@TimPost Am I one of the fastest to earn privileges here on MSE?

user315433
SEDE can determine that, for some definition of fastest.

user315433
Fastest to 3K?

@SFTP Yep

user315433
6:51 AM
The query says it's ChrisF and it's strange that I don't see you there, and it's too late here and so I'm not going to investigate...

Does it count the MSE/MSO separation?

user315433
I see, it has WHERE U.Reputation>5000 to prevent timeout.

user315433
@SonicWizard After fixing the query, it says you are 47th fastest to get 2500.

user315433
It does not have you on the list of 3000 users, either because SEDE is stale or because the rep-count based on votes is approximate, or both.

user315433
There is no historic reputation data in SEDE, so the query re-calculates it based on votes. It does so carefully, but we know rep computation is something... else.

6:59 AM
@SFTP Tied for 46th actually

user315433
Of course, when MSE was MSO the level of activity was different here.

So... if it's filtered further to just include users after the MSE/MSO separation?

@Magisch "entertainment" ==> Drama

This is what passes for drama now?

Because that person was the one who defended SO on the Twitter thread

oh
I didn't read the full thread, only random parts by now

tbh this is more of an indication of just how technical and uncontroversial SO is

9:52 AM
@Derpy Did you check my Puzzling question?

if this is what passes for interesting and entertaining drama here :D

@SonicWizard exactly, that was a reference to your question from yesterday. Hidden image data was already used to encapsulate save data for some games.

@Derpy Except the data's visible in your case, in my case it's not visible to even a normal image viewer (only to Fireworks)

I know, but in my case the fact that the data is visible is actually preferred.
I think I even remind a dungeon crawler that allowed for custom armors that could then be shared by sending someone the picture of the image
The image would be the custom graphic of the armor...
so, basically, the picture of the "mod" was the "mod"

@Derpy Isn't there a whole encryption technique about hiding text in grayscales of images in a way the human eye can't see?

9:56 AM
worse, it's even possible to embed a music inside a picture

Q: Hidden message embedded in image

gparyaniThere is a hidden message embedded within the below image just below the graphic of Shadow the Hedgehog that cannot be viewed using a normal image viewer. Can you find it? Hint 1: Hint 2: I'm looking for an answer that also clearly explains the trick I used to obscure the text and why it...

@Magisch @HTTPS

@Magisch that's was part of the idea. The picture was the armor as it had been drawn by its creator in the game item creation editor. Then, its stat were added as "hidden data" (never investigated how it was done). As a result, if you posted the image online on a site, anyone could download it and import it in the game.
(on an unrelated notice, this could be a nice idea to improve nethack / dwarf fortress UI)

The one thing I don't get is all of this "You disagreeing with me makes me right even more" that is going on in every single comment chain regarding this
Nobody is even attempting any form of argument. It's all just "See how bad all of these people are?! They even disagree with me here

@HTTPS worse, it can be used by terrorists. /cc @Derpy
@Magisch indeed
@HTTPS to be honest, looks like she's using this to get more attention and become more famous.

It is worth noting that she runs a competitor product
So if you want to be cynical about this all of this can be dismissed as an attempt to undermine the (superior) competition

@Magisch it's the standard argument to "toxic users" defending their site, no matter where. I believe there's a specific term for that fallacy.

@ShadowWizard isn't that a little redundant? I mean... I am not surprised to know that anything can be used as a secret code to indicate something. Especially if the two parties can agree on such code beforehand.

@Magisch TBH, not sure if it's a competing product. Looks more like a tutoring community, which is definitely not what SO is.

10:43 AM
@ShadowWizard Almost everything can be used by terrorists
100% of all terrorists consume water at least once a week

Even a simple spam message posted on the meta site could be an hidden "start DDOS attack" signal. There is no scoop or big news

@Derpy redundant? How? Passing it as encoded message is way more risky.

user202362
how can you home brew google safe proxy servers?

@Magisch and how can water be used for terror attacks?

user202362
@ShadowWizard as the after product of a hydrogen explosion? Or as an ingredient for an chemical attack.

10:47 AM
@ShadowWizard By keeping fighters alive

@Magisch not if they're toxic

Any form of secure information transmission can be used to ... securely communicate. That can also be used by people who you'd like to not securely communicate
The same line of reasoning lead the british government to outlaw encryption without a backdoor
Before presumably the responsible MPs got sat down by an expert and told that outlawing math is impossible

Well, one could outlaw some specific fields of education, and leave only the members of a close group of enlighten people study the forbidden arts...
(the above message was brought you by the Illuminati Secret Agency associate #19546834996622806)

@ShadowWizard toxic water is kind of terror attacks...

@HTTPS in some places, that is a synonym of "tap water"

10:56 AM
@Shadow Will you help me test out a bug?

In the age of the internet, any enterprising high school student can learn how to implement a known encryption algorhitm. Some of these attempts are bound to produce actual encryption at some point. There'd be no point outlawing this in say the UK when a potential terrorist cell can trivially write say their own messaging app.

@ShadowWizard Delete that message

done
What's the bug? @Sonic

@ShadowWizard Reproduced it successfully
@ShadowWizard It's a loophole to allow a certain user to keep seeing a certain message, while hiding it from others
Have the user quote your message, delete your message, and then have them delete the quote.

@SonicWizard keep seeing? Like saving it to local disk before it's deleted?
@SonicWizard can't see any bug here. One can see own deleted messages.

10:59 AM
Allows you to see others' deleted message

@SonicWizard I don't think that'S a loophole
You have to have seen the message prior to deleting to quote it with this strategy

You mean you expect a chat message reply onebox to be auto deleted when the original message is deleted? That's totally not a bug, it's a feature request. @Sonic

@SonicWizard not relevant, the faq title is "Who are the diamond moderators, and what is their role", so question about list of moderators can't be dupe of that. Maybe edit the faq to be "Who are the diamond moderators, what is their role, and where are they listed?" but it looks too... broad.. to me.

@ShadowWizard Don't we close questions as dupes of s if the answer is contained there, even though the questions aren't the same?

@SonicWizard yes, but we can stretch the "aren't same" part only to some extent.

3:53 PM
@Catija Remembered what you said to me about not being a programmer...well, I'm not a musician: puzzling.stackexchange.com/a/63649/44852

@SonicWizard Do you have to separate it at the bar lines? When you cross over the bar line with a "tie", the note is sustained... so the two quarter notes (the second and third notated notes) actually aren't played separately, they're played as if they were a half note.

@Catija The OP said in a comment on the question that all ties were to be interpreted as slurs. In fact, I had it that way in the initial revision of my answer.

@SonicWizard Why do you call out sharps when there are none?

it's just a note. It's either C# or D♭, the same either way

@Catija Necessary for proper MIDI interpretation; each constant has an internal number that represents its order in the enum, and a piece of code at the bottom makes use of that.

4:01 PM
And since the "song" is in F, all B will be B♭

@SonicWizard Except that he "fixed" the image.
All of the ties across bar lines seem to be correct... the only thing that still confuses me is the tie across the sixteenth notes.

@Catija He says it doesn't matter to the puzzle how it sounds like. Did you look at the original code?
@Catija I think he just fixed that one that I pointed out, but meant it for all of them

Well, according to OP, they are all legatos, not tied notes.

@SonicWizard But he says the length of the notes is important... and something being sustained for five beats instead of 4 plus 1 is completely different things.
Those ties over the bar lines are unnecessary otherwise.

> We need a better way of making incoming comments visible to the community so that problems are caught and acted on sooner, and in such a way that scales with what elected moderators can handle. Is that a community review queue for new comments on old posts, comments by new users, or all comments? I don't know, but I really think something is missing here.
> Better comment review might also allow us to ease restrictions on posting comments in certain places, cutting back on a source of frustration for new users and reducing the number of non-answers posted to the site.

Human, All Too Human: A Book for Free Spirits (German: Menschliches, Allzumenschliches: Ein Buch für freie Geister) is a book by 19th-century philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, originally published in 1878. A second part, Assorted Opinions and Maxims (Vermischte Meinungen und Sprüche), was published in 1879, and a third part, The Wanderer and his Shadow (Der Wanderer und sein Schatten), followed in 1880. The book is Nietzsche's first in the aphoristic style that would come to dominate his writings, discussing a variety of concepts in short paragraphs or sayings. Reflecting an admiration of Voltaire...
