4:00 PM
... and I indeed am being distracted from the normal election flow, exactly like Shog9 describes. let's stop thinking about it.

@FélixGagnon-Grenier being top user is... impressive.

> until at least 1 year has passed from the end of your last suspension. [...] to fade from memory

(if he is indeed, didn't bother to check)

@HTTP forgetting it? I don't think it's gonna happen...

Maybe @Shog used some ready template for that? That message doesn't look very... personal.
> /templates/mod_message_for_users_nominating_themselves_after_being_suspended_on_‌other_site

4:03 PM
@ShadowWizard Eh... I wrote an email for this purpose a couple of years back and mostly just send variations on it now.
Clearly, I personalized the precise number of suspensions.

@Paparazzi drinks? I have a dream. Proletarian revolution: no cops, especially not bad ones. We can make it so, Vote Evan Carroll in the next Moderator Election. — Evan Carroll Feb 12 '17 at 19:32

@Shog9 I knew it! :)

to be fair, Shog9, I would have deleted that nomination just because of the rude comments he made, even if he hadn't been suspended. Before.
come on.... he basically called you folks "dirty mean people"

This required me to read less.

@Derpy dirty they might be, we can't know... mean for him, that's for sure. So...
:D

4:08 PM
To be fair, I am kinda dirty
2
And average

wondering

an average level of dirty

Aren't we all?

donno. You could be an outlier

> a younger rock formation isolated among older rocks.
Yep that's me ^

4:10 PM

@ShadowWizard "younger" ... pffff

@ShadowWizard lol

(enough stalking from me... time to sleep...)

@HTTP yikes! It's not even a valid "ad", it doesn't link anywhere

@HTTP I... have a draft in the answer field on that page

4:12 PM
@HTTP spam?

@Bart younger than.... well... o_O :D

I propose removing it as offensive

I am clueless about how I did that

@FélixGagnon-Grenier lol that's automatic draft :)
We all get it

4:14 PM
:)

Ssssst, let him think he's special.
Not like us, we're speshul.

appearance not nefarious enough

Daily thanks to @Sha for the daily ping
@PrincessLuna known network wide troll

what a shiningly bright star wall...
2

4:23 PM
@M.A.R. But why settle for a ping a day when you could be SHOWERING in pings with this great new investment opportunity. For the low, low price of $0.0 you can create a second account to ping yourself on a minute-to-minute basis!

@HTTP shiny black

@M.A.R. Soon a banned network troll if he keeps it up

@PrincessLuna I'm not crazy
Maybe

@Shog9 Take a shower?

4:25 PM
Shower stand

making a black dent on @HTTP's star wall

D:

:D
huh, maybe @HTTP is doing that on purpose just to get stars. Brilliant! :P

Who goes around wanting stars? Something smells fishy about that @sha. maybe even starfishy

@Bart

4:27 PM
I don't want stars, I attract stars.
8

@Catija shower to the mind? :D

4:48 PM
@ShadowWizard Just adhere to our motto here at camp. Clean Mind, Clean Body. Take Your Pick.

You can't have both! :p

8:07 PM
Wow. My vote was the decisive one in Wordpress election, 145 to 144.

user315433
Of course, 144 other voters could say the same. But still.

user315433
What if it was a tie?

I don't think it can be? There was an odd number of voters.
But, wow... the votes were so close.
Give them both diamonds :P

user315433
If I didn't vote, it would be.

user315433
And yes, it was not easy to decide.

user315433
8:13 PM
I think the tiebreaker for me was "fresh blood" argument (a member for 1 year, 9 months, with a lot of activity in that timespan).

user315433
SO could use more of the same.

Yeah, who do you like so far?
I can't vote so I'm just sort of playing along on the sidelines.

user315433
I'm waiting for until after the primary round. There will probably be more nominations, and some will not make it through.

user315433
> we are not renaming our current sites like a garish sport stadium to the highest bidder.

user315433
I first understood it as "current sites will not be sponsored", and was wrong.

user315433
8:25 PM
> the immediate focus is more on companies wanting to support our existing sites. meta.stackexchange.com/questions/307861/…

user315433
So... decorating current sites like a garish sport stadium to the highest bidder.

user315433
But not renaming.

@Catija Ouch ...

Why not Disney?
> Revenue: 55.14 billion USD (2017)
0.01% of that will be enough to create awesome new things in SE... ;)

Not the worst case scenario.

Can we go Infinity and Beyond then?

@Catija or a shared diamond, each getting half. :D

Nope, just to 55.14 billion.

8:47 PM
@ShadowWizard I think we call half diamonds "triangles" :P

9:04 PM
Should be "moder" and the other person can be "rator". (Have to share the "r".)

Eh, the m is wider, and the t is narrow. I say go with "mode" and "rator"

@Catija I call them trapezoids

user315433
Depends on how you cut it. Could be a parallelogram.

Trapezoids are the coolest shapes in the universe

They are?

9:17 PM
After sphere physicists of course

user315433
... now I'm trying to decide how to cut a diamond in two parts of equal area with a shortest cut. It's not the obvious cut from one corner to another.

@FTP it's gotta be a curve. It's always a curve
God was messing with us. He knows we can't draw a circle
Every cool thing that's the -est path is a curve

user315433

user315433
It's this one. Makes two trapezoids. :)

user315433
The red line is perpendicular to two sides and passes through the center.

user315433
9:27 PM
@M.A.R. For a general shape, the optimal cut is either a line segment or an arc of a circle. It has to have constant curvature, and meet the sides at the right angle. For example, for the regular triangle it's an arc centered in one of the vertices.

I am so not used to English math terminology
@FTP this image is so cool

user315433
10:20 PM
Also an example of "symmetry breaking": the shape is left-right symmetric, but the optimal cut is not.

user315433
(Of course, there is no "the" optimal cut: there are two, and the set of optimal cuts is symmetric as it must be.)

11:16 PM
Good job with the math @FTP, now we need to find proper unicode character for that. ;)

user315433
11:44 PM
That's it for Stack Overflow. Was good knowing you...

twitch
> Users earn karma points when their questions and answers get upvoted. But unlike traditional Web 2.0 sites, on DelegateCall these karma points can be redeemed for a tradable ERC-20 “DelegateCall token” on Ethereum mainnet, allowing users to earn rewards proportional to their contributions to the site.
That's definately going to go well. Especially when, if it is even slightly sucessful, people start hitting it with voting rings, and you can't roll back....

user315433
Good idea. And they already invented "put a tag in the title for no reason".

user315433
I get that it uses blockchain, but what is it about?

user315433
11:49 PM
Most of the front page is about the site itself.

user315433
I guess it is about blockchain.

I believe the term is "Circle Jerk"
they basically want to write a Q&A site where reputation is cryptocurrency.

user315433
Surprisingly, none of the questions on SO mod questionnaire are about blockchain.
