, so I've noticed too ;)

God... Demi-god... They're all gods!
:D ;-)

*Goddess

@Tinkeringbell Goden.. Half-goden... Allemaal goden!

Hahaha :)
Not fair XD

6:55 AM
(nope: grammar was made by men, so you've got a light disadvantage there...)
;-) >:-)

There's also 'godinnen'. So you're still not getting out of this one ;)

In French it's even worse: grammar stipulates: 100 women, 1 men ===> male
In Dutch you could argue: if there are more women than men in a group, the group is female.
Hold on: plural is always female in Dutch!
Zij zijn...

In Dutch a group is just 'luitjes' :P

@Tinkeringbell :D :D :D
@Tinkeringbell De luitjes zijn... Zij zijn...
@Tinkeringbell Dutch lost the ability to distinguish between male and female, whereas Flemish still has the ability.

@Fabby and that's a problem when I don't actually want to be seen in a position of authority ;p

6:59 AM
@JourneymanGeek You're a dog: you're not really authoritarian: just loveable.
;-) >:-)

@Fabby Oh, did we now? :P There's still some ways to do so, but yeah. It's a lot less gendered than some other languages. Mainly because we use 'de' instead of e.g. the French le/la

@Tinkeringbell And Flemish still has "ne"...

@Fabby Hahaha. Try some dialects here, they're just as weird ;)

Ne vent, nen auto, ne computer, maar een kaars, een vrouw, ...

@Fabby some people have trouble getting that concept ;p

7:01 AM
male, male, male, female, female (obviously)
but "meisje" is gender-neutral...

@Fabby same in Hebrew, but it's not a must.

(het meisje)

@Fabby lolwut

@Fabby wow that's a lot of people

@ShaWiz So it's not described as such in the grammar?

7:03 AM
@Fabby Can just as well be 'een meisje'.

@Fabby it's not set in stone

@ShaWiz Ah! In French it is...

Poor French! :D

Yeah. The only stuff I got wrong on French tests was using le or la instead of la or le.
Kinda sucked. I was great at learning words, just not at remembering whether they were considered male or female ;)

Reminds me, got a question about God is a Woman which I planned to ask in Music (Fans /cc @Meta ;)).SE and forgot lol

7:04 AM
@Tinkeringbell the difference between "a" and "the": if it's specific (touch, see, ...) it's "the" if non-specific: "the"...

@Tinkeringbell so you'll have trouble learning Hebrew too... :/

@ShaWiz I like the joke about computers being female...

@Fabby ?

@ShaWiz I mean... Duh. I can't even read Hebrew :P I know a few words though I can't properly write them :P

@Tinkeringbell good words or bad words? ;)

7:06 AM
@ShaWiz Mostly good I think? They're words that I learned through Church :P

Why computers are female:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

@Tinkeringbell ohh.... like?

@Fabby I'll let you know I never need half a paycheck worth of accessories!

@Fabby rofl.... good old joke.... which becomes less and less appropriate as time goes by. :)

Lo, ken, shalom, Shekel, chassid are the only Hebrew words I know.
@ShaWiz There is also the male version:

7:08 AM
@ShaWiz There are far worse jokes that have become less appropriate over time. :P
cough resistor color code mnemonics cough

Why computers are male:
1. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but they are still clueless;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you'd waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

@ShaWiz Shabbat, Shalom, Pesach ;)

@forest :D :D :D

:p
Hey, at least I'll never forget the order of the colors!

@ShaWiz I only know "God is a Girl"...

7:13 AM
@MetaAndrewT. buh... YouTube thumbnail for God is a Woman is NSFW a bit
@Tinkeringbell no Sukkut? :(

@ShaWiz I don't think so, no.. what's that?

@Fabby guess that one is still fine all around. LOL
@Tinkeringbell another major Jewish holiday

@ShaWiz I thought he was a slob

Sukkot (Hebrew: סוכות‎ or סֻכּוֹת, sukkōt), commonly translated as Festival of Tabernacles (traditional Ashkenazi spelling Sukkos/Succos) also known as Chag HaAsif (חג האסיף), the Festival of Ingathering, is a biblical Jewish holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the seventh month, Tishrei (varies from late September to late October). During the existence of the Jerusalem Temple, it was one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals (Hebrew: שלוש רגלים‎, shalosh regalim) on which the Israelites were commanded to perform a pilgrimage to the Temple. The names used in the Torah are Chag HaAsif, translated...

;-) >:-)

7:14 AM
@ShaWiz Does it coïncide with any Christian ones? :)

@Fabby classic!

>mfw no atheist holidays

@Tinkeringbell don't think so, that one appear to be unique to "us". ;)

@forest 4th of july? ;p
We have roughly 2 per major culture here

@ShaWiz Oh, the thing about palm booths sounds familiar, that might be in a story somewhere. But I don't think the name Sukkot is used in the Bible.

7:16 AM
That's an American "holiday". :(

@forest Mother/Father Day?

@Tinkeringbell palm sunday?
@forest labour day?

@Tinkeringbell it is, in the original Hebrew form...

though there's an american labour day and everyone else...

Oh that works.

7:17 AM
@forest Haloween is a pagan holiday!

@ShaWiz XD true :P Not in a Dutch one then ;)

But atheism is not paganism!

@Aibobot No, Palm Sunday was a few days before Pesach.

@Tinkeringbell hehe... probably

(It's probably the most secular of holidays though)

7:17 AM
@forest I know, just pointing out the opposite...

@Tinkeringbell don't forget christian holidays often got arbitrarily got shifted around ;p

Atheism is the belief that no deities exist

@Fabby yup

(I always found that funny, so I'm an agnostic)

as opposed to agnotism... which is "I'm not sure which deities exist" ;p

7:19 AM
That's a common misconception. Agnostic is an adjective.
You can be an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist.
But there is no such thing as just plain "agnostic".

You want to believe god exists? fine! you want to believe god does not exist? also fine!

I just have no belief either way, so I'm an atheist. :P
Default positions are nice.

@Tink in case you want deeper look, here you go.

In a way, we're all atheists. I just believe in one less god than Christians. :P
(I forget who first said that. Richard Dawkins or something)

@forest There is: me: I respect anyone's belief as long as they don't try to convert me to theirs
so I'm "an agnostic"...

7:21 AM
@Fabby Agnostic what? Agnostic just means "without knowing".
Are you an agnostic flat Earther?

@forest That would be hilarious...

Well, they exist. They're rare though.

There are also those who drink soap to cleanse themselves.

Most people who say "agnostic" just mean "agnostic atheist".
But for some reason they want to distance themselves from the term atheism.
More politically correct, I guess.

@forest I'm not an atheist: No one can prove the existence of god(s) nor can they disprove them.

7:23 AM
@ShaWiz You're saying you don't wash your esophagus with soap and water after going to the bathroom?

so I don't let them influence my life.

@Fabby Well, do you believe in a god in a gnostic sense?

@forest I don't disbelieve in god(s) neither.
I just carry on...

That's not agnosticism then. That's apathy.

@forest :D :D :D
@forest I'm an agnostic apath!

7:25 AM
Agnosticism needs to be combined with either atheism or theism. If you don't explicitly believe in god, then you're either an agnostic atheist or a gnostic atheist.

IOW if you had a multiple-choice question "do you believe in a god?" with the answers "yes" or "no", then you're either a theist or an atheist. The "how strongly do you believe you are correct?" question is what determines if you are agnostic or gnostic.
You can hate the label all you want, but it's the correct label!
@Fabby Well technically you can, if you define "god".
Most definitions are too vague though.

@forest In a multiple choice Yes / No I'd add Maybe
:P

@Fabby Oh that's not agnosticism either. That's agnostic theism.

@forest defining god is something that has kept many theologists up all night

7:27 AM
@forest my what?! lol... anyway, it's real. (well, bleach, not soap.)

@Aibobot And here I am with insomnia that keeps me up all night...
(esophagus = throat tube you eat from)

@Aibobot :D :D :D Now we know: Forest is a theologist!

If you're a good enough hacker you can become a god. :^)
Just watch Serial Experiments Lain!

@ShaWiz Holy shit! People do this??? Wow!

People do all sorts of weird shit.

7:29 AM
@forest when using the bathroom I don't use that body part so no, I don't wash it. ;)

@Fabby yes indeed
@Fabby only flying pizza

If people set themselves on fire because some YouTube idiot "challenges them"...
People will do anything.

@ShaWiz See edit...
OK, I need to split! Work calling!

Is that whole "challenges" phenomenon still going on?

7:31 AM
TTYL8R!

o/

@forest sure, latest major one was to open a bottle in creative ways
Lots of politicians did it here.

Well that doesn't sound as dangerous as the others.
I guess the Darwin Awards: Kids Edition is coming to an end. :P

Ah yes, politicians trying to look young and hip...

7:34 AM
One famous model here did it with, well, his penis. And uploaded to Instagram.

That's always funny to see (the politicians thing, not the penis thing)
lol wow

He was really surprised why there was uproar, and of course deleted it after few minutes.

Well was he an adult model or some other model?

I saw only censored version, still showing some other parts.

cue funky jazz music

7:35 AM
@forest not adult model, ordinary model

heh
Kind of weird that he'd do that then.

oh he's also an actor, didn't know that. lol
Michael Mario Lewis (Hebrew: מייקל לואיס‎, born 21 December 1987) is an Israeli actor and fashion model. In summer 2007 and winter 2008 Lewis was modeling for the Israeli clothing company Fox, with Esti Ginzborg. He appeared in fashion shows for Castro, and has been on the cover of several Israeli magazines. In early 2010, he and professional dancer Anna Arronov were the winners of the fifth season of Rokdim Im Kokhavim, the Israeli version of Dancing with the Stars.In 2011, Lewis was chosen by E!: Entertainment Television as one of “The 25 Sexiest men in the world”, next to George Clooney and...
@forest I really think he's just really, really, naive.
He thought it will be seen only by his close friends.

wow
Plus one stupidity point.

yup
