@RebeccaChernoff No problem. I'm not running away with your shirt as soon as I get it.
lol
now that you mention it...
If things need to be fixed, I'm right here.
@RebeccaChernoff er?
(kidding)
q:
Whew.
What have you two been up to last night that calls for the exchange of a t-shirt?
23:02
@RebeccaChernoff Why bring Luol Deng into this?
@RebeccaChernoff, are you going to keep half the shirt as tester payment? ;)

I would be more than happy to t-shirt and sticker anyone who feels like taking it on.. I don't think it'd be that hard
gtg
I'll be on my iPhone soon.
@Moshe You realize this quote only makes things worse?
@TimStone ooooh I like the way you think.
23:05
Yey, I have deployed an update to my clients and can work on the status script again! \o/
@RebeccaChernoff Heheh :P
I vote anyone who contributed to the code get the stickers! :-)
Where I come from, stickers are something you have to pull out of your socks and shoes (and maybe pant cuffs) after you've walked around outside in the summer.
You can get the same effect by sticking needles in your socks if you wish.
@mmyers sounds like you would also use rubbers to erase unwanted pencil marks, as opposed to preventing unwanted children
I mean, are you even American?
I hereby disown North Carolina.
23:09
@mmyers oh you mean burrs?
Impossible colors are hues that can only be perceived under specific conditions. Examples of impossible colors are bluish-yellow and reddish-green . This does not mean the muddy brown color created when mixing red and green paints, or the green color from yellow and blue, but completely unique "new" colors. Opponent process The color opponent process is a color theory that states that the human visual system interprets information about color by processing signals from cones and rods in an antagonistic manner. The three types of cones have some overlap in the wavelengths of light to whic...
A bur (also spelled burr) is a seed or dry fruit in which the seeds bear hooks or teeth which attach themselves to fur or clothing of passing animals or people. The hooks or teeth can be irritants and very hard to get off of clothing, such as wool or cotton. It was the inspiration for Velcro. Plants with burs are found in many genera: *Acaena - Piri-piri *Agrimonia - Agrimony *Ambrosia - Ragweed *Arctium - Burdock *Bidens - Bur marigold *Circaea - Enchanter's Nightshades *Galium aparine - Goosegrass *Geum - Avens *Hackelia - Stickseed *Osmorhiza - Cicely
@TheRenamedException ughhhhh i hate those things.
I have never heard those called "stickers" @mmyers. I also grew up in MA, and went to Cape Cod every summer as a kid. So I am American and am quite familiar with the concept of burrs :-)
@RebeccaChernoff Same here, what do you guys call them? "stickers"? That's new to me
23:12
@TheRenamedException I call them burrs too. Or Canadian Velcro.
Velcro Resistant Material, just wear a wet suit and you'll be free of burs!
@TimStone Canadian Velcro LMFAO
@Moshe, when the script loads, I see it defaults to the site css (\o/), but the text says "all css" ):
@TheRenamedException MA? You're not helping your case here. :P
23:14
Also, it isn't working >_<
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toString' of undefined
I sense a shipping delay ;-)
tsk tsk
@RebeccaChernoff I'd like to pester you with a StackApps question: For a script (the status script) I will be creating a "helper library" in JavaScript to detect chat events. Would such a library be on-topic for posting at StackApps?
@Rebecca where is it not working? Ff?
Chrome when I click on "all css"
(even though I'm already on all.css by default)
hmm, can we make it not say "all css", what does that mean to people?
23:25
NOBODY FEAR! THE SOCKS ARE HERE!!
Yea. I called it that after the filename. "all.CSS"
Socks, I'm on mobile and can't handl scrolling through your trash. Please go away.
Ouch. I'm hurt @Moshe. Really truly. If these socks had a heart, it would be broken :-p
@Rebecca have you uninstalled the old style switcher?
aye
@Moshe I know that. But who else would get it?
@PopularDemand you can has reps, even if you didn't want them
23:27
Sorry, socks, having a kinda rough afternoon. My hands are hurting because of a pinched nerve or something
@Moshe I'm sorry to hear that :-( I hope you feel better!
@Rebecca I need to debug again.
FWIW I am actually using my sockpuppet for a real purpose this time @Moshe... so it won't be going away this time
Sokay.
Ok.
lemme clear cache and such and retry
23:30
K. I renamed te script somewhere along the lines so it could be choking on the old version. I also need to remove some .tostring calls. TimStone says they're redundant.
I need to watch more Jo(h?)n Resig.
He seems to know what he's talking about.
yeah, it appears to be broken everywhere
):
that would not be my fault
what's broken everywhere?
@Moshe do you know who wrote jQuery? (or sizeable portions thereof at least?)
OH NO, YOU MENTIONED "broken" AND YOU WOKE UP THE @Zypher!
@Rebecca what line is the error.
assuming everywhere means skeptics, atheism, meta, physics, math
lol pulling up from a long day of network layer thought
does anybody else hate looking at /. lately?
@drachenstern slash what?
23:36
@Zypher say it out loud
I wish I could find a youtube of the clip from Spaceballs from The Temple of Doom "Oh no, I think we woke it up!" -- I have wanted to post that in here like 10 different times, LOL
@drachenstern If by lately you mean "for the last 5 years", then yes
I quit Slashdot before quitting Slashdot was cool.

@MichaelMrozek they upgraded their site sometime between last august and last week, I honestly forget when, and it broke every bit of formatting they ever had.
and made the site completely unusable for me
it used to be my goto site for boredom because I could passively skim things and not worry about missing details
It seems the same as it was last time I tried it
23:37
@mmyers I lurked /. till long after E17 stories were posted
Actually, I was never really on it. I read it for a while and once even tried to post a comment, but it apparently didn't go through.
i actually had a 5 digit ID at one point but abandoned the site for a year or two and couldn't remember the login info ... or the email i signed up with
someone ack that their screen looks anything remotely like mine if they scroll down?
or is it something about my useraccount? my slashboxes have been horked for the past two upgrade cycles
23:40
@Zypher LOL:
> And how exactly do you pull off being exact and punctual while being sloppy and unable to figure out what time it is from being drunk? Practice... lots and lots of practices. Speaking of which it's time for me to do some practicing.
> Mom coming to accidentally shot husband accidentally shot
...is that English?
haha
ohh you southerners
LOL
I'm a Yankee transplant. Shhhh don't tell my neighbors, I think I have them fooled ;-)
mom coming to husband accidentally shot
the husband was also accidentally shot
it parses logically
23:43
@Rebecca I'm going to try to get online on my
Mb and look into it.
@the you from Connecticut?
Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.
@drachenstern I still don't understand what was happening here :-)
@TheRenamedException seriously? hmmm ...
The mother was shot, by accident.
The father was shot, by accident.
@the ... it wasn't an accident
If you understand those two, then add in that the mother was -> coming to -> the father when she got shot, accidentally.
OH I GET IT NOW
23:46
A mom coming to her accidentally-shot husband, was herself accidentally shot. :P
that kid is the f'in devil
@TimStone much better
I think any further telling me it's not understood is just egging me on
also, did anyone see my screenshot?
can anyone repro?
c'mon people. be smarter than @drachenstern.

@RebeccaChernoff hey I lived in AL for at least 4 years of my life and have a degree from there :p
Of course I promptly left again.
@drachenstern Well, that explains a lot...
@GeorgeMarian ha! ):
@RebeccaChernoff I've been made fun of for being from New England, for not living in New England anymore, and for not speaking like a real American. But having my intelligence compared to an Alabamian is the last straw. Hear me Rebecca? The final straw!
"Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo." is a grammatically valid sentence in the American English language, used as an example of how homonyms and homophones can be used to create complicated linguistic constructs. It has been discussed in literature since 1972 when the sentence was used by William J. Rapaport, an associate professor at the University at Buffalo. It was posted to Linguist List by Rapaport in 1992. It was also featured in Steven Pinker's 1994 book The Language Instinct. Sentence construction The sentence is unpunctuated and uses three diff...
Hahahah
HEY!
@drachenstern All in good fun, at least for me. ;)
Not that I'm Alabamian, but I can relate to them.
@KlausByskovHoffmann The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is nicer. </troll>
23:49
@GeorgeMarian ;)
@mmyers Hush. We haven't gotten to OK. yet
(did I get OK right?)
It has been determined with great accuracy that I'm my own sockpuppet. I was skeptical at first, but this is compelling evidence:
2
I'm joking, currently my biggest customer is from Alabama :-)
It would seem that Buffalo sentence is missing some commas
@badp I'm afraid we have to dock you two moderator points for not detecting this obvious puppet sooner.
23:51
@drachenstern I don't think so...
@mmyers wait we have moderator points? egads I need to go troll up some more points!
No, it isn't.
@drachenstern Shh! Don't spoil it!
23:52
@Rebecca I think I found the bug. Now I have to get my computer online and try to fix it.
Btw, Im pulling a Java. the next script is version 5
2
I have 114, when I reach 300 I was told I'd unlock dev, with dev++ at 1,000.
@badp speaking of which it is for some reason disheartening to me that one of my fellow mods doesn't show up on that list ....
@drachenstern /blame @RebeccaChernoff
not my fault
hm?
@badp no, I don't think so
23:55
@RebeccaChernoff Did you write a /deny command? :p
ohhhh good idea
q:
They could be doing other stuff but still active.
@RebeccaChernoff and I know for a fact that they are
It's why I don't make a point of bringing it up often, I just wish said mod was VERBAL ... that's just me. I think ya'll understand that I'm kinda'a verbal guy
uhhhh we know
(;
23:58
:p
@drachenstern No, I'd never have guessed anyone here was verbal.
@mmyers it's on account of how loud this room is when I sit at my desk
@mmyers Good thing I didn't get a Talkative badge.
@Rebecca do you mind editing the script for me? In the first line of the toggle method, just delete the toString() please. That should fix it.
