@JourneymanGeek I didn't find that post in my first search, so I pinged him. Then I searched again, and found it.

If it's not documented, shouldn't it be a meta post?
(and yes, this constant trivial pinging annoys me and others and this feels like the gentlest way to deal with it. The reminders will continue until change is seen, or other users ask me to stop)

I love to get pings, I don't seem to get enough pings, feel free to ping me!

user202362
Please wait patiently while I ignore your pings in the order they are received

@TelautonomousKitty I personally prefer to ignore them in any order I damn well please ;p

user202362
if you ignore all of them, then order does not matter :p

How will you ever know?

mornping me

user202362
@JourneymanGeek there are 500 levels of ignore, I am currently on level 135, reading pings then forget to reply due to other urgent/more interesting events :p

@SensibleAlexander gooping mornping @sensiping alexpingder!

If I'm not mistaken, Jason ignored Telkitty
@JourneymanGeek :D

I don't like using ignore.
Probably cause I'm a RO and a chat mod, and I'm sometimes expected to actually handle things. Usually just by being there apparently

Most important part of the job: showing up. Well . . . being even tempered is right up there too.

2:46 AM
Does showing up but going to sleep count as "showing up"?

user202362
@SensibleAlexander a lot of people ignored me before, you think I care?

user202362
there is one thing this world does not lack: people

@TelautonomousKitty it's a bliss :p

user202362
who cares if I am ignored by 0.00001 percent of population?

user202362
I can't juggle more than 3 group of friends

user202362
2:49 AM
too many interesting things on the face of earth, no time to cry anyone else a river

user202362
drone manual, why you so loooong?

@TelautonomousKitty That's why I won't ignore you I just wrote the baddest pick-up line, I feel ashamed

@JonEricson funny story that

user202362
lol, pick up line over internet, job well done ~_~

That is totally how I became a root access RO

Can "I have the same bug" be flagged as VLQ like we do on other sites?

@NogShine NAA, yes
@SmokeDetector naa-

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I am talking about this one. Is this NAA?

@NogShine I see that as an update to the bug report (it worsen), not a plain "I have the same bug".

@SensibleAlexander Shouldn't that go into the question?

7:17 AM
@NogShine this is where I'm not sure. If it was me, I'd post the image as a comment instead and letting the OP know (that way, the OP might update the question with the new image). However, I don't think posting a new answer to report the update on the bug is wrong either...
Personally, I'd leave that post there

7:47 AM
@SmokeDetector "permanent makeup machine"

@NogShine The guidelines are more lenient on meta...that answer has further explanation of the bug, so it's OK. An answer that simply states "I have the same problem" without providing any further info is NAA. You should have linked to it first, so I knew the right context first.

@SmokeDetector after seeing the product, wow! I'm tempted to buy.. (꒪ཀ꒪)

@iDebug What's the right command?
Also, why does the bot seem to almost always ping you in its announcements of spam in CHQ?

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog You can use !!/notify <room_id> <site> to receive notification whenever Smokey detects something on the site.

How can I find a list of starred messages in this room?
I'm looking for something old.

10:43 AM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Always do aaa\W?bbb when you blacklist something.

@iDebug Good thing that request didn't go through

@JourneymanGeek Thanks. Found.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog ... or you have to start a PR fixing that.

Its on SU, If I'm around, I kinda make sure I bury the spammer nice and deep :)

quick question since finding documentation is proving more difficult than expected:
am I mistaken or IE regular expression implementation does not allow lookbehind?

the latter
try this: xregexp.com

@JohnDvorak thanks, will do.

@JohnDvorak Seems the library internally uses RegExp, so the error is still there.
something like "(?<=;;#)[^,]*" won't work
thanks anyway.

it should

weird - it throws error even with a simple
var exp = XRegExp("(?<=;;#)[^,]*");

I mean ... what error?

@JohnDvorak same RegExp gives: unexpected quantifier. RegExp running on IE gives that error on the "?" character, meaning it does not recognize the "?<=" syntax as a lookbehind and instead tries to parse it as a quantifier
XRegExp seem to do the same.

11:38 AM
TIL

bingo. As usual, bug found between monitor and chair.
Seems that codepen pointed me to an obsolete cdn.

I've once found a genuine bug in a language interpreter
level of obscurity: 11/10. Time to fix: 6 hours since reporting

nice?

if a bunch of baby chicks are raised by a mother duck, would they encounter un-chicken like behaviour down the track?

1:13 PM
Oh we deployed Spectre/Meltdown patches to our elasticsearch cluster. It didn't go well. The cluster continually fell over until we enabled the kernel flags to kill them.
That might explain the search issues ._.

2:48 PM
@JourneymanGeek this whole spectre/meltdown debacle gets the smell of Y2K. The complete IT industry gets over exited, millions of manhour are spend on analysis, fixes, reviews, C-level presentation, bullshit and in the end nothing really happened ....

@rene well, a little
I think they're just excited they can pull an apple, slow down existing systems, then sell new PCs ;p

@Shog9 when you're having a cup of coffee you might want to check here if I'm close enough to describe what you did with the Sandbox Archive.
I like how I overcomplicate stuff.

If I'm not mistaken the OP of the question is...

auto-downvote every meta post by him

3:08 PM
@SensibleAlexander yeah ... please think before asking sums it all up ...

Q: Regular Expression Help

brettzthanks in advance for any help. I'm trying to capture a string using a regular expression for the code below. Note: I only want the expression to match the Agreement Number when the step name later on in the code is "Application Validation" and the F_LockedUseris "NONE" "xs:boolean",null,null,nu...

@AdamLear ... :( You're too productive.

Not the adjective that first comes to mind when I think about closing off-topic stuff on meta. :)

I was going to use that post to cast my very first delete vote on MSE :(

CFO--: Jack Sinclair is no longer an employee. Still on the management page though.

6:45 PM
@Catija no worries we will find you another one ...

@if.... Huh? The graph makes no assumptions... if "your age" is 35, the number is near 100%, if "your age" is 15, then it's closer to 10%.
@rene I'm sure there'll be one eventually.

8:20 PM
We're going to be happy again! Luckily it only lasts an hour ....

Do I have to?

8:44 PM
@Catija No, there is no requirement to be happy for everyone.

OMG... this is magical:
Last night we captured surveillance footage of a vandal trying to break in to one of our employee's vehicles in our parking lot. While the suspect is still at large, we took the liberty to have John Curley give his play-by-play of the incident. Take a listen 🔊 https://t.co/FYQTiJsTDt
I'm happy now.

Got an accept on an answer I wrote back in 2014 ...

:/ Weird.
Well, it did take you four months to answer it...

I'm not good enough for this FGITW game so I most often answer questions that have fallen off the main page.

9:07 PM
everyone happy?
expects to keep everyone happy all the time

@AaronHall it looks like @Catija want to opt out of being happy for today

25 mins ago, by Catija
I'm happy now.

you can't be. It's the wrong hour.

Crap... I'm always off.

@rene close enough

9:12 PM
So much for this week.

there's always next week. Until there isn't.
^ that's how you do non-happy hour

Anyway, I blame Adam... I saw that tweet because he retweeted it... so I was happy too early because I saw the video before happy hour started.

Anyone else besides Nick that can fiddle with SEDE? Another account issue popped up: meta.stackexchange.com/q/306567/158100

Dunno... I think he's home with a sick kid today...

He is always home, isn't he?

9:28 PM
But he's not always having to care for a kiddo... though, he seems to be writing scripts to make it so that a twitter addon he uses goes back to the old color scheme...
...why did they just turn TweetDeck blue? It's crap like this that gives me trust issues.

Hi! Can someone point me to a little bit more info on the “It does not meet our quality standards” algo? I know that it is apparently undisclosed. I would like to know when it was last updated. Seems to work not so well on certain sites, like Health. Can it be adjusted to more strict or something?

@LangLangC yes, but not probably in the way that would be needed for Health.

user315433
@LangLangC It's generic, content-independent: capitalization, punctuation, length. This is the most detailed post I can find,

The heuristics are all kinda based around what programmers do
(when they're posting crap)

user315433
11:00 PM
In case of Health, it may be better to identify the keywords that indicate the asker is looking for medical advice, and warn about those.

@Shog9 You seem to know more about what would be needed for Health. We're currently quite struggling to come up with ideas working with and within the existing system. Most regulars being so frustrated that they would like to opt for "radical surgery" (with differing opinions on that too)
@if.... Haven't thought about those, but if (there are some) how would that be implemented?

user315433
A recent example from Code Review: codereview.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/8586/…

@Catija or to use a text editor that auto saves

11:20 PM
@JourneymanGeek Yep.

11:42 PM
@LangLangC unfortunately, there's not likely to be an easy path to success there
the first step is classifying the problems
...of which there are many
then you can try to tackle them one by one
there are a few things that can be done within the system to aid in this: warnings and blacklists, guidance and blocks
...but, most of solving these comes down to folks addressing instances of each problem individually
Far and away the biggest reason for closing questions on Health is requests for personal medical advice: we can try to add heuristics to warn folks away from asking such things, but that starts with identifying patterns (keywords, phrases) that help to identify them as they're being written.
for example, the word "my" appears in the title of about 10% of all closed questions, and only about 3-4% of open ones. That's a simple heuristic
(it may in fact be an even better heuristic in the question body - something north of 60% of all closed questions contain it there, but the false positive rate is high as well)
Of course, not all problematic questions get closed

@Shog9 Another identifier for that would be 'I am'. But that has quite a high rate of false positives. Often people like to clarify, after some explanation and context: "(So,) My question is…"

yes

@Shog9 Together with "…of which there are many": Could you share some of these insights from an current eagle's view on our meta? I feel we're currently running around in circles for too much of the time.

@LangLangC probably not today; I'm getting ready to head out
Is there a question on meta you'd like more attention on?

11:58 PM
@Shog9 Of course. If private business: have fun! Otherwise Qapla'!
