It is the same day still =/
Besides, there are probably only a few people who could fill Jay's shoes, and I don't think they are external. Could be, but I don't think so.

user302202
This stuck in memory partly because of the last words here: Joel does not have children afaik, and why would Jeff's children be in control of the company?

user302202
But also the vision of a group of evil execs standing around Jaydles' grave.

A very short reputation league for the year: stackexchange.com/leagues/682/year/augur

I just got 'Announcer' badge, but I can't find the comment that got me it... only took 6 years ;p
And neither of my 2 answers on Aviation have links in them...
bump just to see my score
yikes

user302202
@Mazura The badge page shows the question that you got it for: aviation.stackexchange.com/help/badges/59/announcer?userid=3497

user302202
You must have shared a link to that question somewhere, possibly outside of SE.

Oh it's site wide?
That'll take forever to find.

user302202
It's internet-wide.

user302202
1:34 AM
Originally these badges excluded traffic from SE sites, although with HTTPS switch this got dropped.

Yikes. Well this is as close as I get to social media, so it's prob here somewhere.
Prob on world building. 25 people didn't come back to upvote it or I'd know ;)

user302202
How would you know about upvotes, if it's not your post?

user302202
This one should also be nuked, same troll as in Smokey's report.

user302202
gone

@MSOGA As far as you know, do the Announcer-series badges check XFF headers (so that multiple people using the same ISP that uses dynamic IPs and happen to be assigned the same IP get counted properly)? Also, is there any sort of IP blacklist (e.g. to prevent people from using VPNs to game the badge)?

1:45 AM
but it could be a link in a answer though

user302202
I don't know how hard they work to prevent badge gaming: this post seems to be the only discussion of abuse, and it does not have technical details.

Is there a maximum possible size for an airplane? Once you have to start taking into account the curvature of the Earth, you should probably rethink your plans. — Mazura Dec 14 '16 at 2:57

user302202
It's a link to an answer, which also counts (the badge page does not specify whether the badge was for linking to the Q or an A)

user302202
Found with Google search Is there a maximum possible size for an airplane? stackexchange +mazura

@MSOGA wow tx. +2 is pretty far from 25 ;)
"+ mazura" I'll have to remember that

user302202
Well, they clicked the link - that does not imply they liked what they found there, or found the comment especially useful.

Even if they did, they'd have to come back to it.

user302202

Also, the majority may have been visitors without an account or without reputation to upvote.

I used to do a lot of 'linking'. Apparently it all sucked except this one ;)

Q: Gathering ideas for the site design — 2019 edition!

JNatIn late 2017 we were asked if a design for this site was being worked on or not, and at the time the design team was stretched pretty thin, to the point where I wasn't able to provide this community with a reasonable and realistic ETA for when they'd be able to work on it. But now I'm back with...

@Bookends that 'bus stop' one is sweeeeeeeeeeet

Journey you sneaky bastard, hehe
Also morning
Nothing like the smell of a fresh this community is "WAY TOO HARSH"!!! in the morning

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I'm a sneaky sneaky fox dog

6:05 AM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ FYI I opted for "too broad"

6:23 AM
More so cause I posted an answer off my phone knowing it would be closed ;p

6:53 AM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ also personally I think questions like that should get a calm, balanced response
@Tinkeringbell so... I spotted what I think was a red (and a blue) macaw on my way to work
probably escapees but its curious different varieties microflocked

writes 'SO is too way harsh' meta post while laughing maniacally

@Bookends eh. I wouldn't really notice ;p

@JourneymanGeek might be, I'm currently on my way to work ;)

(there's actually a breeding colony or 3 of cocatoos... soooo)

I know Meta and So is a tought crowd: is this pun understandable in English: "From 4 sides to few millions aside: The evolution from a polygon to a Carlos Gon.".

7:09 AM
Who is Carlos Gon?
Actually it is completely unintellegible to someone who is vaguely a nativeish english speaker

Renamed Carlos Ghosn. ceo of Renault nissan. in jail in japan

The evolution from a polygon to... gone with the wind

errrrrr
Nope
still makes no sense. Catches no ball. Rings no bells....

@SonictheWizardWerehog Nice try, but the system implies otherwise and the reason is pinned onto your forehead for eternity

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ My name doesn't show next to the "specific reason", though.

7:16 AM
Still pinned
@xdtTransform Few millions aside? What does that mean?

From "put money aside" as he snatch few billion.

It's before Circle-gon becoming a perfect Circle.

Uh, nope. That sentence fragment doesn't work for me
But I'm a nonnative speaker, so

How many are English native speakers on this chat room!?
(I'm not)

French. I count for 2!

7:21 AM
Me neither

The joke was in "multiple side" => "money aside". I'm sad I failed my pun. English pun are so hard! I will tell the joke all day to any English speaker I found in the office till one laught. I will get a laught at least a nervous one. I will wait that a more famous Ceo with a name in -Gon get to jail.

@Bookends Not me
Morning, and happy pi day!

@Tinkeringbell and happy 3.14 to you

@Magisch Thanks! I think I'll make it work ;)

@ShadowWizard All gone :)
@Mithrandir Doctor's visit?

Yep. Just the last in a long series

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ it is a mix of several requests and rant, surely off topic but agree the close reason of "does not appear to seek input and discussion from the community" is totally wrong.
It does seek input, but in a bad and wrong way.
Too broad can apply, as it asks for several things at once.
The other users (not Sonic) who closed are less familiar with SE/MSE so can't really blame them. But meh... it's closed as it should be.

@ShadowWizard familiar dosen't necessarily mean right. Or on this case sharing the idea of the best way to deal with it

8:39 AM
@Mithrandir new glasses are arriving?

and honestly? both approaches can be right

@Tinkeringbell all two? Thanks! :D
@JourneymanGeek yeah, we all make mistakes, no doubt. :)

@ShadowWizard is it though?
Each person acted on what they felt was the best read of the situation
I knew it would be closed and snuck in an answer which I could edit. I assumed the user was frustrated and probably was a little lost with how SE worked
One might also assume the user wanted to rant

@JourneymanGeek you could post the answer after it's closed, no need to sneak and hurry. ;)
@JourneymanGeek that's my assumption, hence my downvote.

@ShadowWizard true, but the true test of power is knowing when not to use it.

@Mithrandir nice!

@ShadowWizard no, got new glasses a few weeks ago. This is because the army wants info

@JNat long time no cross site spammer! Have fun... ;)

@ShadowWizard And a few extras :P

@Mithrandir ohh.... those checks. Have fun... :P

8:55 AM
@ShadowWizard do they do the "turn the head and cough" ?

@Tinkeringbell oh, yeah I report only old (>1H) questions with <-8 score which can stick for days as they're off the homepage.
@JourneymanGeek sure. And a check where you're required to stay only with underwear, think they then check the weight and height, probably also checking for any skin problems. For me it was over 20 years ago so don't remember for sure, if and when @Mith will go through it, he can give more details. :D
free NAA flags, hurry before it's deleted! ;)

@ShadowWizard what site is that even from?

@ShadowWizard Cool. I just delete everything :P

@JourneymanGeek not SE.... looks like some mockup/dev tools trick.

9:18 AM
@ShadowWizard gone ;)

@JNat thanks!

I hope that isn't too bad, keep us updated?

I've got a hole in my retina, they want to poke lasers at it

@Mithrandir never a good thing to hear. I hope you'll end up OK

@Magisch not allowed, but possible due to imgur bugs, which only get worse over time.

My dad had that happen

I mean, it shouldn't be too bad... my mother has six. Apparently extreme myopia causes it.

@Mithrandir Still, those holes can come with serious consequences. So get it checked out, and I hope they're indeed not too bad :)

@JourneymanGeek well SE officially ban animation in ads, so I want to believe they'll ban it officially in avatars too, if it comes to that.

@ShadowWizard though, ads have a erm...
whassname
A bad ad/annoying ad makes a worse impression of the network
also $$$$

So annoying avatar will "just" cause people to downvote the user based on that? Not good as well.

MWAHAHAHAHA

@JourneymanGeek Wh ass name? That's a nice way of putting it

or edit the audit message into something different to break the cycle

that's precisely why troublemakers get made ROs

@Magisch Then move it to trash, causing an exception

10:49 AM
becoming a RO .... mellows you
The "I need to be an example for others ... if I do it, they will too, and I won't have a leg to stand on to ask them not to ..." permeates every time you want to type something contentious or in anger

Types something contentious in anger Y U SAY I NO TREBLEMAKER

@Magisch Ehhh...
In some cases ;)

Well, FWIW, being an RO of a few rooms made me more likely to type something contentious, not less
I pwn dis place naw

Its less "I own this place" and more "If I fail to keep this clean I'll be held accountable before the users are"

GAAA
Journey's apostrophitis is contagious
Tempted to give in

10:55 AM
I mellow you!
@Magisch becoming a mod also mellowed me

TIL everyone in this chat is a mush

Q: Did India shoot down any Pakistani F-16 on 27th February 2019?

user366312According to DG ISPR of the Military of Pakistan, Gen. Asif Gafoor, on 27th February 2019, Pakistan Air Force's jets engaged IAF's jets and "shot down two IAF jets". On the same day, India claimed that they shot down a Pakistani F-16. In the video it could be seen that, during the press briefing...

Now these guys
Guess some people were too impatient for a drama
Can't say I'd take any sides though, Pakistan has been an arsehole to Iran whenever they got the chance
And India makes lame movies
Just FYI, I found this by googling "Snowman touchscreen game" which led me to this video. I then searched for other people who were talking about this video and found it referenced here. Although the poster didn't know the name of the game, they mentioned that they'd played it in McDonalds which led me to search for "Touchscreen game McDonalds Snowman" which led me to this video with the name of the game. — Valorum 18 hours ago
Can't say I always meet eye to eye with Valorum but I really admire their doing this

Still waiting for "my great question was unfairly removed from HNQ" meta complaints

user302202
I guess that will be when IPS goes back in the list.

@Mithrandir hooray!

@MSOGA I don't think so.
@Mithrandir \o/

11:58 AM
@Tinkeringbell current meta voting says it would go back on the list, no?

@Magisch Oh, that's probably going to happen. I'm just saying I think there won't be a need to wait for 'unfair removal from HNQ' complaints until then ;)

Is there a revision history item when a question is removed from HNQ?
If not, is there a timeline item?

no and no afaik
and moderator exlusions from HNQ are invisible outside of mod tools

> In addition, an event will be logged in the post timeline and edit history that indicates when it was removed and by whom
for mod removed ones
It's in the question.

:o

12:03 PM
They even wrote down what happens to questions that age out of HNQ, but I trust those interested to be capable of looking that up themselves

Is that event only visible to mods? Asking because of : meta.stackexchange.com/a/325163
and the subsequent discussion

Post doesn't say, I assume it's not mod-only

@Tinkeringbell I missed an important word there, public
@Tinkeringbell Browsing a revision history or timeline while logged out will confirm or deny it.

@SonictheWizardWerehog Go ahead, and make sure to let us know :)

@Tinkeringbell Not a mod
Seeking out a test question that was removed from HNQ manually would be difficult.

@SonictheWizardWerehog I'm not a mod either when logged out...

@SonictheWizardWerehog I'm pretty sure that since the "became hot" is public, the "removed from hot list" would be public too. Like bounty removal notice.

I'm not a mod outside my two sites ;p

@Tinkeringbell If they are publicly visible, how can I search for and find a question with such a revision history item? If they're not, it would be impossible for me to test in any way.

the "93%" meta post is currently having... 1% hotness

12:21 PM
?

Point was, if you see the revision history/timeline item when logged into your mod account but don't see it when logged out, it's not visible.

@Bookends meta sites are excluded from HNQ so.... not relevant anyway?

@SonictheWizardWerehog "entering HNQ" is ID 52, "removed from HNQ" is probably ID 53

@Bookends It's been less than a week since the new feature has rolled out; it rolled out after the last SEDE update so I can't query for that.

but no particular HNQ have been removed yet, so...

12:23 PM
@Bookends that we know of...

well, try to make one HNQ on Android.SE, and I'll remove it ;p

I actually do have a pending question for android.SE, about Huawei step count on lock screen.... but need to research if it's trivial first, still didn't have time. lol

There's a few on math.

So the whole argument with Mr. Paradox was pointless anyways

@Bookends heh. Reboot of the device? I did it only once ever since buying it few months ago. It's being reset at least every few days, maybe every day, but pretty sure I saw days where it didn't.

Okay. I've noticed this more and more so let me make one thing clear: I am the parrot here!

@ShadowWizard that's what the Android SDK does, but certainly any apps/vendors can customize/workaround it until it confuses users...

IMO hand selection of posts for Twitter promotion, with three levels (users, mods, CM) is not worth the effort.
