You pay the "Linux" vm cost (that is, the cost that does not include the OS cost) for every machine you create

Basically, even if you create a SharePoint machine (that should include the OS and the SharePoint license additional costs)... you only pay the cost of a Linux machine of the same size.

.... Microsoft is weird. I don't know why they don't give this clause more visibility. In most situations, this means you get a 50% discount on top of the free credit. That should be advertised more.

My idea is more to: a new user directly goes to "Ask Question" without reading anything. Before they post their first (bad) questions, the system will predict if it'll be closed or not. If it has lower probability to be closed, then the system directly allow it. If it's not sure, the system will show a pop-up to give a notice/warning that the question might be closed, but give a confirmation checkbox to post it. If it's 100% off-topic, prevent it being posted and show related help center/tour

@Nzall My opinion? That we are far too eager in moderating "noise" like frustration in titles, signatures or "thank you" at the end of a question... but we let other more abusive behavior like snarky comments or "I am better than you" post live.

That said, I am not sure that, given our community, "the frustration would mildly encourage more people to read it and maybe post their input".

On the opposite.

It would only give one more excuse to bash the user with passive-aggressive remarks.

basically, if one tried what is suggested in that short story on stack, I would expect:
- multiple downvotes, some from people that know the answer, most from people that jumped on the bandwagon.
- snarky comments like "sorry to burst your dream, that simply isn't true. Do research a little more before posting false info"

@Nzall To my experience, people who behave that way often do not think they have to prove anything. Knowing (or thinking to know) that something is wrong is enough. They will point out that the claim is wrong, but more often than not they will avoid posting the actual solution

should that surprise anyone? If you candidate to become a mod, then you are doing extra work. At that point, there are only two options:
a) you are actually willing to work to serve the site - this *usually* mean you will try to be nice
b) you are Luxus Dreyar and you think that the site is growing weak, filled with users that do not deserve to be here. You want to purge them, take the guild from the staff and become the new ruler.

I've seen weirdly formatted text called Zalgo like below written on various forums. It's kind of annoying to look at, but it really bothers me because it undermines my notion of what a character is supposed to be. My understanding is that a character is supposed to move horizontally across a line...

One quite annoying thing with my suspension from SO is that I can't chat at any other sites which aren't derived from Meta SE, but these are all using Stack Overflow as their parent site. I'm considering to ask for a FR to change that, since w.o. chat it's hard to improve your actions at particular SE sites. What do you think? Is there a dupe FR already?
