@NogShine The guidelines are more lenient on meta...that answer has further explanation of the bug, so it's OK. An answer that simply states "I have the same problem" without providing any further info is NAA. You should have linked to it first, so I knew the right context first.

@JohnDvorak same RegExp gives: unexpected quantifier. RegExp running on IE gives that error on the "?" character, meaning it does not recognize the "?<=" syntax as a lookbehind and instead tries to parse it as a quantifier

XRegExp seem to do the same.

Oh we deployed Spectre/Meltdown patches to our elasticsearch cluster. It didn't go well. The cluster continually fell over until we enabled the kernel flags to kill them.

Hi! Can someone point me to a little bit more info on the “It does not meet our quality standards” algo? I know that it is apparently undisclosed. I would like to know when it was last updated. Seems to work not so well on certain sites, like Health. Can it be adjusted to more strict or something?

In case of Health, it may be better to identify the keywords that indicate the asker is looking for medical advice, and warn about those.

@Shog9 You seem to know more about what would be needed for Health. We're currently quite struggling to come up with ideas working with and within the existing system. Most regulars being so frustrated that they would like to opt for "radical surgery" (with differing opinions on that too)

the first step is classifying the problems

...of which there are many

then you can try to tackle them one by one

there are a few things that can be done within the system to aid in this: warnings and blacklists, guidance and blocks

...but, most of solving these comes down to folks addressing instances of each problem individually

Far and away the biggest reason for closing questions on Health is requests for personal medical advice: we can try to add heuristics to warn folks away from asking such things, but that starts with identifying patterns (keywords, phrases) that help to identify them as they're being written.

for example, the word "my" appears in the title of about 10% of all closed questions, and only about 3-4% of open ones. That's a simple heuristic

(it may in fact be an even better heuristic in the question body - something north of 60% of all closed questions contain it there, but the false positive rate is high as well)

Of course, not all problematic questions get closed
