@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I use a Chinese keyboard. I'm used to it so that I can type very fast on my phone.
I can even program on the phone :)

1:56 AM
@SmokeDetector naa

... good thing I don't trade Bitcoin?
Work colleagues are on fire...

Market crash?

down by 25%...

Ouch.

user202362
lol, only 25%

Seems not yet done, but let's wait until the end of January

user202362
3:11 AM
it went up 20 times in about 12 months, I would not surprised if it crashes by 75%

user202362
Is there a way to short selling bitcoins? I might be tempted ...

5:39 AM
Hey, anyone have time to help me out with maths?

Maybe.

ok, I want to rearrange 6ab-5ac+bc=0 so that c is on the left hand side
so I can solve the formula with code instead of brute forcing c
it used to work, but now I'm getting expected c's that aren't ints

Like you want to solve the algebra with code?

I have a and b
I want to find c.

And that equation is the same every time?

5:42 AM
indeed

-5ac+bc = -6ab
(-5a + b)c = -6ab

c = ???

c = -6ab/(-5a + b)

thanks!
ok it's working perfectly

(:

5:47 AM
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard I came to the wrong conclusion as to what the bug was

6:13 AM
@SmokeDetector IMHO best spam post in so far

6:36 AM
@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard @Discretelizard's post is a dupe, please VTC it

I guessed the OP pressed "Reject & Edit", then cancel editing from there (but the post has already been rejected), then edited through the standard process.
... or alternatively that dupe

By the way, one thing I used to do on my old MSE account to get attention for old, unnoticed bug reports and feature requests was to intentionally post a duplicate. Very effective then.

I did that to a bug on SE Android app, but it's not effective at all :)

@SensibleAlexander That's a special case, because the apps are no longer in active development.

user202362
7:13 AM
got cam working on raspberry pi

I'm tempted to flag this message as obsolete...

user202362
I wish cam can be higher resolution, then I can get my autonomous car to stalk and spank the people with right butt contour
2

user202362
that's what autonomous car cat do right?

@TelautonomousKitty your inspiration never fails me

user202362
7:26 AM
cam has IR sensor so it can tell buttocks from 2 pieces of round adjoined rocks ...

8:53 AM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Seems to be a dupe, yeah. Too bad the other one didn't get much attention. Maybe this one will.

What's going to happen to the extant Stack Exchange 1.0 sites, e.g. moms4mom.com?

... I believe this is not my imagination, but balpha is almost always summoned to this room after a certain message...

@SensibleAlexander @balpha you mean?

A: Confused about biostar, 1.0, 2.0 isn't SE a big family?

Adam DavisBiostars SE 1.0 sites will be shut down eventually. Original date was slated for sometime in June or July 2010, but unofficial word suggests that this is variable as SEI works with the sites. It appears that the people who started it are working on a stackalike clone, and are planning on maint...

9:18 AM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog wow, that is an ugly site

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog The meta site is down, and trying to access any user profile triggers a server error

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog moms4mom isn't a stack exchange site (anymore)
it's using OSQA

@balpha Are there any other extant Stack Exchange 1.0 sites, or are they all shut down?

I don't think there are any left

hm
OSQA is uglier than I remember 0_0

9:21 AM
some have been assimilated (e.g. mathoverflow), some shut down, some switched to things like OSQA

I know that a lot of people held off on changing to Stack Exchange 2.0, because if they chose to migrate they would be placed into beta and could be shut down there

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog which shows a little lack of faith in their communities :(

@JourneymanGeek Udacity switched from OSQA to Discourse

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog vaguely apples and oranges, but I suppose a forum would work better there

@JourneymanGeek Yeah, people kept treating it like a forum, plus the domain was "forums.udacity.com"

9:25 AM
lol
that would be confusing, yes

Notice anything wrong with this message below?
8 mins ago, by Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog The meta site is down, and trying to access any user profile triggers a server error
@JourneymanGeek Plus, about 15-25% of the time, you'd get server errors for normal actions

well, that's a totally different kettle of rotten fish
aww
I wanted to correct that indian dude's 10 lakh to 1 million

@JourneymanGeek Are there any other countries where "lakh" and "crore" are used? If not, correct it.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog post deleted
;p
No point
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog eh, I THINK just india and pakistan

@JourneymanGeek what about nepal

9:33 AM
also, the news papers talk of say 10L something and I'm all "how do you have 10L or rupees... oh wait"
@OptimusPrime hence I think ;p

I guess there are more Asian countries use L & C
JNat had broken something today to fix something

> The Indian numbering system is used in India as well as in Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan

user202362
but not much in the Indian ocean

9:50 AM
@TelautonomousKitty I would have you know there is many L of L of water in the indian ocean...

<oops>

@balpha anymore?? It used to be??? lol
Moms.SE

I think so

Jason (C) would LOVE it. ;)

Wasn't Parenting seeded or something like that? I may be mixing that up with another site.

10:05 AM
I only know ru.SO seeded

Ah no, it was Mi Yodeya that I was thinking of, I think

@Mithrandir seeded? Not sure what you mean, it's just an ordinary SE site started via Area 51 proposal.

basicallymoney.com seeded into Personal Finance & Money

@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard had content migrated from the SE1.0 site

10:06 AM
and how about... Startup.SE 1.0
(can't even find it anymore)

@Mithrandir nah, pretty sure nothing like that happened with parenting.

@SensibleAlexander answers.onstartups.com

@balpha huh, you're right. It was indeed SE 1 site.

A: Answers with external references; should they not be added to answers and (perhaps) contribute to reputation?

Adam DavisA stackexchange website that to some degree enforces this philosophy is Moms4Mom where they have a policy called Back it up: Stated simply, Back It Up! means your answers must be based on: Something that happened to you personally, or Something you can back up with a reference. ...

Twitter and Youtube have night-mode. I wish... every site did... hints at something

@AaronHall if there was ever a chance of getting that on SO, it's completely off the table now thanks to the marketing team

@AaronHall userscript?
tho, my browser has a colour inversion function by default

2 hours later…
4:45 PM
@Stijn Tell the marketing team it's an important differentiator today, and absolutely required for parity tomorrow. ;)
why would a site for developers not have a night mode?
augh, I'm blinded by this screen, see you guys later...

5:47 PM
Are you a developer? Have time to help me with some research for exciting new things coming to Stack Overflow? Shoot me a DM, would love to speak with you! #StackOverflow #developers

Well, no twitter, no gain.

You want me to tweet him for you, @rene ?

What if the UI being researched involves tweeting?

God help us all...

6:00 PM
I mean, that'd make sense, right? Why else would you look for subjects on Twitter?
Tweet to ask, tweet to answer, tweet to vote...
(no tweet to edit, 'cause tweeters don't edit)

Dear twitter, Edit button. It’s fucking time.

Twitter: "what's that you say? More emoji? We'll get right on it!"

@Shog9 👺

that's one of those little fuzzy mites, ain't it?

Yep, on your blanket
Never forget to consistently wash blankets
To wear them out

Welcome to Twitter.SE, where questions and answers body must respect Twitter's character limit.

@SensibleAlexander most questions would end up being like:
> Hi all. Have a good day. May God bless you. Would????? Pls respond urgent. Kthxbye

"My code is not working" fits easily into twitter's length limits.

6:20 PM
Yay! Second or third yearling

@Catija meh, but thanks for the offer.

I'm less then 100 rep away from 30K on SO and then I will unlock the privilege ... wait ... nothing? ... Okay, I'm 70K short for receiving swag ...

8:06 PM
Something's wrong with the new beta site:

oh goddammit
Forgot to flip a setting for it during launch. It should catch up in a few minutes, but ping me if it doesn't

It does already.

cool

8:52 PM
> Those of you who are highly engaged with the Stack Overflow community probably have a general idea of a) who Jon Skeet is and b)

@Catija next feature: upvotes

for those who're not, a link to the jon skeet facts will be good

@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard Wait... hearts aren't upvotes?
Or did you mean downvotes?

@Catija they are same as the stars in SE

@Catija oh, there's "Like", yeah.. so I meant next feature: downvotes aka dislike. ;)
@Catija yup
But it won't happen IMO

8:55 PM
@OptimusPrime Nah... I never star stuff here unless I find it something I really need to know about and access regularly. Hearts on Twitter are just to show that you like what they're saying.

Neither in Facebook
Social media want to encourage only love and happiness.
</sarcasm>

@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard Twitter is owned by FB, right? And FB refuses to have negative "votes"? Closed they have is the angry face...

unexpected things happening. Slight deviation in my career. hunting for bounties.

@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard Milk and Honey

hmm. I use twitter only if I have to tell something to some company ( mainly to raise a complaint)
They will solve issues raised via twitter than issues raised in their own portal

8:57 PM
Depends on the company.

@Catija nope, Instagram is. Not Twitter.

@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard Ah... that's what it is... eh... still... probably not going to happen.

how I report a security issue to SE?
/Cc @ShadowtheHedgehogWizard

@OptimusPrime contact us form.

which one?
I think previously there was an option for security

9:05 PM
@OptimusPrime Choose "Other" as the type and include the words "Security Vulnerability". Be as detailed as you can in the steps required to reproduce the error. Please do not post serious security issues publicly on a meta site or elsewhere.

9:15 PM
@rene if I have to share a screenshot, can I use SE's imgur service?

I'd suggest contacting them without it, stating you can provide screenshots if required? And then share them via whatever means of communication they start with you?

@OptimusPrime what Bart says

I sometimes say things that make sense
3

sometimes

They'll respond through email, so you'll be able to send however many images you want without needing to upload them.

9:35 PM
sent
not a big deal
but still it can be exploited/ misused

@OptimusPrime There used to be, but it got misused a ton, so we removed it.

@AdamLear I remember a meta post which says you're going to enroll in hackerone or bugcrowd. any update on that?

It's on hold for now

oh
anyway I used the other (thanks Rene) and sent it already

user315433
Math is hard

but hey, at least they get to count the score in basketball :P

PE is important.

I'm surprised there are courses in wine and beer appreciation, though

That's American higher education.

I prefer the self-directed study option for those =)

That's pretty much what all of college is, right?

Actually it is not a homework question. I just wanted help. I thought that the goal of this site is to help people with their scientific questions. — ostal123 5 mins ago

11:20 PM
@OptimusPrime they removed it
@AdamLear "font size is too small, that's a security issue"?
@M.A.R. again?

@ShadowtheHedgehogWizard yeah you know, newer users teaching more experienced ones what the site's mission is.

11:35 PM
@M.A.R. Wait... that's not how SE works?

11:54 PM
@Catija I think SE operates on running hamsters

user202362
I would suggest hiring rats instead, they are cheaper

So unless hamsters are an analogy to newer users, maybe not

@M.A.R. Hamsters? I thought it was pie, waffles and unicorns?

@TelautonomousKitty but ugly
@Catija that's just the beautiful outside

user202362
why care, they are behind the scene

11:55 PM
The insides are filled with vicious torment
@TelautonomousKitty so their bodies wouldn't look so ugly when disposed of

user202362
you wouldn't want anyone to discover the bodies either ...
