This user posted a survey on meta, which was massively downvoted, closed etc. 2 hours later they posted this question on TWP which is basically the same. Would you consider it survey spam?

spam in the strict sense? No
needs to be closed? yes

Ok
I've left a comment telling them that those types of questions aren't welcome
Would you consider it spam if they make additional survey posts after they were plainly told to go away?

hm
no
or more specifically - that using spamflags for this feels inappropriate
and it should be handled with closure and not much else

12:26 AM
Some sites allow them on meta.

@Catija true, but that's per site, and that sort of thing should not be getting spamflags

12:42 AM
Agreed.

Folks, do we have a canonical question or wiki on writing questions with intention to self-answer?
These are, essentially, a way for saving one's knowledge in a Q&A form (for community, posterity, future self).

@NickAlexeev kinda. It's on the blog
Jeff Atwood on July 01, 2011

The FAQ has contained one key bit of advice from the very beginning:

It’s also perfectly fine to ask and answer your own question, as long as you pretend you’re on Jeopardy! — phrase it in the form of a question.

So …

if you have a question that you already know the answer to

if you’d like to document it in public so others (including yourself) can find it later

it is OK to ask, and answer, your own question on a relevant Stack Exchange site.

To be crystal clear, it is not merely OK to ask and answer your own question, it is explicitly encouraged. …

now that I'm off my borrowed phone...
@angussidney IMO - spam flags are things I'd rather have used on "malicious" or at lease "semi malicious" posts, trying to drive stuff towards $external-resource for profit. Things like "I'm a student - I'm trying to do a survey" dosen't feel like it deserves the ip ban and 100 reputation hit that would give. Commenting and closing seems the 'kind' way to deal with it.

@TelautonomousKitty I was wondering why there was a sheet of paper with a Linux boot screen printout, then I noticed the ribbon cable.

@JohnDvorak those small screens are fun
I have a 7" one meant for a car reversal screen as a third one

I don't think I've seen a bare LCD screen in use before.
though tablets look barely any different :)

hah
that's a nicer one ;p
some of the lower end ones come practically wrapped in tape
Then there's this adafruit.com/product/1652

Steampunk-esque LCD frame with bare circuit boards in the back, $225. Excellent choice :P

lol
ipad screen, custom driver pcb, lasercut frame. shrug its cool.

I spent less than 20% of $225 for that monitor

user202362
telkitty way of cheapskate :p

so I spent less than $150 for the raspberry pi 3 + camera + monitor combo, although there are a lot of manual labour, like connecting the wires and using tiny tools involved

@JonEricson - re twitter.com/jlericson/status/965148346229841922, I decided to leave because I got very suspicious of the description provided for the fruits :P. Anything that delicious is IME usually a trap ;). Perhaps I'm just jaded. It was interesting, though - kudos

@JonEricson that idea at least limited the number of users I (better: my scraper) had to check, despite that I couldn't query per queue. Just to verify my results: Are there about 1484 users with a Steward badge for the close vote queue on SO?

@rene why did everyone die at 1000 reviews?

@M.A.R. those were only here for the badges ...

@rene and the badges cut through their heart, killing them?

sounds plausible

@rene does SEDE have an API?

@M.A.R. nope

@rene does it have a bookshelf?

user315433
Mine is similar, except for Google Drive. I can't keep it open in a tab, Chrome eats all memory if I do.

@rene I thought I remembered something. I tried to use it once and failed.

Also, it's work inbox - calendar - personal inbox for me. Priorities.

@Undo you mean the OData endpoint?

@rene That's it

@Undo disabled after Nick broke it and couldn't get it working in their setup.

that explains it. Thanks.

@rene Done

@Undo For the SOCVR chatbot Closey I wrote a SEDE Client but it is brittle and should really be named: SEDE Client for one specific query. But maybe it has bits that you can reuse.

Great, thanks

@Catija I noticed that the threshold for collapsing answer's comments and displaying the "this question has more than [x] answers already" message is set to 10 on Interpersonal Skills. Where is the post documenting this?

@Ano have you checked our meta? It's pretty easy to find.

Ano
@Catija I noticed that post, but didn't find where exactly an employee said it was set precisely to 10. I found it in a comment.
At first I just saw the answer, which said "7-10"

@rene 3,297 by my query.
@Mithrandir Thanks! I think the game designer might have been smarter with the fruit flavors. Strawberry is only sorta a fruit. ;-)

@rene eh, I think its not the first time he's done that.

Why was the old CW threshold previously set to 15 on then-Programmers? I can't find the relevant post on Software Engineering Meta, other than a rant about it (not what I'm looking for).

@Ano I wouldn't be surprised if it was cause they were testing it.

Ano
I also saw that the threshold for the message on Code Golf is 500, not 60 as the FAQ says. Apparently the old CW threshold was set to 500 just before the removal of that feature. There is only one question there that meets this threshold.
Are there any other sites that have chosen to configure their answer message threshold after CW triggers were removed?
