12:00 AM
@Moshe you may end up with a tank top instead of a T-shirt with a request like that ;-)

So I know that nobody gives an arse about my /. questions ... but I still want to know that anybody else sees what I see ;(

@drachenstern sorry, busy unicornscripting

@drachenstern I dun wanna go on /. :(

@TheRenamedException ??? someone's writing a unicornscript?

@the I am back in school. Though SOME people haven't noticed, the weekend is over. cough

12:01 AM
@drachenstern I AM!

@drach what /. q?

@drachenstern I'm trying to avoid reddit ...
@Moshe you should really read the transcript :p
@TheRenamedException this I gotta see ;)

I never started this mythical thing called the "weekend".

I looked around for 30 seconds and didn't see anything unusual.

It's almost like it should just trim "Hi,?" :P

12:02 AM
@TheRenamedException lmao

So should you. My hands are on and of in pain and I'm on iOS. No scrolling.

@mmyers do you login or browse anony?
@Moshe then why would you want to know what I'm trying to see on /. if you're on iOS? :p ... you are a strange duck

I assume I was anonymous.
... Yep. Been a long time since I logged in last.

I am not a DUCK!... quack ... You didn't hear that!

Yeah, I think my problem is related to having an oldtime profile, I should really commisserate with some others that I know :\

12:10 AM
Uuuugh. I can't get online.

Hmm. I'm thinking dinner and then I'll see what I can do to help get this finished up.

Thank you.
cringes at the thought of what else might have broken.

Pffft, was never not going to help ya know. q:

@Moshe Welcome to the life of a programmer. :)

@George And what a warm welcome it is.

12:17 AM
@Moshe Trial by fire usually is...um...warm.

A weekend project getting to take longer than expected. Then of course is the physical pain of lack of sleep and typing for too long. I need a short break.

@Moshe More advantages of life as a programmer. You're leaning quickly. :D

how can I see questions that I intersected with another user on?

@GeorgeMarian Switched to non mobile view to star.

@Moshe Aww...shucks.

12:19 AM
@drachenstern That was my feature request for the redesigned users page

Yeah I thought it had been suggested, but I also thought there was such a search option

Maybe a query?

@GeorgeMarian User: me user: otheruser ?

I'm not familiar with the schema, so I can't suggest anything specific.

User: me shows my questions.

12:22 AM
Ah, no way to identify users based on answers?

@drachenstern There isn't.
And yeah, someone asked about that the other day.
It would be kind of useful though, it's a shame it's not there.

user image

that's my take anyways

Have a star.

The trick here then, is to make that little asterisk into a sort of TARDIS - able, despite its apparently small area, to contain DBA egos of astronomical size.

@TimStone I asked. On Jedda question.

12:27 AM
@Shog9 well it already holds mine, and if you joined I think we could get it to be larger on the inside than the entirety of the outer portions of the venn ;)

Ooh, my second answer on SO was much worse than my first.
It was a link to another question.

> was that over the top? I can never tell

@drachenstern ;-)
@mootinator I'm quite positive I deleted my second answer a long time ago... Because the second-oldest one currently is actually rather decent, and I'm sure I wouldn't have done that intentionally.

The only objection I have to DBA is that I spend enough time insisting I'm not a DBA that it would be a bit hypocritical to start hanging around there.

@mootinator yes, that was usually my complain too ;) then I just gave up and started using it

12:33 AM
disappointed to learn that there's no buggyfunbunny on dba.SE

Gah! How did "Rachel" at "cardholder services" get my cellphone number. =/

Nor is there a little bobby tables
@GeorgeMarian she called me earlier at 1800-donttry and I guess I gave the wrong number

Thanks "becca" :p
remind me to kickban that user sometime :p

12:35 AM
@RebeccaChernoff ROFLMAO

@GeorgeMarian I used to keep a log of those, and submit them to the FTC... That was like 5 years ago. Eventually, I just gave up.

george they dialled 0118999881999118725 3 and typoed somewhere (like I must have)

I'm told I'm about to get kickbanned :p

@Shog9 Yah, I did that once when BofA kept dead-calling me. (Well, at least the caller ID said it was them.) I was considering doing it more often, but I don't know that it makes a difference. =/

@GeorgeMarian That pisses me off. If you're going to try and scam me or extract money from me for more "legitimate" things, then at least be on the other end of the damn phone when I pick up, heh.

12:37 AM
@badpssockpuppet +1 star for being accurate enough to get the jingle in my head.

@mootinator Hmm, I read that @-reply as "badass sockpuppet"

@TimStone Yah, it's just not very satisfying to yell at a robot or dead air.

@badpssockpuppet you actually renamed yourself badp's sockpuppet? I LOVE IT

who the fuck thought it was a good idea to pull it from youtube anyway? Fucking genious.

FLAGSTAR

12:40 AM
This one time I chewed a guy out for constantly calling me. He got upset and called me a "bloody rascal" (in an Indian accent). So, he called again. I then said "I thought I told you never to call this number again, you bloody rascal!" That, apparently, put a stop to it. :)

@GeorgeMarian lmao
@badpssockpuppet Wait, what? :o

oh, they put it back on. Phew.
they still pulled it and the rest from that official channel.

Ah, right.
Evil.

I should've protested by torrenting that series, I'll resort to not mentioning its name
ah, screw them. Nite.

12:47 AM
Is it just me or is this nearly unreadable: taptaptap.com/blog/apples-precedents-vs-apples-guidelines

@mootinator font or verbiage? font looks good to me

@mootinator It's just you. Normal people love gray-on-gray.

@drachenstern Zooming helps, but I was referring to the absence of contrast :)

with that page loaded, I can pretend my laptop is an etch-a-sketch!

Oh wow... > @ John: Get a better browser. It looks great on any decent, modern browser.
I guess Chrome isn't modern enough.

12:52 AM
> Election Ends in 19 hours

Yes, Chrome dev is too old.
SHAME ON ME.

I hope I'm not the first one eliminated. That would suck.

> "Fertigo", "Georgia", "Big Caslon", serif
That's quite the font stack.

VOTE drachenstern FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE & USAGE MOD!

lmao
thanks Josh ;)

12:55 AM
Anytime. When you need some Unicorns you know who to call ;-)

@TimStone they go out with a whimper then a bang ;)
@TheRenamedException yup yup, waiting for my unicornifychat script ;)
omg, genius idea!!!

@drachenstern /unicorn command?
DOOOO IT

@TimStone made it supereasy

idk what that would do
@TheRenamedException yeah, I still maintain that he stole it from me when he hadn't ever seen my proposal

12:57 AM
ChatExtension.define('unicorn',function(){ /* insert pure awesomeness here */ });

@DanGrossman can you get me a placeunicorn.com?

I can get you a plate of unicorn meat...

22 questions. Heh.
Pretty much impossible to get a unicorn badge then, I suppose.

1:05 AM
dutifully adds tag wiki

lol

:539307 ~ and the problem with that is what exactly? :p

I got 1 more reason to hate Flash now.

(I swear... "Ruby programmers" are really just a bunch of trolls off LOLing it up somewhere while the rest of us try to make sense of their terminology)

I think I just found a bug in the Flash 10 API.
And this bug is breaking functionnality in what I am developping.

1:11 AM
@statuscompleted Oh?

There's an class ExternalInterface with Flash that allows you to call Javascript function
but when you pass JSON data with that class, it pops synthax error in the javascript
0
Q: Why does ExternalInterface breaks when I pass parameter with JSON like string ?

HoLyVieRI have a very odd problem with Flash 10 and ExternalInterface. I am currently using a homemade bridge to use RTMFP with Javascript and whenever I try to pass data that contains JSON, I get a wierd Javascript error that comes from Flash : missing ) after argument list try { __flash__toXML(Flash.U...

Adobe seriously haven't tested there stuff, it breaks with data that can be common to pass around.

Ahh programmers... A tiny bit of common sense = EPIC REPS
2

@mootinator You should have left it to Programmer.SE

I don't like mentioning squatted domain names, even though everyone does know what I'm talking about :P

LOL. Morterboard on the first day of programmers with one answer :-D

1:23 AM
wow :p

:-D

@ircmaxell it was a great answer

It's XKCD, people would upvote XKCD comic even when it's not appropriate.

@statuscompleted I do not understand. When is an xkcd comic ever not appropriate??

2
A: How would you exploit this vulnerability in order to cause max damage

DaveI think this cartoon says it all. Little Bobby Tables

That was not appropriate and it got 3 upvotes
minus my downvote
Considering first answer has now 7 upvote and 2nd one has 4 upvotes, this is a lot.

1:28 AM
@TheRenamedException Agreed

I demand stars.
4

@statuscompleted Wow. I didn't expect a serious reply :-)
@statuscompleted First answer is correct though

:-D

I'm browsing Flash bug report online and I found trace of similar bug that are dated 8 months ago.
I'm starting to believe I'm gonna need patience.

nice...
for some reason I can't update flash on my ubuntu computer

1:32 AM
@statuscompleted sorry, I have been userscripting and neglecting my friends in need of help
I work with ExternalInterface a lot. Let me have a looksee

So to confirm @statuscompleted you are passing JSON data FROM flash TO javascript?

@TheRenamedException both way, but From Flash to Javascript is bogus
and 8 months ago was the reply from an admin
the bug report I'm watching is even older
Created date : 03/23/09

Ok well... obvious first solution... does it only fail if it's valid JSON? If so, why not make it invalid JSON? E.G send: '<jsonData>'+whateverYouSendNow+'</jsonData>'
then on both sides, strip <jsonData> / </jsonData> from the start and end
or, simpler: just append data follows or something to the start
but as far as your actual question...

it breaks even when I add <send> </send> around it

1:39 AM
argh
ok that sucks. One sec

The error I get is a synthax error from the browser.
Seems like it's that data that breaks the call

@statuscompleted I am trying to break on my application, but all data we send is HTML, so every time I try to get it to send a " it sends " instead...
(we send the contents of a TextField)
could you send data.replace('"','"'); ?

Hum it's not really practical though since I'm communicating from a Javascript client to an other Javascript client.
But that doesn't break
Could be a solution to escape the " and \

@statuscompleted not ideal maybe... because now each JavaScript client can't just parse the JSON, they need to transform it back
What I'm trying to say is, it's a hack ;-)

@TheRenamedException Well it's wrapped up in an interface I made

1:45 AM
hmm, right, userscript/styler time!

And can you do what they're doing, namely pass the JSON data as part of the function itself?

I'll try that
wait that's just to parse JSON using ExternalInterface

@statuscompleted Right, but the idea is there
so you could do...
ExternalInterface.call("function(){console.log("+ test +"); }");
@RebeccaChernoff My new library will be KILLER
But you missed / didn't answer my question, are libraries appropriate for StackApps?

var json = "\\\"";
ExternalInterface.call("function(){console.log(" + json + "); }");
this still breaks the browsers :(

2 hours ago, by The Renamed Exception
@RebeccaChernoff I'd like to pester you with a StackApps question: For a script (the status script) I will be creating a "helper library" in JavaScript to detect chat events. Would such a library be on-topic for posting at StackApps?

1:49 AM
@TheRenamedException read the faq (:

@statuscompleted I hate Flash :-p

goess off to find the FAQ

to be honest, I just think I have to do Flash job and escape the string
it's awfull, because they day they will fix their shit, my stuff will break

@RebeccaChernoff Yeah looks like not
@statuscompleted I hear you. it sucks.
@statuscompleted I wrote a whole thing to get around a flash selection bug. They fixed it later, and now all that code has been causing new bugs today
(well last week)

1:52 AM
that's lame

Aren't shifting sands so much fun?

Well @RebeccaChernoff when I finish this library, it will be so helpful that you'll change the FAQ. I am sure most userscripts will want to use it :-)

Note that I have no idea what you're doing, so I withhold judgement. (:

@RebeccaChernoff I am making a collection of javascript classes to represent chat rooms, users, messages and the like, and a way to attach event handlers for chat events like messages posted, edits, etc
so you could say SEChatObjects.getCurrentChatRoom().observe('messagePosted',function(message){ if(message.user.name ==...
but it's not a script, it's a library to support the status script.
Also I need a better name than SEChatObjects -- anyone have ideas?

@RebeccaChernoff wth? I swear I couldn't find that. I guess I can't spell library
Thanks :-)

shakes her head and tries to fix the userscript

@TheRenamedException Libary, huh?

@TheRenamedException I just found this : mihai.bazon.net/blog/externalinterface-is-unreliable

@RebeccaChernoff Hmm, it looks like only one required tag is displayed on that page? StackUnderflow.js has the [app] and [library] tags, but I only see [app] there.

2:00 AM
I think that sums up the problem.

@GeorgeMarian I'm keeping my foot in my mouth, @Rebecca has lost enough respect for me already ;-)

@TheRenamedException "new-Q-ler, It's pronounced new-Q-ler." ;)

@TheRenamedException lol

@statuscompleted sure enough, broken!

Ya and it seems like they are using eval too !

2:01 AM
@TimStone hmm, without looking, does it make sense for something to be an app and a library?

A broken code that uses eval, how worst could it be ?

@RebeccaChernoff I dunno, it looks like Jeff was the one to edit the tags, so. :P

@statuscompleted but FABridge sounds freaking awesome!

@RebeccaChernoff flashback to Windows EXEs that also exported functions directly

Even if it doesn't make sense, it should probably show the right required tag if it's only going to show one.

2:04 AM
so turn this into a post (;
has a userscript to fix!

Where? :P

hm, where?

Is StackApps its own meta, or is Meta StackApps' meta?

the former

metas All the way down.

2:11 AM
I wonder if one day there will be a meta.meta.stackoverflow.com

ok quickly now, who stole my remote?

@drachenstern The couch, of course.

I am pretty sure I looked all through the couch
I may have inadvertently taken it upstairs last night
or in the office this morning
trying to email someone an office key, then off to look again while my food gets cold

Don't forget to check the bathroom.

2:19 AM
I already looked there :p

Hello peoples

I don't know if yours was in jest, but I did

It was only partly in jest.
What about the gf/wife/significant-other's purse/bag? That's where my gf's cellphone usually is hidden when she can't find it. lol
@TylerChacha hola

2:21 AM
I haven't seen you in a while. Where have you been hiding?

I have been enjoying Netflix, Google Tech Talks, and trying to learn more about stuff

damn you couch, you had it almost digested

mmkay, bug #1 fixed...onwards!

wife is out of town, left last night
@RebeccaChernoff yatta!
and now the wii bar tries to block the remote signal grrr

Good thing it wasn't in her purse then, heh.

2:24 AM
lol, I have more universals, but this one is already programmed, so I didn't want to start over agin

Oh, rich man here, with multiple universal remotes. ;)

OK, dinnertime, bbl

Now, all that effort for me to decide this: :P ... do I watch Riddick, LotR, Matrix or M*A*S*H?

@drachenstern Would it happen to be one of them fancy Logitech ones?

@GeorgeMarian nah
son of a ... I got Enthusiast on dba.se before any other site

2:31 AM
@GeorgeMarian Hahaha

Best I have is the relatively crappy Comcast remote. =/

Ya know a universal remote costs like $10 or so right?

shudders

@drachenstern Nah, you got Enthusiast on SO the same day I did.

So what does that mean? Also, I meant that I've been trying to get it on SO and meta ... keep dropping the ball tho

2:35 AM
hmm, there's no styling on links until hover

@mootinator I did?
sunuva

I would want a programmable remote. Otherwise, the Comcast one is good enough. Especially since I turned on the 30-second skip feature.

then what's my new badge target? :\

spits involuntarily upon reading the word "comcast"

lol Time Warner isn't much better.

2:37 AM
Fanatic?

ok, now how do I look up my own stars on here? chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/rooms/info/89/the-tavern-general/… should do it :p
now how do I sort them by chronology?

Gah! How are they sorted by default?

@drachenstern You want to do WHAT?

by most popular stars

Ah, yes, I see.
Ironically, the popup on the tab states that it's a "chronological list of all starred messages in this room."

2:44 AM
I'm sure it's a coincidence.
Oh, I see what I did there.

@mootinator Um..yah...

Q: Feature request: Chat stars by me order by most recent

drachensternIf I visit http://chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/rooms/info/89/the-tavern-general/?tab=stars&mine=true I get a lovely little list of starred comments, but I can't find the ones that I starred most recently (not necessarily when I starred them, but the most recent comments first). How can I do s...

2:57 AM
> I know I know: wah wah poor baby.
...k?

@MichaelMrozek that was for the naysayers :p ~ You could always edit if you felt so inclined you know

@Rebecca I've read the transcript. So you've fixed the bug, I take it. If you don't mind, Fork my script on github so I can merge the changes.
