5:00 AM
i need guts to open my macbook

Yeah, that's what we were tellingyou

which i dont now later i try for it
it will be a fun
to play with apple hardware
i am very happy now
n about your interesting question @moshe
i did with mp3 audio streaming

I suggest buying an inexpensive slightly older laptop for now and use that to practice disassembling and reassembling a laptop

with webservices

@ManjotSingh don't tell us, tell the guy that asked the Q
Moshe just put it here to show us

5:03 AM
ok
i dont think people would accept my answer
he need different thing
sure i"ll buy old macbook
but i was planning to buy ipad2 now
i m already have one macbook

that's not what i was insinuating with "old laptop" but sure

what?

@jcolebrand - I completely missed the bit about AirPlay there until you mentioned it. See my (revised) answer.

I see
I never read your answer when I wrote that :p

5:09 AM
My answer came afterwards.

I just don't get why people always want to duplicate the innate functionality
what does it gain them?

@jcolebrand Customization.
Cydia/App Store
for example

that has nothing to do with what I said

what are you guys talking about?

and he's going to want to send to the exact same devices as AirPlay sends to
so why would he want to rewrite AirPlay when it's already there?

5:11 AM
@jcolebrand That very well may be.

Now, if he had a novel thing to use AirPlay for, that it didn't already do, sure

can we develop an application on jail broken iphone

@jcolebrand Perhaps he does and doesn't want to make it obvious on the internet.
@ManjotSingh What do you mean by that?

but I challenge you to find a way to use AirPlay that doesn't involve using a custom UI that somebody thinks is better than iPod that doesn't do what iPod does
my point is this:

@jcolebrand Devices that aren't AirPlay compatible? Not everyone wants to pay Apple's Made For i license fees.

5:12 AM
do you understand jail broken?

the ipod interface has been refined for many years. It does everything a music player should do, and then a tad more. So what other features does a music player on the iOS need?

@ManjotSingh yes, I don't understand what "can we develop an application on" means

I get where mobile safari needs a little more juice, but there's a tradeoff for battery life and stability and memory in those regards

@jcolebrand compatibility with non-Apple-licensed third party hardware.

@Moshe so they should pay his licensing fees for his technology instead?
or is he going to release his specs for free out of the goodness of his heart?

5:13 AM
Fair enough.

i means if i want to develop an applicatopn and wants to test it on jail brken iphone is it possible?

I get wanting to make a better browser
ffs, we have how many on Windows alone?
I get wanting to make a better image app, those are tricky and have lots of features

Right, I gotcha.
@ManjotSingh Maybe, but I wouldn't know.

@ManjotSingh no. People don't test the code that they write for jailbroken iPhones. They're all super super geniuses who don't need to test their code.

are you ios developer?
i mean to test an app

5:15 AM
@ManjotSingh Yes. I am a member of the Apple third party developer program for iOS.

but cedia is for ios 4 only not for 4.3.3

@ManjotSingh you do realize that Cedia breaks the law according to the US legal system right?
So you're complaining that an illegal thing is not the most current ...
and you're complaining that the company that makes money off the sales of apps doesn't want to support it ...

cooool one by one
no i dont think cedia break any law
i mean they made an application
so it should be up to date

wtf mate?

why is it?
its my thinking
you would of different thinking

5:19 AM
What do you want to know?
Do you want to know if you can run 4.3.3 apps on 4.0 iOS?
Do you want to know if people can run AppStore apps on jailbroken phones?

no friend

Do you want to know if people test their apps on jailbroken phones (yes, of course they do, what sort of devs would they be if they didn't test their apps?)

why are becoming so hyper?

What exactly do you want to know that five seconds of thinking doesn't answer?
I'm not hyper, I always talk this fast in this room
and I always try to explicitly say my thought, instead of this:
m make you guess

lol
take a deep breathe
will start one by one
how can we run 4.3.3 apps on jail broken device?

5:24 AM
@ManjotSingh you can't.
@ManjotSingh I always take a deep breath. Sometimes more often than I would like.

i mean like provisioning certificate can run on jail broken device?
ok

@ManjotSingh how does that relate to the previous question?

which one?
it is related
i want to test my app then i have build an app on device
so certificate is required for that
will provisioning profile made for jail broken device?
and please dont be personel

@ManjotSingh When you pay Apple $100, you get a developer certificate and the ability to make provisioning profiles.
There are two kinds of provisioning profiles. Developer and Distribution.

@Moshe how much experience you are having?
i know these basics

5:29 AM
@ManjotSingh he's an app dev for iOS apps
he's got like 10 under his belt

@jcolebrand Yep, thanks.

app dev?

@ManjotSingh - If you want me to answer, please remain silent until the end of the lesson. :-)
Moving right along...

10 under his belt?
which lesson?
who is giving me lesson?

@ManjotSingh it is an expression, that most likely originates with hunters, who would tuck various things (knives, pelts, small animals, etc) under their belt around their coat.
@ManjotSingh he is, about developing apps for iOS
whether it's jailbroken or not, you still follow the same basic processes.

5:31 AM
Developer profiles are used for testing on your own devices. Distribution profiles come in two flavors, one being used for testing and the other for the App Store.

can we use developer profile for same?
that i know man

When you make an app, you create a Developer provision for it. The Developer provision includes a list of devices.
You need to register the devices with Apple, using their UDID.

lol
i am also an ios developer

UDID stands for Unique Device Identifier.

i know all these basics

5:33 AM
When you register devices, the Provisioning Portal does not check if a device is jailbroken.

So, you can likely just add it to the portal and use a Provisioning profile like any other device.

ok ok i got it

When testing your apps, you would use Distribution Provisioning Profiles with the Ad Hoc option.
Ad Hoc provisioning profiles also indicate which device they are compatible with.
Again, they require device UDID registration.

yaaar please stop this torture
i know all these basica
please for god sake stop it

5:36 AM
@ManjotSingh - Did I answer your question? If so, class dismissed. If not, please remain seated for the duration of the lesson.

If you know it, then why did you ask it?
He's only answering the question you asked

Either you know it and you're being an arse, or you don't know it.
Pick one.

the question was different
i am not at all arse

Then tell us the question again, so that we may answer it
and be plain, and use many words.
m answering
is not a good response

5:38 AM
my ipod touch is not jailbroken
and i am an iod developer
i want to jail broke my ipod touch

if you've already written iOS apps then what are you asking us for? Go jailbreak your ipod, find out if it works, then reset your ipod
you do realize jailbreaking is easily reversible right?
@ManjotSingh so now you're soliciting advice on how to steal IP?

but i was afraid that would app can test on jail broken devices with developer profile
@jcolebrand no i dont mean that

@mootinator Hey,what's crackalackin' ?

so thats why i ask that would it possible to test an app on jail broken device thats it

5:41 AM
@ManjotSingh that's how I took your comment to mean when you said:
1 min ago, by ManjotSingh
to take an advantage of all paid apps which is something arround 10$

@jcolebrand ya like street fighter
with the help of cedia we can have fun with street fighter game

What about street fighter?

@Moshe jQuery is being a loser.

@jcolebrand its a game

@ManjotSingh We know what it is, what about it?
@mootinator How so?

@ManjotSingh And what does jailbreaking have to do with it?

@ManjotSingh so you're asking for advice on how to steal IP?

@Moshe it provide free app

$('#order').sortable({
stop: function(event, ui) { $('#SearchForm').submit(); }
});

@jcolebrand no not all

5:44 AM
Doesn't do what I want it to.

@mootinator I had issues with that as well once upon a time

@jcolebrand i know how to do that it is available on internet

@ManjotSingh What are you asking? What do you want?

@jcolebrand Did you kill it with fire?

@mootinator why are you submitting on sorting?
I wrote ajax responses, I never did a submit

5:44 AM
i want to know after jailbrokening the device can we build an app on same jail broken device

@ManjotSingh I answered you earlier.

@jcolebrand I'm trying to rearrange the sort order.

@ManjotSingh the answer to that question is yes
@mootinator but why submit?

12 mins ago, by Moshe
So, you can likely just add it to the portal and use a Provisioning profile like any other device.

5:46 AM
@jcolebrand I suppose that's not necessary.

@Moshe can we do that with while connecting it to my mac and with xcode

@jcolebrand Thanks for pointing out my stupid =)

@Moshe dont take me in other way i was just thinking about it

@ManjotSingh Why not?
@ManjotSingh Thinking about what?

to jail broke my ipod touch
and one more thing can we revert back the process
can we revert back to original device from jail broken device

5:50 AM
Yes, just restore the firmware in iTunes.
But really, I don't feel comfortable condoning or assisting with jailbreaking, so I'm sorry, but I can't answer any more questions about jailbreaking.

@ManjotSingh yes. I said that.
11 mins ago, by jcolebrand
you do realize jailbreaking is easily reversible right?

@Moshe dont be apologise
i am closing this topic now
no more discussion on jail broken device

Well, at least there is more activity in this room... =/

@GeorgeMarian - Where have you been?

Trying to sleep.

5:52 AM
@GeorgeMarian is that a good thing in this case/

@jcolebrand I'm wondering that myself.

@GeorgeMarian hi how are you?

I'm also eyeing the ignore button.

@GeorgeMarian I've been eyeing it. I think it takes a concerted effort.

5:53 AM
@ManjotSingh Cranky, I didn't get much sleep.

Shall we all commence at once?

That would probably be the most effective way.
Painfully funny, too. :)

Night folks.

@GeorgeMarian dont say like that i am not at all cranky man

@Moshe g'night

5:54 AM
@GeorgeMarian good night

@ManjotSingh WTF? You asked me how I'm doing. Did you not?
/headdesk

@GeorgeMarian ya

lol

@GeorgeMarian you are from france
its only 7:55 only there

Nope.

5:56 AM
lol
then where are you from?

Be careful about what assumptions you make.

i thought you are from france
ok leave
i had a talk with you yesterday

Indeed.

Indeed.

(That's what is says on my "Conversation cube." BTW.)

5:58 AM
What's that?

Well, it's one of the options. The one that's facing me, obviously.

Indeed ?
lol

A paper weight.
@jcolebrand LOL I think I see what you did there.

I think I should go find food

A friend does little hobby projects with plastics.

5:59 AM
I ate like 6 hours ago, my body is not finding that duration funny

He made us these as stocking stuffers.
