@Pandya I am pretty sure all sites have it. I know SO does, and I don’t see why other sites wouldn’t. Of course, whether or not they actually use the feature is a different story entirely…

@AlexisKing ok

@bjb568 The worst advice
Being late can cost you everything. You can get fired or seriously reprimanded from work for that, you can fail entire university exams by showing up late, you can fail entire uni courses for consistently showing up late.

@Magisch that said, context should be considered too. The thing with the pool seems pretty pathetic, so unless there is some reason for that behavior I wouldn't put all the blame on the son.

@Derpy Well no, but I was commenting on the fact that the answer said being on time is meaningless
Maybe I'm biased in this because I'm german, but being late is almost never okay or desireable.

@Magisch again, it depends on the context. 2 minutes can be important when you have a reason to not be late.
if you are just going to the supermarket across the road, by foot... then I would argue that the 2 minutes don't really matter.

@rene Some of the failings of democracy are making themselfes known
Whether it be brexit or trumps election or any election, in a year as plagued as this one by upset of established thinking and voting, the flaws are apparent
It's just still the best system though :)

@Magisch how are they failings of democracy?

@Bart well democracy is supposed to represent an informed consensus of the people
Somewhat imperfectly
And drive by voting, uninformed voting, and low turnout are failings of democracy because they unduely influence the outcome
If it were to work absolutely correctly, voting would have to be mandatory and everyone would have to be correctly and well informed
And the well informed point is why it's so error prone - you can very easily convince people to vote against their own best interest using propaganda and such.

Sure. But that goes for any election at any time. Not just for elections where the outcome is not what you'd like it to have been.

Of course
@Bart But if the elections go largely as expected and as accepted by the majority, these failings don't come up
This year's two big electoral upsets have deeply shaken the trust in a democratic system overall across the world

I don't see how it affects trust @Magisch. And if it does, the blame is put in the wrong place.

10:47 AM
@Bart People trust democracy to be effective in getting a general OK consensus of overall governance right
Both in Brexit and in the US election so many people feel like the democratic process has had a so disastrously bad outcome this time that it's time to abandon it alltogether
Made apparent by things like people petitioning the high court or parliament to block brexit or people calling to impeach trump on day1 and pence on day2 and to institute a permanent fillibuster until 2020.

Democracy is an active process. If there really is a majority upset over the outcome, they didn't turn out in those numbers and only have themselves to blame. It's not the process that failed, it's them. But if there is no so majority, then the process worked just fine.

@Bart See thats where we disagree
I think voting should be mandatory anyways. A democratic system is a duty as much as it is a right
It's also besides the point. People won't blame themselves for not turning out. They'll blame the process instead. Like I said (I don't really agree with people all blaming the process) antidemocratic sentiment only grows in the US/UK atm

Okay, antidemocratic sentiment. But that's about as useful a metric as the "fear of crime increases" when in fact crime figures are going down.

I'm historically biased in this, but a rise in antidemocratic sentiment is very alarming to me
The last time this happened over here was thoroughly unpleasant for everyone involved.

It sure is. Although I believe it to be a temporary effect in this case. People thought (fueled by news media) that their candidate/choice could never lose. And guess what ... upsets happened. And introspection is not what people tend to go for in such cases. But give it time.

10:55 AM

user315433
An online community manager builds, grows, and manages online communities, performing Community management, often around a brand or cause. == History == The origins of the term (online) community manager take their root in the computer games industry with the advent of MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games) back in 1995. Roles have expanded to include a wide variety of responsibilities and skill-sets including social media management, marketing, PR, and customer support. Game community management often includes supporting open communications between the developer and pla...

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14 in the month/day date format) since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of π. In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day. Pi Approximation Day is observed on July 22 (22/7 in the day/month date format), since the fraction  22⁄7 is a common approximation of π, which is accurate to two decimal places and dates from Archimedes. == History == The earliest known official or large-scale celebration of Pi Day was organized by Larry Shaw in...

@zaq judging by the tons of bugs and the total lack of response from the team to bug reports about this "new nav" (last bug was fixed year ago, not a single one since), this is most likely a failed project.
