12:00 AM
Though, others seem to be more mixed towards the feature meta.stackexchange.com/a/82702/351462
I specifically wanted to mention this to him to explain my recent tag edits. meta.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/50407

@StevenVascellaro I'm actually thinking your concerns regarding contacting a particular user should be extrapolated for a feature request to allow kinda commenting and voting about tag wiki (edits).
An answer might be you should achieve enough reputation to edit tag-wikis, and counter edit these yourself,

user315433
Discussion pages for tag wikis!

@πάνταῥεῖ Funnily enough, the vast majority of my wiki edits are being approved.

@Gerry NOPE!

Also, lol no. I've contributed to Wikipedia. Discussion pages would not fit the Stack Exchange model
But yeah, I don't know how to contact a user about a suggested edit review

12:06 AM
@StevenVascellaro If you have enough rep, you could start an edit war. :-P

Lmao no
Would editing tag wikis be a 2,000 or 5,000 rep thing? Can't tell from the privleges page

@StevenVascellaro So settle down and take a good glass of wine (or beer) ;-)

@πάνταῥεῖ could be a FR anyway ;p

@StevenVascellaro I didn't lookup, but I think it's similar like reviewed edits below 2k and forcing edits above that.
@JourneymanGeek I'm not sure that would fly well.
@Journey Would you really want to start a discussion in comments about your trusted edits at a post?

user315433
@StevenVascellaro The exist on Documentation, and tag wikis are closer to Documentation than to Q&A.

user315433
12:15 AM
They are sort of pre-historic Documentation.

@Gerry I don't really know much about the Documentation section

@Gerry I mentioned that. Though do you really think discussion is necessary there?

@πάνταῥεῖ no. But people can always find me on chat so they can gave a chat on chat ;p

@JourneymanGeek Well, at least currently finding me at chat is a bad and dead end experience ;-)

@πάνταῥεῖ some people actually seem to think they come out of it smarter ;p

12:29 AM
@JourneymanGeek I'm not that kind of user creating sockpuppets to circumvent that. I don't think of that being smart at all :P

lol
Well, if they get caught, they eventually might learn not to do that
one hopes...

^Gotta go pukeing
Being more honest:
I never was about wearing "sock-puppets" is a valuable thing. Trying to teach our children by wearing "masks" and giving "appropriate views"? Nope, though being an amateur actor I seriously vote aganst such.

lol
I try to be as genuine as possible on the internet. Woof.

Woof spelled backwards is backwards.

12:43 AM
@JourneymanGeek Good attitude IMO!

(besides, with my luck... my current 'low reputation' sock... HNQed)
on the bright side, I have a small pool of "no drawbacks" reputation I can give as bounties

I never got the point of sock puppets on SE

@StevenVascellaro as a high reputation user, some stuff (ironically) gets hidden

Polyphonic soliloquies.

@JourneymanGeek How so?

12:47 AM
And there's a guy who basically has 3 >10k accounts, and is an absolute legend

@StevenVascellaro Were you ever banned, or even in danger being so?

@StevenVascellaro I initially did it to play with suggested edits when I first could do edits on my own

I got question banned from Stack Overflow for a month or two
Got unbanned in the best way possible
5
A: Does earning large amounts of reputation directly affect a question ban?

Steven VascellaroTL;DR: Personal experience says no, gaining reputation does not directly affect a question ban. On the help page for question bans, it says the following: How can I get out of a question ban? The ban will be lifted automatically by the system when it determines that your positive cont...

lol
that's the preferred way to do it

@StevenVascellaro Cool! You did that (high) hurdle!

12:49 AM
Proudest accomplishment on SE

Also, my previous workplace had terrible computers which I did not trust

Get unbanned by saying you cant be unbanned

I didn't want to use my mod account on a system that may be compromised.

Google OpenID + Two Factor Authentication. :P

@StevenVascellaro meta has no rep. It was all your own hard work.

12:50 AM
@StevenVascellaro Should be worth a gold or silver bagge IMO ;-)

I've never been qbanned

@JourneymanGeek Actually, right after I posted that some guy upvoted 3 of my posts

I'm a little too cautious I guess.

That got me unbanned XD
Its more I had no idea what I was doing when I started on SE
Asked a lot of stupid questions

lol
Well, I started pretty early on SU...
so no one really did

12:52 AM
@StevenVascellaro We all did to some extend.

I've never really asked a lot of questions

@JourneymanGeek Well, years ago I started with asking a question.

but my early answers are sometimes terrible.
I saw a mention of SU on slashdot
and I thought "this is cool"

@πάνταῥεῖ My spelling was worse than it is now, I had idiosyncratic grammar sometimes...
I probably had much worse social skills than I have now.
(People might have trouble believing some of this ;p)

1:00 AM
Well, dögs are known for extraordinary good social skills and interaction with humans. I believe you're a fine and good guy at all ;-).

takes training XD

^ cough (literally)

yup
Well, kinda
Our housemutt kinda figured out a lot of stuff on his own
"These people let me poo on grass. Yay. I am NEVER EVER POOING IN THE HOUSE AGAIN!"
... like the day we got him

user202362
@πάνταῥεῖ so you reckon humans are lesser of social animals than dogs?

@Telkitty hmm. This is likely

1:04 AM
@JourneymanGeek Wear that cap with dignit!!y ;-)

lol
I need a new one without the snaggleteeth ;p

Well, human beings have some potential about getting social, but in general they manage that worse that dogs or cats actually do.
Maybe just some subjective perception :-/.
Probably cockroaches will be the overall winners in managing to rule that frickin' planet.

lol
cats are clear that you're below them.
Dogs are rediculously easy to read once you know them
humans arn't

@JourneymanGeek Yeah! Pretty much every day!

There's a local feral cat that deigns to allow me to pet her if she's grouchy

1:10 AM
@JourneymanGeek Blenders, nothing more most of the time.

otherwise she igmores me ;p

user202362
@JourneymanGeek That's because you are probably reading the human the wrong way. Instead of trying to monitor their emotions, it's best to trying to figure out their motives

@Telkitty that's how I do chat. But that means actually knowing the person to an extent

user202362
On a unrelated note, given the limited samples, I found correlation between 1337 tr011s and real estate industry :x

lol.
I agree

1:14 AM
@Telkitty Humans (and apes) learned to pursue the concept of lying. I'm not sure that's a gain of value!
@Telkitty Minor point to recognize people like D.J. being weird trolls alltogeteher!

@JourneymanGeek Donald (Jump the Gun Duck) Trump!

@JourneymanGeek NOPE! There's nothing OK with that! (Citing Marcellus from Pulp Fiction)

more like "I get what you mean"

1:19 AM
I have 2 AP exams tomorrow. Anyone else in high school? I can never keep track.
Y'all are kittehs and duggoz to me.

I'm a fair bit past obedience high school

You should never conflate those two.

only cause its too damned true

Well, why are you trying to come here?
I'm not at high school. But may be you could learn something about _real life_ , so why bother?

0_0
the chinese built a fighting bot.
I like this future

1:22 AM
What's a bot that can't fight?

youtu.be/5x1AVFRpUHQ I wish they didn't film at potato resolution tho

user315433
@bjb568 hichris and doorknob (but he's not around often)

*doorknoob

user315433
It was meant as an anagram of "dork noob" to begin with

user315433
And Santa Claus, I think.

1:27 AM
@Gerry Well, don't stress those "high school" people to much please

Ooh, I never saw it as an anagram.
But I don't see much of anything as an anagram. Anagrams are hard.

@bjb568 Good luck with your exams!
@bjb568 "Analgrams" are harder!

o_0

Well, I should go to bed early. Night!

1:32 AM
@bjb568 Chem and psych I guess.

@bjb568 May be that helps you with volving in nightmares all along, sure.

@Gerry Do you know the Hogfather?
Terry Pratchett's Hogfather is a two-part television adaptation of Hogfather by Terry Pratchett, produced by The Mob, and first broadcast on Sky One, and in High Definition on Sky1 HD, over Christmas 2006. First aired in two 1.5 hour episodes on the 17th and 18 December 2006 at 20:00 UTC, it was the first live-action film adaptation of a Discworld novel. In 2007, the two episodes were rerun on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day respectively on Sky One and Sky1 HD. Hogfather won the Interactivity Award at the 2007 BAFTA TV Awards for its use of the interactive options available on digital television...

user315433
Psychology is just applied chemistry.

@Gerry Regarding Santa Claus
@Gerry Nope, there's certainly more!

1:42 AM
@Gerry sometimes physics...

user202362
I wonder ... how many 3000+ meters high mountains are within 100km from the ocean?

@Gerry The grounding principle of fractal patterns always is: The whole extends always the part of all its sms.

user202362
most the tall mountains are inland

@Telkitty Good basic question. May be people like Humboldt were already measuring such stuff.
SUM() function I meant of course!

Anyone have an example of an edit suggestion that was "Approved and Edited"? I need to take a screenshot for an answer

user202362
1:48 AM
Mauna Kea seems to be a good candidate

Or, if I made an edit to a question, would it possible for someone to "Approve and edit" for demonstration purposes?

user202362
I assume I need to find islands with tall mountains

user202362
Japan & New Zealand should be good candidates

user202362
island with earthquakes to be more exact

1:56 AM
there's no approve and edit
there's only "improve edit

@JourneymanGeek Really? I could have sworn this was implemented meta.stackexchange.com/questions/209349/…

@Telkitty Well, good sex as a surrogate?? o_O

@JourneymanGeek Right, but how does "Improve edit" show up in history?

user202362
@πάνταῥεῖ speaking of which, if you have sex with a zombie, will you become a zombie too?

2:00 AM
Does it show the community user in the edit history?

@Telkitty depends if there's biting, or if something falls off/

@Telkitty A zompiyre or something ;-)

user202362
no biting, zombie all tied up

I suppose if its a voodoo zombie probably not

@Telkitty I'm old and watching geek shows ;-)

2:02 AM
@hichris123 Yep, and taking APES on the alternate day.

user315433
Where are you taking apes to?

@Telkitty To say that straight: You're too young to have good sex with me. I'm an ole man taking some jester's licence ;-)
@Gerry Bonobos are quite intelligent!
The females in particular!

ooi. this is getting strange.

@Journey To some point, yes.
@Journey Well @tellkitty is trolling as usual. I just try to respond that beyond ;-)

@JourneymanGeek Looks like I was wrong. Community is still listed on "Improved Edits"

2:14 AM
ah, there you go

@StevenVascellaro Regular review? I thought you were asking about tag wiki edits?

@πάνταῥεῖ I was asking about tag wiki edits earlier
The "Approve and Edit" question was based on this post meta.stackexchange.com/questions/209349/…
I was trying to verify whether or not that feature request was implemented
It was not

@StevenVascellaro So that's another question here, Seems I've been missing that, sorry.

No problem

@StevenVascellaro You're not my major one here now. Seems to be @Telkitty and I was leaning far out of my window ;-)
@Telkitty I'm expecting an extraordinary feilne bite!

2:45 AM
@bjb568 The people I know are doing the reverse, chem on alternate.

3:02 AM
@hichris123 @bjb568 get off my lawn What's APES?

user315433

user202362
@JourneymanGeek when you live up to my age and have gained enough wisdom, you would know that many facts are presented to you, subtly manipulated to suit some other people's goals

3:28 AM
How can I remove stars as a room owner

@Koolman click on the downward arrow to the right of the starred post that turns up when you hover, cancel stars
Assuming ROs can. I haven't been a RO proper in a while

Thanks a lot @JourneymanGeek

5 hours later…
8:15 AM
hello, anyone here?

Vaguely :p
It's been quiet today

can i ask a question you might be able to answer?
i found a bug on the ios app, and posted a question on the arqade meta. i then realized that the app has a thing that requests bugs be asked about on meta.se, so should I create another question on meta.se that describes the problem and reference the original, flag the original for migration, or just leave it?

You might have just asked one, but sure, you can try another?

8:30 AM
ive heard that any question on any site tagged with bug is sent to the devs, but i havent used meta.se much besides reading policies and such, so im not sure of how everything is handled here.
@JourneymanGeek clever. see message above yours for my question :)

Ah. CMs monitor site meta's. But in this case, ask for a migration.
There's a specific dev who does iOS and he watches meta.se

ok thanks. ill flag the question for migration

Deleting and reposting ought to be fine too I suppose

hopefully whoever gets notifications for crash reports didn't get too bogged down, i may have crashed my app 50+ times trying to nail down as many details as I could get to help with debugging and fixing the problem

8:47 AM
Ah. No idea about that. My Android client has minor bugs but hardly crashes.

user202362
Ok, when you see this:

user202362

user202362
do you think of any store, or just grocery store?

9:05 AM
@Telkitty for some reason that green makes me think of toilets

user202362
~_~

user202362
but to answer the question?

user202362
general or grocery store?

2 hours later…
11:04 AM
@Telkitty Any really

But especially toilets
today's quiet. I can't find anything to answer ._.

I guess a lot of countries are having a day off

user202362
11:32 AM
Labour Day (Labor Day in the United States) is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. For most countries, Labour Day is synonymous with, or linked with, International Workers' Day, which occurs on 1 May. For other countries, Labour Day is celebrated on a different date, often one with special significance for the labour movement in that country. In Canada and the United States, Labour Day...

user202362
this?

user202362
labour day is the day you don't have to labour for $, such irony

@Telkitty yeah

1 hour later…
12:56 PM

1:41 PM
May I? May be.

1:59 PM
Ho @JasonC

eyyyyyyy
30 messages moved to Chimney

How's your "No its not labour day you damned commies" go?

Lol
Just another monday

ah
I'm stalking reading old chat posts ;p

2:17 PM
@JourneymanGeek crap now you got me doing it too

lol
What are you looking at? ;p

my own starred posts, because narcissism, lol. i found this fun query data.stackexchange.com/meta.stackexchange/query/214009/… back in chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/89?m=2271914#2271914

ah
I've not really been active here that long

wasn't there a way to sort all messages in a room by # of stars? i thought there was.

hm
Don't think so

2:29 PM
stackoverflow.com/a/871420/616460 is kinda funny. the most "controversial" post on so according to that query anyways. guess joel's got a knack for it.

also i love posts where the score is like, +2. then you click and it's +412858/-412856 or something. surprise!

user315433
@JasonC nope - can do it with search results, but there is no way to make the search return all messages

boo

user315433
I wish that searching for empty string would return all messages. How hard could it be to implement?

2:31 PM
all messages would be a lot of data
(but I generate a ton of that on chat.se ;p)

user315433
It's not like there is an impossibly overwhelmingly colossal volume of data in chat.

@Gerry ._.
Yes?

it's not really that much data when you paginate it and do the queries accordingly
it's all sitting there in the database anyways

user315433
status-feature-request

I'd say... in the tens of millions on CSE

user315433
2:32 PM
Although requesting chat features is... :/

yeah... some day when i make that misc. chat web app thing i keep talking about i'll add star searching too

i already intend to add a better search

@JasonC hah, steal all the features ._.
No one does replies right like SE. and starwalls

lol

user315433
2:33 PM
We can search Stack Overflow posts for is: which is exactly the empty search.

my poor laptop battery

it's at 45% of its original design capacity. it's very sad.

and not replacable?

it is. i should order a new one. this is my second one.
they're expensive though.

2:35 PM
ah
I have .... a place locally

user315433
There's a workaround: institute the policy that every chat message must contain "lol". Then we can use search for "lol" to sort the messages by stars.

i'm pretty sure that 45% is a lie, too. it sort of plummets to 0 from 10%.

@Gerry ._.
Sadly if I ever tried to use a sock here, that would give me away

@JourneymanGeek lol... sounds legit. fresh off the back of a truck?

@JasonC oh, means one or more cells is completely ****ed
@JasonC naw, they wholesale the cells

2:36 PM
@Gerry or *

ohh

so they do rebuilds.

i wonder if i could combine the better condition cells from my old battery, which i still have

@JasonC might not be straighfroward
the cells are spot welded + sometimes there's a chip that remembers that cells are dead

i can do the connections, but the chip, hm, i wonder. only one way to find out. maybe there's a secret fw command to reset that, too.

2:38 PM
I can walk into their store in Sim Lim Square, and have a reasonable chance of getting a battery there cheaper than the original manufacturer that won't blow up on me.

why would it do that? to prevent overheating / fires?
some guy on youtube did a battery repair like that on rechargeable tool batteries, he found the dead cells by looking at the ones that got unreasonably hot while recharging.

user202362
@JourneymanGeek Singapore electronics are relatively cheap, especially in Sim Lim tower or Sim Lim square

@JasonC just ... oddness with batteries and the layouts
@Telkitty I so need to do a SLS run when I have money again ._.

user202362
just keep your laptop plugged in whenever you have the chance

@Telkitty SLT is more for component, tho for for fancier stuff, there's this shop called koba in chinatown

2:41 PM
@NickCraver meta.stackexchange.com/revisions/295285/4 made me laugh. did the sight of his signature finally become too much to bear? lol
you held out for almost 2 hours.

Nah, just uncool for us not to follow guidelines in the community IMO, one people are just unaware of a lot of the time

@Telkitty yeah i do, that's mostly why i haven't ordered a new battery yet. i rarely use it unplugged these days.

user315433
@JasonC Shog did the same in 2014, meta.stackexchange.com/posts/243006/revisions

I don't usually chime in, but when something irrelevant detracts from the point too...yeah, just needs fixing =P

2:42 PM
@Gerry lol

@JasonC and you can't buy batteries from the internet any more. THANKS SAMSUNG

clearly tom limoncelli is asking for a question ban

@JourneymanGeek wait what?

@JasonC Most places won't ship em.

2:43 PM
ohh right, that

user315433
There is still meta.stackexchange.com/a/287569 and meta.stackexchange.com/a/259527 although in the latter the signature carries additional content.

@JasonC heh. Limoncelli is a minor legend in the sysadmin set ;)

My job is generally to make sure you don't know what I'm doing behind the scenes, but a read-only test is a little hard to hide...

Would be almost fun to watch...

@NickCraver "you don't know what I'm doing behind the scenes" you say that, but your twitter account disagrees, lol

2:45 PM
@JasonC er... he does a lot of bizzare home electronics, and tries very hard not to sell trilogy domains to startups? ;p

To be fair, Tom's earlier posts didn't have a diamond, hence the tag

oh
are you one of those iot toilet flusher people

noting employees somehow on meta is something we've debated serveral times

@NickCraver its vaguely obvious on meta.

i suggest 💩

2:47 PM
only if you have a diamond

@JasonC .-.

e.g. if I'm answering something sometimes I should be an employee/authoritative, but often I'm just a community member and should have no special indicator

@JourneymanGeek i resent that, pudding is a good thing
everybody loves dessert.

note for example reddit, sometimes the admins are red, often they're not - it's on the post/comment, not the person

@NickCraver Kinda, but what you say has a little weight.

2:48 PM
@JourneymanGeek it usually shouldn't though, I'm an idiot and freely admit this

@NickCraver maybe something like changing the color of your username links or something. with an option to not show the color change if you want the post to be "unofficial".
i dunno it's easy enough to tell. fwiw as a user i have no problem identifying employees. usually you can just look at somebody's profile. also, context.

@NickCraver its a problem mods have, though obviously to a lesser extent.
(I occationally say stuff and go "Unmodhattedly I think so")

and also a lot of times it doesn't matter. for stuff like answers to questions, if a post is reasonable then its reasonable, diamond or not.

the indicator itself isn't really the point of the discussion: that's minor, where and when to show one is the thing

user315433
@JourneymanGeek Being idiots?

2:50 PM
@Gerry that too.

my thinking has moved to: it should be a bit on the post, but not my call and back burnered for now anyway
I'm just responsible for making whatever we do go very fast =P

if a non-diamond says "we have a script on the servers that runs weekly and deletes all comments containing links to rick astley videos" i don't think anybody would question it.

@NickCraver which is appreciated.
@JasonC oh, people would ask for citations.
and others would complain its essential

and we'd happily give them speeding tickets

and some more complain about censorship

2:52 PM
stop being realistic, jeez
nobody needs that
i don't have enough coffee in me to separate idealism from reality right now.

And here's the best part.

wait

before you continue
is it really the best

This is the best way to deal with them.

2:53 PM
lol

(cause it completely ruins their day when you're totally reasonable)

oh i know
my favorite way to troll youtube comments is to treat unreasonable people with respect.

nobody sees it coming.

Yup
(though occationally, legs need breaking ._.)

2:56 PM
i think legs should be randomly broken, regardless of the person's opinion. no need to be picky.

lol. politely of course
and tbh, I rarely have to use force in moderation.

lol

Most people are actually reasonable.
(and some of the clueless just wander off)

one of my favorite things ever, is every year we've got this festival, about 2500-3000 people, i run the parking lot and gate. i love it, because it's ridiculously fun to tell unticketed hippies to turn around and go home. every once in a while, when we're lucky, it gets physical.

2:59 PM
it's like real life moderator
