No, you can only change username every 30 days.
There is a 15-minute grace period though.
So if you made a typo, you can fix it.
@ShadowWizard Riddle: what is special about this user?
@M.A.R. but that was per site IIRC
@rene Nope, per network AFAIK
@M.A.R. at least one report to contradict that: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/54986/…

@rene From 2010
Well, IIRC I wanted to change username in another site than the site I usually change my username in, and it didn't work.
@M.A.R. every post from 2010 is pure gold
The profiles are now associated with each other, so that may have changed.
@M.A.R. OK, so my assumption wasn't that bad
Even the Network profile is in sync with others now
@rene Which is why I upgoated it

11:46
@ShadowWizard those are the commands to manually remove a message, yeah, but f will also automatically remove it, if that's possible
@Art if you mean it's deleted here, it's because the source post was deleted while the chat message can still be deleted.
yeah, that
But it won't be deleted in Charcoal.

yeah

Charcoal keeps a record. In Charcoal HQ posts will only be deleted manually (by sd remove or somesuch or by sd f, but not when the post is deleted)

@ArtOfCode nope, I don't think so. @hichris123 will "f" cause the chat message from Smokey to be deleted, same as "del"?

This would also kind of fulfill the evergreen request about requiring comments. If you want someone to know their post was downvoted, you'll have to leave a comment.
user315433
Revenge downvotes will be a lot less satisfying, too.
@ArtOfCode cheers!
11:59
@zaq /me doesn't get as much satisfaction out of revenge down voting as advertised
@zaq with low rep users it does. User with 12 reputation gets two downvotes, and lose the most basic privilege.
If ye really want to see how the "focus on content and not users" will work, and avoid those serial downvotes issues, I still ask Stack to do the big step and hide any reference to the post owner and the post owner rep score.
Make only the score on the post public.
user315433
12:15
@ShadowWizard So they can't post images anymore because their jQuery answer was wrong... Doesn't make much sense to me. If a user has posted something that didn't merit deletion, I'm okay with them having the most basic privileges from that point onward.
@zaq so they can't post images if the site users think they contribute low level contents. Makes sense to me.
user315433
The restriction on images is meant against spammers and trolls, explicit abuse of the site. Not bad answers or lazy questions.
grabs popcorn
user315433
The situation where someone got a privilege they should not have is unlikely to be fixed with downvotes. If it's a spammer who got a misguided upvote, it's fixed by spam flags. If it's a voting ring, the solution is a moderator flag.
@Bart want some?
12:30
@zaq it's more than just that. It also let them have links in their profile (i.e. makes the links clickable), which is kind of bonus. If they post bad contents, they don't deserve a bonus.

A friend of mine is studying to become a nurse and is since deadly afraid of paracetamol because apparently lots of people accidentally kill themselfes with it
12:33
@Magisch That's overrated. People can die because of eating too much bananas.
@Magisch they do, it's stupidly easy to overdose on it and it doesn't play nice with anything else.
I should ask @M.A.R.
And accidentally killing yourself with para is a very slow and agonizing death
The only difference here is that drugs are easier to eat a lot.
IB is way safer
user202362
12:33
people can die from drinking too much water too fast
@Magisch sounds like life :p
You can irreparably wreck your liver with 1,5 times the recommended daily max dose
@Magisch and you kill yourself at about 1.7-1.8. Yeah.
while to do the same with ibu I'm not sure you could swallow enough of that before puking
doesn't help that dying from it isn't instant
@Magisch easiest way with IB is add alcohol
12:34
You'll wake up in hospital and have 2-3 days to regret your decision as you invariably wither away and die of cascading multiple organ failure.
Being a paramedic isn't about knowing how to save lives, it's about knowing what the ways to abuse things to kill people is, clearly

Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a mushroom and psychoactive basidiomycete fungus, one of many in the genus Amanita. Native throughout the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, Amanita muscaria has been unintentionally introduced to many countries in the Southern Hemisphere, generally as a symbiont with pine and birch plantations, and is now a true cosmopolitan species. It associates with various deciduous and coniferous trees. This iconic toadstool is a large white-gilled, white-spotted, usually red mushroom, and is one of the most recognisable...
12:38
@Magisch You like dark stories don't you
Not particularly
@M.A.R. nope, that was something weirder than the standard toxic mushroom. I seem to remember that it worked because the first time you eat it, the body immune system would develop specific reaction, and the reaction would then basically kill you if you happen to eat the mushroom a second time.
Sure, that's not unlikely at all.
It is like when a child has a blood class that is incompatible with the mother ... the first child usually has no problem.
the second one is in grave danger.
No, that's irrelevant.
I'm thinking of the possible reaction mechanisms.
user315433
12:43
@ShadowWizard This is really arbitrary. If they post bad contents, the correct privilege to take away is posting, not having links in profile. Which happens via a process that does not rely on rep cutoffs.
It could be an auto-catalytic reaction after the immune system has changed the original molecules into reactive radicals.
But that's rare.
I better not make speculations when I don't know anything about it.
I wonder why healthcare professionals aren't paid better
> When you're pregnant, blood from your baby can cross into your bloodstream, especially during delivery. If you're Rh-negative and your baby is Rh-positive, your body will react to the baby's blood as a foreign substance.

Your body will create antibodies (proteins) against the baby's Rh-positive blood. These antibodies usually don't cause problems during a first pregnancy. This is because the baby often is born before many of the antibodies develop.

However, the antibodies stay in your body once they have formed. Thus, Rh incompatibility is more likely to cause problems in second or late
I know I know
12:44
Near minimum wage isn't enough to put up with all this heartbreaking crap
But that can't be related to the mushroom toxicity thing.
@M.A.R. Told you, I don't remember the name of the mushroom.
Rhesus and blood globules are a totally different story.
Laetiporus sulphureus is a species of bracket fungus (fungus that grows on trees) found in Europe and North America. Its common names are crab-of-the-woods, sulphur polypore, sulphur shelf, and chicken-of-the-woods. Its fruit bodies grow as striking golden-yellow shelf-like structures on tree trunks and branches. Old fruitbodies fade to pale beige or pale grey. The undersurface of the fruit body is made up of tubelike pores rather than gills. Laetiporus sulphureus is a saprophyte and occasionally a weak parasite, causing brown cubical rot in the heartwood of trees on which it grows. Unlike many...
But I do remember that the explanation was related to antibodies
12:46
The body might become allergic to it after eating it for the first time.
> The mushroom produces the Laetiporus sulphureus lectin (LSL) which has haemolytic and haemagglutination activities. Haemolytic lectins are sugar-binding proteins that lyse and agglutinate cells. The haemagglutination and haemolytic activity are started by binding carbohydrates.
That doesn't explain why nothing happens the first time.
What that explains is that you should go bye bye as soon as you consume it.
Or prolly there's something in the agglutination process that I missed
> ... After this I gave up eating the thing. I have since been told that it’s possible to develop an allergy to L. sulphureus over time. It’s also possible that something in the mushroom builds up in my body, so when I eat it for a second time (soon after the first) I get poisoned.
Same happens with other types of foods though.
Might be a good bio.SE question.
12:49
e.g. my sister became allergic to several kinds of nuts after years of eating them without any problem.
@ShadowWizard The opposite also works
I used to be allergic to citrus fruit
@Magisch yeah, but very few people would dare to try eating something they know they're allergic to...
After ignoring that and eating lots of citrus for years, it eventually just went away.
@Magisch you're.... ... weird. ;)
Depends on the allergy, I just got non-hurting red hives across my arms and legs from it
12:51
In my sister's case it's severe, and can result in death if she won't take a special pill.
wouldn't try that with meat though
If I eat meat I get to feel like absolute crap for a week afterward
@Magisch true, I used to be allergic to iodine. No longer am.
@zaq true. Still, linking privileges with reputation makes sense. And making downvotes reduce reputation also makes sense. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this...
Chicken is somehow less bad then red meats, but still bad
@ShadowWizard this one seems to accumulate in the body until it becomes fatal. This other is know to be able to cause an autoimmune reaction but is more "luck based".
12:56
@Derpy oh. So many different types of mushrooms... and poisons....
The one I remember begin described in that paper was about a mushroom that almost always caused an autoimmune reaction, but "when eaten a second time" - like I said, I seem to remember that it worked because the first time the body would just produce antibodies but the "reaction time" was too slow to actually be dangerous (the mushroom toxin wouldn't live that long)...
second time - you are done for, your body already had the antibodies and the resulting immune reaction was mostly fatal.
not exactly a mushroom you want to see.
@Bart so you're at sick leave now at home, at least?
@ShadowWizard nope. in the office.

BCP 47 similarly has the subtag art, which together with the subtag x can be used to create a suitable private use tag for any constructed language that has not been assigned an official language tag (e.g., art-x-solresol could be used for Solresol, or art-x-Latino-sine-flexione for Latino sine flexione).
