But yeah, @zaq is right; both of those would work.

@HizHa You can follow Shog's link about how to escalate (What recourse do I have if I believe a moderator has abused his or her privileges) and follow the instructions there, but honestly, the best course of action is usually to let the mod be right (very rarely are mods made to walk back their decisions) and have positive interactions with the rest of the sites.
By having more positive interactions you can demonstrate that you really are a good guy.

I like the image & quote, but animation loop doesn't really add to it...

user315433
Why don't browsers have an option to stop animated gifs?

@HizHa I think it’s perfectly fine to question whether or not moderators are being abusive or nonconstructive as long as you can actually give examples of abuse. Vague accusations of abuse levied against community volunteers is not going to be terribly well-recieved.

@HizHa The hardest thing I ever had to learn was how to say was, "You're right." when I didn't really feel it.

Moderators are civil people—it’s in the job description. They’re willing to have a conversation with you if you think you’ve been unfairly punished or talked down to.
But you are expected to be civil, too, unless you’ve been egregiously harmed in some way, and I find that unlikely.

@zaq I wish we could hide posts like we can hide all of a user's posts.
I would use that on most images and probably one-boxes as well.

user315433
There's DevTools of course. Has anyone written a userscript to add "hide" button to chat messages? Don't remember seeing one.

The pop-up options are "interesting" and "spam/offensive"... so polarized.

To have a chip on one's shoulder refers to the act of holding a grudge or grievance that readily provokes disputation. == History == "A chip on the shoulder" comes from the ancient right of shipwrights within the Royal Navy Dockyards to take home a daily allowance of offcuts of timber, even if good wood was cut up for this purpose. The privilege was instated as a prescriptive right from 1634. By 1756, this privilege had been abused and was costing taxpayers too much in lost timber for warship repair and construction. The decision was then made by the Navy Board to limit the quantity a shipwright...
Interesting read, but I think the section about the ship-builders was a bit long.
Perhaps we should try to remove the chips from our own shoulders and not seek to knock off the chips from other's shoulders.

Perhaps we should ditch idioms that require a lengthy Wikipedia article.

@zaq It's one of the things that really stuck with me from reading Tom Sawyer as a child.

user315433
I remember it really confused me when I listened to I'll cry instead.

Hm, the userscript works from the console but not in Tampermonkey...

@zaq blame @TravisJ
anyway, I'm out, need some sleep

Certain flowers, much like people, tend to retire after the sun goes down.But flowers that close up at night, such as tulips, hibiscus, poppies and crocuses, aren't sleepy. They're just highly evolved. Plants that tuck themselves in for bedtime exhibit a natural behavior known as nyctinasty.

Blaming jQuery... a bunch of errors related to $ methods. Whatever

@zaq Have you tried jQuery?

user315433
Even multiple versions. :) Chat is still using 1.7.1

11:47 PM
I actually wrote some code using jQuery in the first time in what feels like years over the weekend, hah.

Never again.

user315433
... is what you swore the time before

It was surprisingly pleasant, actually! I was doing something that most abstractions cannot possible handle, and it’s still loads better than using the DOM APIs.
I had to implement some custom scrolling functionality, which involves calculating element heights and shifting things around.
