I've seen thousands of questions posted as answers (use a simple API query to find them, across multiple sites), and have no desire to see them posted as questions. For one thing, most of them don't make sense without the context of other posts under which they are placed.

I'd say it's not worth it. If they don't get the difference, make them go through posting an actual question. Don't do it for them. They won't learn from the mistake they've made.

@Magisch Also, I think it is human nature in a way. It is easier to give someone an answer when the answer is either a researchable fact (example: what year did this event took place) or an "informed suggestion". It become more complex when you need a lot of work to provide a solution to a problem in an environment you don't have with often missing info and details.

Yesterday I got 15 upvotes telling someone that a thinly veiled "We're probably gonna hire you" email was in fact that.

And when you realize than then anyone can "trash" your work without even needing to say why, I think it is easy to see why some sites flourish a lot easier than others

@Magisch my best answer on SharePoint stays at 20 votes, an to translate that to SO "metrics" that probably would equate an answer with about 150 votes (note: this is not quality related, I only say this in terms of vote density).

On Sci-fi&Fantasy, I once got in the Hot Questions list and my answer got 51 votes....

The story is "The Homework Horror" by Greg Cox. It was originally printed in Amazing Stories Vol. 62 #1, but was reprinted in Bruce Coville's Book of Nightmares II: More Tales to Make You Scream, which is probably where you read it. And the evil number in the book is 5, not 3. Five stayed ...

I'm not sure how it is on other sites, but tags are very important here for determining dupes. "How do I mine for fish" in game A and "How do I mine for fish" in game B are different questions because they are for different games, and the tags will indicate that. But I don't see any tags in the annotation interface. Is that something you are taking care of in the potential duplicate algorithm? — GodEmperorDune 8 hours ago

Looks like a pretty big omission, then... Another piece of metadata I'd consider is views. The duplicates we want to prevent from posting are those where there is already a Q&A pair that has a good, often-read answer. (No need to worry about missing obscure posts that may be similar but aren't answered well.)

About what I expected.

Math 2 increased from 780 2 years ago (when I did it right after I bought my calculator and didn't know how to use it), Physics increased from 670 a year ago after taking the second semester of Physics C.
