The Review icon isn't shown in the top-bar of the newly launched private beta, Stellar Stack Exchange, even though I have enough reputation (just 1) to review close and reopen votes.
Made pizzelles recently... Tried a few different recipes. Finally settled on a variation where I flavor the batter by waving a closed bottle of almond extract over the bowl, then put it far away and cook the waffles.
Even if it's a dupe, we prefer new bug reports rather than un-status-completing old ones, so this question is fine as it is. — Adam Lear ♦Nov 12 '13 at 21:26
Unless the bug was never actually fixed, it's almost always better to write up a new report.
...keeping in mind that more detail is usually better than less in bug reports, and so one reason it's getting marked as a dup is perhaps that no one can reproduce it.
Fixed rolling out with next build - rev 2014.4.18.2176 on meta and rev 2014.4.18.1558 on sites.
The link should appear as soon as you have the minimal required rep for any of the review queues enabled on the site.
heh. yeah.... this is a regression - there was a change pushed in march of last year that "simplified" the queue access logic and threw out the whole "min rep" check
@rene it's a request for specific language, which only applies to SO. This is off topic for MSE, but there are thousands like this so not sure why a dev will waste time on migrating one. Either do in in batch, or leave it alone like they did all those years.
Anyway, it's only been like... two weeks. I'm sure they have more important things to do than manage sending swag to people at all corners of the planet.
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard heh. ah yes, the two wasted seconds. The worst thing that happened to be today, for sure. (The question was bumped to the front page, I saw it, migrated. It wasn't exactly a mission to find something to do or whatever.)
@Catija I give it 10% that we'll be contacted, and 0.01% that we'll actually get the swag. But... who knows. Like I said, I don't have any hopes anymore and don't plan to take part in such thing in the future if it's organized by Tim Post. I don't blame him, he's busy. But better not start something you can't complete and don't promise things you don't plan or can't fulfill.
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard Oh, come on... you can't really say that you believe they'd hold a fake contest and then kick people in the ass by not carrying through on their swag promises...
@AdamLear fed up with "we'll do [put something here] next week" and 60 weeks later, nothing... and worst part never responding to comments asking for updates.
I don't think there's an amendment for interrogators... people being interrogated can plead the fifth... but that's sort of poorly understood by lots of people.
@AdamLear well in past events the one who posted the event also sent the email... and it was done fast. At least that was the case with the "crazy swag" or something like that that was done by animuson.
and that's not even the most delayed thing on my list from this year
@Catija well, I didn't answer it because of the bounty. That was just... kinda to illustrate that I almost missed a bounty that didn't even exist when it went on my list.
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard I'm guilty of not responding to such comments. 9 times out of ten it's because I need to ping someone to get an answer, wait for the response, not be happy with what I hear, advocate for work to be done, etc. Somewhere along the way, I probably forget to follow up. (Usually over the weekend or whatnot.)
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard I don't think that anyone is 100% happy with things but... it's the way things are and being grouchy about it to people who can't really do anything to fix it just sort of makes things... uncomfortable?
Seeing the comments under the now-featured meta post, I see something has changed. The urge to just disagree with authority, here being SE dudes, has dramatically increased.
@Catija That's where I'm at. We're all doing the best we can, and seeing comments like "well, SE just doesn't care" isn't a great motivator. I understand the sentiment... but there's only so much "taking it on the chin" that I have in me on any given day.
@AdamLear I think you all are awesome and I do my best to stay positive. I know that y'all are in a pretty tough spot and I can imagine that being one of the people who's more interactive with the regular users makes it harder.
Before I started as a CM, I was like "how hard can it be to send an email?? If I were doing it, I would be on top of all the things". And then I got hired, and kinda just went "... oh."
How often can you come in here and not be able to ping some of the other staff members? I don't know that we need special rooms for each of them to be able to say that they're reachable... but I also think that at least part of the problem is that they're too reachable. How impossible is it to work when you have people constantly bugging you about the things that are important to them but that aren't really important to the system? Every distraction makes it more difficult to be efficient.

fine ... cut mod numbers in half ... hey, I don't hate mods that much :p
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard Everyone has that sort of issue and - with the right situation - there's room to grouch about it... but it might be good to keep your audience in mind.
@JonEricson I've been wondering about that... trying to figure out if you're going to have to add a bunch of admin staff to be PoCs for Channels teams.
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard no, I wrote the spec for the post banners. And by "spec" I mean I threw a table into a Google doc and expected someone to make sense of it.
@Catija πππ I often say that the best thing about working here is the amount of feedback we get directly from the users. And the worst thing about working here is the amount of feedback we get directly from the users.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog well, long long time ago all users (meta only? not sure) became Rebecca Chernoff for one day... so who knows. @Shog has the power to do such a thing again in April Fools. :P
On this frabjous day, our community manager Rebecca Chernoff has graciously allowed all of us *1 to be her for one day, and one day only. And so, ladies and gentlemen, let me present to you:
We're all Rebecca Chernoff \o/
A userscript dedicated to making all of you Rebecca Chernoffs. Reall...
