Okay, the banner has a button called dismiss, let's click...

Someone is unclear on the concept of "dismiss".

[Make shorter and turn off word-wrap]
@bjb568 so that's what you kids are using the the thumb emoji for?

I had a moderate amount of fun writing a Google Apps script that copied Spring 2016 class / homework schedule to Spring 2017 (I'm using Google Calendar for this stuff, and teaching the same class in Spring 17 as in Spring 16). Tweaked the dates to align them with the beginning of semester, of course... And only after running all this, remembered 2016 was a leap year. ARGH.

Starting a comment with "Welcome to [site]" is in the same category as starting a question with "Hi". Should be auto-removed or at least discouraged.

user315433
To hell with canned niceties.

@zaq It's part of the autocomments script.

Wow, the sacrifices some people are willing to make...

Hard to cast a close vote on MSO these days, with those pesky gold badge holders around... @rene :)

9:19 AM
@Stijn you're welcome ;)

9:53 AM
rather long lived ...

@rene gone

Thx

10:24 AM
just wondering.
has anyone noticed any easter egg on the Winter Bash site this year?

nope
would be a fun thing for Easter though
eggs hidden all over the site

so they probably dropped that.
oh, well. One post less to create.

11:03 AM
Yay, I have 20 of these trophies now!
No wait, not 20.
Only 16 of them.

Can I have the mission accomplished hat for this?

11:25 AM
@b_jonas I bet you are happy you got the Lunar Republic version of that hat instead of the Sun Empire one...

@rene you made the OP argue that Documentation is very useful. Not sure what to think of that.

11:58 AM
@Bart don't blame me for unwanted side-effects ...

Can someone add rene to the wheel of blame?

@hichris123 @Pops @JasonC ^ could any of you RO change the Wheel of blame link in the room description to this one? I have updated it to be a little more accurate...

@Derpy I like that one :D

1:02 PM
@Derpy and here I was hoping there was some dynamic generation going on. Flagged for bullying. How dare you!

1:14 PM
@Bart it uses some very complex neural networks developed by a partnership between Nasa, Google, the Illuminati, Mu, the gray aliens and some more I don't remember right now.
Don't blame me if their superior intelligence has come to the logical conclusion that you are the root of every problem :P
(hopes Bart doesn't actually check the code and find out his name is hardcoded)

Let me brake his glasses to make that harder for him ...

1:59 PM
@rene blaming me for everything. Breaking my glasses. Since when has this become the Bart abuse channel?

2:17 PM
@Bart wait a second... it is not "your glasses". You are the glasses. Remember?
You are a pair of glasses, bjb568 is a cat, Infinite is a duck and so on..

:5622689 You have to be pretty mad when you take the time to register on a Q&A website to complain about something that happened to you

that final comment was all that was needed @Bart ... all I needed to do was cast a rude flag...

Myeah, I did the same
No saving it really

true
@Stijn maybe re-brand to C&A sites.
Or M&S
You have to think out-of-the-box. But start with a very large box ...

2:40 PM
so uncreative.... they should hire someone Pinkier for those hats triggers....
So many wasted opportunities.
The Hatters should have been awarded for asking some tea to the chat bot in the chemistry room.

@hichris123 Somone who has forgotten the "sometimes 'y' clause".

I'll be looking for a chance to say "cwm" in public...

Meanwhile, while we're posting code: my Python disappointment of the day is that
[a*b for a in range(b) for b in range(4)] throws "b is not defined".

!!/alive?

@zaq Bummer. That seems like a useful and expressive syntax.

7:18 PM
@zaq I'm going to use this for hangman in the future.
I currently confuse people with words like jazziest and carbocation.

Yeah, that's the ticket

not that I'm against getting hats, mind you
I just really like URL slugs

speaking of t.co links

A: Where is my Amped Up Hat?

bluefeetThere definitely was a bug here. It was very obscure and it took the developers several days to figure out why you were not getting accurate counts from sharing your link via Twitter. The basic gist of the fix from Marc is: As reported, t.co shortened links were not being recorded correctl...

that was quite a bug

@Shog9 uh huh. I thought we were discussing newts :p

or (supposedly) Windows 9 couldn't be released because of Windows 95

ok, got an "Announcer" badge.
Only other site where I have that badge is Seasoned Advice, and only there because Sam used my ID in a link on Lifehacker. So strictly-speaking, this is the only time I've actually earned that badge.

user315433
Never used "share" links on Twitter before?

I guess that's good, since they were broken

user315433
Ah yes, and Nick's tweet explained why...

I almost never use "share" links period

It wasn't there last time I looked at the list.
