Man, the more I think about kids, the more I think I should have them in my twenties before I become old and boring.
I found a girl who thinks the same now.
Dunno whether to marry or be suspicious.
Of course, there's no way I'll be able to do that unless I win the lottery or something, which would require participating in the lottery…
But the feels, man. Kids are great and great now.
Career progression and societal expectations just get in the way of actual happiness.
Or, maybe I should polish up my skills and get into academia where I can be sheltered from reality and raise my kids.

user315433
@bjb568 In Zaq state, 14-year-old can marry. Dunno about yours.

Nah, I'm not going to actually marry anybody.
Hopefully ever, I plugged numbers into a tax calculator and it said marrying would cost like $20k/year.
why push for marriage for everyone, I'd push for separation of church and state

user315433

there are two escaped baby bunnies in the park nearby (and 1 wild hare), maybe I will see 100's of them next year if council doesn't interfere

@zaq you just answered my question with a question... which shows my point?
@Telkitty how big is the park? That would be kinda cool but I could see it also being a problem.

@ɥʇǝS All communication is rhetoric, the only difference is whether or not we're scared to talk about what we think is right.

there we go again heh

user315433
"Since when is X?" is usually a thinly veiled disapproval of X, not a sincere question.

can't know if you never treat it as one.

user202362
Seriously though @bjb, you have chosen the wrong role model - zaq is a proof that old is boring, but why don't you check out other examples? I can assure you that old doesn't imply boring - most hikers I know did one of the greatest trails in their 30's & 40's. And usually people have more money as they get older, you can build drones, you can make DIY AI robot, you can travel the world with your AI robots. You can design and make 'smart' house

I didn't know Amazon Order History Report existed... too bad it goes back only to 2006-01-01. Still informative: 634 orders since 2006-01-01, totaling over 17K USD. Now, to figure out the time invested in SE since 2012 and its USD equivalent...

Currently, the house is on the market for 1 whole week, 4 groups have visited, half application received and withdrawn (probably because I requested more info to do background check on or they genuinely changed their mind). But as of this morning, the main competitor is rented after being on the market for a week. Main competitor because it's also a 3 bedroom house but doesn't need to share backyard, with garage and is on a quiet street - but most importantly it's only $10 more than what I ask.

user202362
Now it's either 2 bedroom houses for slightly less than what I ask or same (3 bedroom) for at least 15% more (which is nearly $100 more per week). I have 2 group desperately wanting to inspect the house today and other one tomorrow.

user202362
The asking price was of course, what I estimated based on the market condition when I first put out advertisement. Now the market has not deteriorated. Looks like it's going to track the usually 2-4 week time frame for renting a house.

"where's bjb?" Your friends ask. "Oh... He's hooked on child rearing. Tried an intervention, but he went right back to it. So tragic."

That almost sounds like a crime.

And one day you look up and realize that years have passed and all you have to show for it is a new generation to replace you when you die any day now.

You missed the starting gun.

Which, as addictions go, ain't the worst thing I guess. Although coffee is almost as good and slightly cheaper.

9:25 AM
@ShadowWizard No, I mean the grace period will be terminated by the post score changing

Posting a comment is aborting the grace period by the way.

So when I flag a rude/abusive post, the post gets a -1 and the guy can't ninja-edit

@M.A.R. the -1 isn't real vote

seems JNat is getting ready for tomorrow.... My Pinkie-sense tells me he is going to magically "disappear" during the weekend, only to reappear much latter with a weird smile, rambling confused words about runes, mountains, broken swords and the like...

@ShadowWizard But the score changes
Did you read that post and animuson's answer?

9:27 AM
@M.A.R. partially, didn't really understand why declining it.

@ShadowWizard The answer made sense. It said that since flags aren't visible, people will end up confused and head to meta

waiting for @Telkitty to notice the message sent to Bart

@M.A.R. oh. Makes sense. Anyway, aborting grace period by voting sounds too extreme, it will abort major part of the grace periods and create tons of useless revisions. So not sure about that.
Better request will be to keep record of edits even within grace period, and allow moderators to see that.

@ShadowWizard I don't think it will be tons

@M.A.R. people vote a lot, and people edit a lot, fixing tiny one letter mistakes.

9:33 AM
@ShadowWizard When people see they don't have to rush against a 5-minute window to correct typos, they'll take more time and make less trivial edits

Yesterday I found out how much I depend on having internet access. My internet broke down so I couldn't play online games, couldn't watch Netflix, couldn't watch Plex because for some reason that requires internet access even though everything is local. And I don't have cable TV. So I had to make do with my phone, which sucked hard.

I ask you, dwellers of the Tavern... what is the chance of getting a GUID collision while developing a SharePoint feature? because that is what just happened.

@rene the coffee machine? Sure. Brb
@Derpy GUID collisions never happen, except when you really don't want it to happen.

user202362

10:03 AM
@Derpy I recall an instance where a C# method (.Net 1.1 era) in BizTalk would generate duplicate guids if you ran the Guid.NewGuid() in a very tight loop. Knowing SP I doubt it is that optimized that is even capable of invoking stuff that often. I say it is a bug, not a guid issue.

user202362
@Derpy ?

10:18 AM
@Derpy not SharePoint (well, SQL Server, close friend), but it happened. You're just (un)lucky

10:43 AM
@rene two different developers, two different machines. The GUID is an unique identifier that is associated to a Feature when you create it in VS. Basically, when you select "Add -> New Feature" the template creates a new stub with a randomly generated GUID. When you install the solution, SP uses said guid to identify the feature. As a result, if two feature use the same guid, you will experience FUN (see: Dwarf Fortress definition of FUN) .....
For example, if one feature is deactivated, the other one will too and so on...
.....
Anyway, probably "VS random GUID generator" isn't exactly random...

Looks like I may have written the last check of my life... even the landlord takes electronic bank transfers now. Come to think of it, do checkbooks even exist anywhere outside the U.S.?

@zaq oh yeah.
"landlords" here accept only checks so far. 12 in advance, for a full year.
Can one send a delayed electronic bank transfer, that will surely give the money in exact time in the future no matter what?

user315433
They can be scheduled, yes.

Though businesses these days all accept credit cards, except very few.
@zaq hmm... so maybe one day the landlords will switch as well, but considering their age is usually... higher than average... I doubt it will happen in this generation.

user315433
Having to pay rent a full year in advance is kind of harsh.

I doubt a 70 years old man will bother to learn about it just to make the life of those who rent easier. He prefers to walk once a month to the bank, put the check, and get the money.

Srinivasa Iyengar Ramanujan FRS (pronunciation: /ˈʃriːniˌvɑːsə ˈrɑːmɑːˌnʊdʒən/; 22 December 1887 – 26 April 1920) was an Indian mathematician and autodidact who lived during the British Raj. Though he had almost no formal training in pure mathematics, he made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. Ramanujan initially developed his own mathematical research in isolation; it was quickly recognized by Indian mathematicians. When his skills became obvious and known to the wider mathematical community, centred in Europe at the time...
