@Somewhat ooooohhhh, you don't know how I hoped someone would say that.... Because I have a very painful answer ready for you then :P
Remember that old fairytail about our system being optimized for finding pearls in sand?

Sorry, not gonna work for pessimist like me :P

Well, if the above is true it turns out the truth is another, far less awe inspiring one
> We are optimized for finding funny shaped chips in a chips bag
Isn't that just great?

> We are optimized for finding funny chips bag.
looks more proper to me~

nah, mine is more fitting.
It is like you were hungry, wanted to eat a chip and instead of choosing the most tasty ones you picked one based on the shape

Interestingly-shaped chips do taste better.

Let's see if this time the reviewers read the edit summary...

The description seems fine to me
if on the lengthier side

ah, the double binds
No caps? You can't expect people to generally bother looking at the edit summary
ALL CAPS? YOU CAN'T EXPECT PEOPLE TO READ IF YOU SHOUT AT THEM!
Provide a full exposition of why you made each change? It's too lengthy!
Don't do that? Well, you can't expect people to pick up on nuances that aren't explicitly pointed out to them.
If only we could just have a somewhat better quality of reviewer in the first place :(
Goddammit, in comes the first reject :(

But hey, it's a "pointless" reject, not "vandalism"

Are text in code block searchable by Google?

yes
google.co.uk/… finds the question in question

@TimPost hm, why did you unfeature the "Who cut the cheese?" post? it still has 11 days...
2

@EKons It got enough answers. New answers have zero chance to win at this point.

yeah, sounds reason enough... let's see what Tim says (if he does) :P
the reason I asked him is, well, because I didn't see e.g. a "thanks for your participation everybody!" or anything in the revision history

Well, it is not over yet... Just reached a stage it doesn't need to be featured. :)

unless it's been tweeted, it isn't that easy to follow tweets
actually, I was going to flag the post for custom "mod" attention, until I decided to actually check who unfeatured it :P

I also suspect the featured MSE questions cause most off topic questions we get there. Someone on some SE site see it in side bar, click, reads quickly then notice the big "Ask Question" button and click it, not knowing they are in a different site.

8:29 PM
I can't say I haven't seen questions which clearly belong to SO (to be closed as unclear) here...

8:46 PM
Turns out I am probably wrong, it was unfeatured in order to make place for the DAG team updates.

@ShadowWizard Perhaps next time answers could be hidden until some future "judging" round? That would help against the "FGITW" problem.

I'm sure they're going to redirect additional dev work onto a single-shot event trying to reinforce the good old "we are a community" lingo

@ShadowWizard yeah, I'm half-suspicious I've debunked the "the sidebar only fits so much" belief, I've seen 8 posts at once there

@EKons think only 2 can be from MSE though.
@RobertColumbia no, the real solution is shorten the time to one or two weeks, not whole month.

hm, maybe, maybe 3 too, can't remember totally, although, in my first days on SE, I heard something like "only so many Meta.SE posts, plus so many hot posts and featured meta posts"... yeah, not sure I believe that anymore

A: What criteria is used to select the links that appear in the community bulletin (events / featured / hot meta posts / blog) sidebar block?

Shog9The rules are as follows: If there is a community moderator election, a link to it appears in the bulletin. Events can be created with a start date and time, an end date and time, a simple title, and a link to something somewhere on the network. Current or upcoming events are listed, with those...

> Additionally, up to 2 featured posts from Meta Stack Exchange will appear in the community bulletins of all main sites (but no child meta sites).
Shog is never wrong. :D

11:50 PM
Is he the Jon Skeet of meta? When Shog is wrong the backend refactors itself so that he's right after all?

he doesn't have 1,063,468 rep so I'd think he's not quite of Skeet caliber yet

also if he takes you on your lap it can be both puppet story time or a paddlin'

or both
good to see you again Andras, I see your reign of snark continues ;)
