Is there any way to enumerate all the hyperlinks posted by a given user?
Other than literally scraping the HTML of all their posts and parsing it.

Morning
@forest don't think there is

Use the API? Get all their posts and pull links out of that?
very possible, Python+bs4 would make it easy
or ruby+mechanize

11:24 PM
@fbueckert NASA did once switch measures, lose a probe to an upside down sensor and lose manned flight capacity....

@JourneymanGeek Even for your own posts?

I think it's a search thing rather than a privacy thing
@EvanCarroll that's a deeply inappropriate thing to say Evan

lmao

What can I say, some people on this site have gone above and beyond to treat me specifically inconstantly with the rules of the site, and they make no attempts to defend their actions.

So someone tl;dr me on the drama here?

11:28 PM
sigh this is hard to do on mobile.

Evan was prohibited from running in an election because he had been suspended on the network in the past year, as per standard election policy.

It's just starting

Clearly, he disagrees with this policy.

StackOverflow wanted to stop me from running in elections, so when they knew I was going to win they hard-coded another rule so anyone who was suspended from any site on the network within the last year, regardless of the one that they're running for -- they would be suspended from the elections.

Oh wow
Well that's fucked up.

11:30 PM
Ooooh kkkk

You're not that famous, Evan :P It wasn't you that rule was put in for

That's untrue
@ArtOfCode let's not feed him

So I'm in the top 5% of like most of the sites on this network, and the top 1% of a many of the networks so of course during the year, I slip up sometimes and sometimes people fail to deescalate and then sometimes (like in the case of the poor moderation on SuperUser) it's just straight up not my fault. Anyway, if you link your accounts you can't run in the election. If I unlink my account I can. Afterward. But, that's just silly.

@JourneymanGeek om nom. You may want to clarify which message yours is responding to, btw.

In general

11:31 PM
Despite being the only person on this network who has express written permission from the owners to sockpuppet, I refuse to do it. I AM EVAN CARROLL. Etc.,

I don't get why suspensions should prevent you from being elected.
If your suspension is over, your punishment should be done.

@ArtOfCode yes. it was. It was even in there. I believe they straight out said it. This rule effects "pretty much Evan" etc.

No need for lingering penalties.

Right I'll get someone else to deal with message moving.

11:32 PM
And, this isn't the first time anyway. The question and answer-ban btw, was totally created for me.
@forest that was the original idea.

You sound like quite the infamous individual.

I don't really think we should encourage Evan's fantasies here
2

Since when is "encouraging fantasies" something people get kicked for? see what I mean. It's the information and the failure of moderators to want to engage anyone who disagrees with them.

@EvanCarroll FWIW, @EvanCarroll, I'm pretty sympathetic to the idea that people who joke about drowning other users they've had disputes with should not be moderators

What is it you disagree with?
Is there some longstanding disagreement with moderators in play?

11:37 PM
No it's threatening to kick mods. And intentionally baiting people

There are quite a few.

@EvanCarroll Though I'm curious - what got you suspended on superuser that was "straight up not your fault"? Tales of moderator misbehaviour are interesting.

What's wrong with kicking mods? I mean if it's in a room you own...

@MarkAmery Evan's trying to bait Geek. I will guarantee you that nothing untoward happened.

11:39 PM
I seem to recall it's impossible
But @ArtOfCode probably knows

@forest Most of the time, you simply can't kick mods. It's not an option available in moderation tools on moderators.

@MarkAmery I asked about 10 questions on StackOverflow, in agreement with StackOverflow moderators we migrated them all to SU. They're still there, look up TempleOS. They were all purely technical and they fit with the theme of theme of the sight. In fact, many of them have gone positive since the drama.

Ah, I had forgotten that Journeyman was a Super User mod.

Gee. It's my one claim to fame

Wait, is there something wrong with TempleOS? Is Terry Davis taboo here?

11:40 PM
They were closed, and I had to fight to keep them open. That was perfectly fine, it's part of the process. But it's important that the group responsible for closing all of them, were moderators, and users in the chan. They organized resistance to all of my questions specifically. They didn't even bother closing other TempleOS questions on the network.

@EvanCarroll I spoke up for you. And you have constantly made me regret it.

So then months later I got into ReactOS, and again asked questions. And, again the same treatment. The same problems from the same moderators, and the same users.
@MarkAmery now go on and ask the moderators from SuperUser why my questions on TempleOS were closed? The answer I was given is that they were closed because ReactOS is BETA. But, keep this in mind -- that's not a rule, it's not applied to any other piece of software.
Moreover, the actual staff of StackExchange told me the questions were on topic at SuperUser. It's just those mods don't like me, and that's the problem.

To reactos's defense I've literally been waiting a decade and half for them to hit beta

That does sound like a problem.

meh

11:44 PM
@forest The policy was enacted not because all such users are inherently bad, but to prevent drama from people bringing up past suspensions as they derail discussions.

@EvanCarroll Looks to me like it was not only you targeted with closures of ReactOS questions: superuser.com/q/809101/216917

Just to say - every one of those decisions was discussed , primarily on meta

But why ban TempleOS questions?

@forest I suspect Journeyman's response to that will be go and read Meta :P

I'd need a link since I'm so not going through all the Meta posts on TempleOS.

11:47 PM
also, I don't think they are banned? Many are open: superuser.com/questions/tagged/templeos

Especially with users with a long history of certain classes of action it is essential both to give then a fair shake and not let us be bullied into certain courses of inaction

Anyway, @EvanCarroll, did you then get suspended on Super User? What for?

That's to say I'll never act on Evan being Evan, unless he is giving cause.

Inconsistent and capricious decisions about what justifies closing questions are unfortunately common on Stack Overflow too; I have had many moments of impotent rage when I've not been able to protect good questions I wanted preserved from the prevailing whims of the day

11:51 PM
That's one reason I'm glad I don't use SO.

But as such, it's kind of unremarkable to me now, even if the decisions about question closure were every bit as wrong and unprincipled as you say

i mean, a lot of garbage questions get good answers every day. it's unfortunate that people spend so much time on garbage questions.

@EvanCarroll how did that lead to your latest suspension?

@MarkAmery I don't think temples will ever make it mainstream but I look forward to the day haiku and reactos are viable, usable options

I am sympathetic to the idea that the network is so large and varied now that bans in one place on the network will tainting your account on dozens of other communities is pretty harsh.

11:54 PM
Reactos has basically had more interesting drama than exciting development

@JourneymanGeek Nah, one day, everyone will be using TempleOS, and praising god's temple. It's just a matter of time before we all learn the true beauty of 640x480 16-bit color and no networking (because god said so).

@SomethingBadHappened He's been auto-suspended for offensive content FYI

Now you are just trolling

Sarcasm != trolling. I'm stating what Terry Davis believes. :P

Auto-suspended? I don't remember that being a thing. (I'm assuming question bans aren't what we're talking about..)

11:55 PM
Anyway, I'm gonna kill some zombies before bed. I'll read the rest of this convo in the morning and see if there's a big reveal about all @JourneymanGeek's evil abuses of power.

(actually haiku is a great example of mature obscure os Dev)

@SomethingBadHappened If one of your chat messages gets deleted from spam/offensive flags, your chat account gets auto-suspended for 30 minutes.

@MarkAmery I got accused of that once on mse :p

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog ohhh, he's been suspended from chat. I thought you meant he was automatically suspended from Super User, blocking him from being a mod.

I believe Shog said that chat suspensions aren't considered towards being suspended in the past year.

11:57 PM
Are there any elections on now?

user194636
America has something going on I believe
3

Ahh politics

@PaulWhite all I can do is star

user194636
happy to help 🙂
