It seems that a lot of folks are having a hard time wrapping their heads around the scope of this site. While I respect the SE staff2 and have been impressed with the effort they have taken (and judgement they have shown) in nurturing this site...
@JourneymanGeek definitely, but that's what I experience as a HNQ hopper... I hate my curiosity to always open Philosophy HNQ then get triggered silently... :(

I strongly recommend blocking non-Stack-hosted images in posts and messages going forward. The potential harm may not be severe, but it exists and there is no benefit to balance it out.
Reasons to leave them:
To avoid inconveniencing editors of old posts, as we already do for HTTP images.

Unfortunately, we've had a problem for quite a while now. It basically boils down to close voting questions with reasons that don't fit. Essentially, the Homework off-topic close reason, "unclear what you're asking", and "too broad" reasons are sometimes used where they make no sense whatsoever.

Thats actually kinda toxic, and the sort of environment we should be trying not to make. Yeah, someone messed up. Its been handled. How does bringing it up again (and again) make it any better?
The second posting was solely for technical reasons (I posted the first before my chat profile updated to my new username, so in the starred messages it shows my old name, which as I said I no longer identify by.)
(I will admit that I've been not so nice towards suspended users, which is something that SE doesn't appreciate us doing.)
