@SensibleAlexander Quoted? From some source? Generally quotes should be left intact or edited with the edits marked somehow (I usually use brackets around the edited sections or omissions).

@SensibleAlexander I don't know that there's a standard practice, though... I'm basing that on what I do and what I think is good practice. It can look confusing if you quote something and it doesn't line up exactly... but if you notate that it's been changed, that's not an issue.
