oh, i read that as no one likes you
O.o
12:38 AM
@Shog9 I've got a little spray bottle of food-grade peroxide. Awesome stuff, apply directly to throat and let it burn a while.
@KevinB it would not be nice for me to actually say that
@Undo I read that in the app preview & thought you were gonna follow with "35%"

Having trouble trying to understand what this question means: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/311920/…
He wants a longer comment editing grace period
Not such a good idea IMO.
@JourneymanGeek Understood, and retracted my vote.
The user did uncover another new-user hindrance: it's not possible to view the Markdown rendered for comments without submitting the comment. They are apparently submitting the comment to view the Markdown, and then fixing it as needed. Then, they're facing difficulties, so they can't do it all within five minutes.
6:56 AM
FR: reduce comment editing grace period to 2 minutes, just like chat :)
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog big no.
@ShadowWizard I know, already discussed in comments. Unfortunately, I can't delete it.
@SomewhatMemorableName Additionally: make edit histories of comments public, just like chat
Reminds me of many @gnat's dupe close votes with which I also disagree many times. Having an answer that may help the OP (or not) does not mean it is dupe.
@NathanTuggy No, it means "go check if this is the issue, and if it is, approve the dupe votes, or else edit and I'll retract the vote". — Sonic the Inclusive Hedgehog 34 mins ago
@NathanTuggy I do admit, I'm abusing the close vote feature a little, to give the OP a link and a chance to close their question themselves. The behavior of adding this question to the CV queue is a bit of an unintended side-effect in my case. — Sonic the Inclusive Hedgehog 23 mins ago
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog you can. The auto comment is attributed to you, you can delete it same way you can delete any comment you posted.
7:06 AM
@ShadowWizard Won't remove the CV task, plus it's up to others to take the word "possible" literally
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog And regarding comment markdown... there's already help center for comment markdown which is linked on "help" when adding a comment. Sorry, for this, I have to say: can't help, just get used to it.
You can't expect people to just read the documentation and get it right the first time. Call upon any programmer and they'll tell you the same thing.
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog markdown for comments is a bonus, IMO. Comments are expected to be plain and short. If a comment really need to contain complex formatting it better be posted as answer instead.
True, that's why I say: get used to it. I also didn't remember many markdowns and relying on shortcut buttons back then when writing a post. Now I never use them except for uploading image or quick indent. The same applies to comment (and you can more-or-less see how it'll render by writing it on the question/answer box).
@ShadowWizard And subsequently flagged as NAA and deleted?
7:14 AM
@SonictheInclusiveHedgehog depends what it contains. Can't imagine clarification request that needs formatting.
@SomewhatMemorableName The user in question identified an accessibility concern.
Still, I don't buy that they can't write it on answer box to see how it's rendered
> Now there are arguments that can be made about "typing it somewhere else" and blah blah blah. When you're trying to write, it is best to write something in the framework it's going to posted to, so that one can fit with what they write in the context of a response, and on top of that, see all the Markdown.
@ShadowWizard But it can. There's a reason why they allowed for mini-Markdown formatting instead of only allowing plain text.
@SomewhatMemorableName The way the hyperlink button outputs Markdown doesn't work in comments.
Remember, we're talking new users, not users who know everything about how the system works.
The way comment formatting help center on hyperlink Markdown works in both comments and posts.
@Some Well, like in chat comments only support a subset of markdown.
7:18 AM
@πάνταῥεῖ I think I've already hammered in that point.
@SomewhatMemorableName Still, it's helpful to know in advance how something will be rendered in a comment.
Okay, then write an FR for it.
Okay, discussion closed.
@Shog9 Would a request to have this reconsidered gain traction, in your opinion?
While we're at this topic, chat also doesn't have real-time markdown preview
7:35 AM
Simple workaround: write the comment under one of your own posts, edit until it is in shape, then copy and paste under the actual post. (or just add the ping)
Best preview we can get. ;)
8:08 AM
or find a userscript that does ;)
8:19 AM
There's something about a website owner suggesting others to search for userscripts for their own websites that I find mildly unsettling...
Doesn't that mean that that site is userscript friendly? :)
I am not a website owner tho
I'm a community moderator on one site :p
Perhaps John predicting the future...

I've answered a comment here but I doubt if I interpret their point correctly. Thoughts?

Not really, I am just tidy :3
Ooops I didn't spot the link in 1st place.
Or... does CW question gets into HNQ?
Hmm.. the hotness of that post is so low, I guess CW posts don't give much positive value to HNQ...

I'm still curious what's Anonymous Teacher's agenda... writing a possibly acceptable answer then deleting their account quickly.
@SomewhatMemorableName Probably a forgetful sorcerer, mage or witch with a general security spell. Unless explicitly waived, the spell automagically destroys any typed, written or otherwise recorded data after 5 minutes.
I've seen such things :)
4:37 PM
@rene Who's that annoying [Eloy dude](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eloy_de_Jong)? Seems to be so horribly "happy shiny people" to me (all over in TV ads now).
I've been knowing ["Eloy"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eloy) being a cool German prog/stoner rock band.
Where are those good 'ole days when we had [Heintje](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heintje) :P
Ah, multiline rendering again.
Ah, Heintje ... he never left
It is the first time I see that Eloy De Jong name
Doesn't look like it did anything here in the Netherlands. For good reasons by the look of it
4:53 PM
@rene Boygroup sassy :P
But what really offends me is that he's stealing the name of one of my youth beloved bands.
That is marketing ...
The Netherlands probably grow better things for external trade. Tulips for instance :3
Or any kind of flowers ...

@rene Did Dev just delete that post themselves?
yes
I feel bad for them.
he needs to flag for a mod
Yep. I flagged one of the comments, hopefully they'll take care of it.
Did you link to the meta post or did you flag on the meta post?
6:47 PM
I linked to it.
I can't flag the meta post any more now that it's deleted.
I was tempted to ping someone about it but... it's Saturday.
Okay, that should have enough context then
That was my thought. :) Almost ran out of characters.

Q: Should we disallow users from immediately deleting their accounts if they've made one post?

Sonic the Inclusive HedgehogWhen a user wants to delete their account, if they have posted 0 or 1 times, their account is deleted immediately; otherwise, they have to wait 24 hours for their account to be deleted after requesting deletion. Recently, we've been encountering a troll (visible to members of the Charcoal SO Tea...

.@Amazon @AmazonHelp: I have been blocked from posting reviews on Amazon and all of my reviews have been removed. While sellers have asked me to post reviews in the past, I've never been compensated with anything of value for any review I've written. What gives?
