That's what I do, except I throw in Close review in between (which uses up downvotes as well.)

why is this on the featured area on meta.se?

Nothing of note is happening here right now; the sidebar shows an upcoming event.

@Meta I did for a while, but then I got bored of going through close questions and identifying if they're really deletion-worthy. Now I just go through questions which were identified to be closed but never got the votes & are 30-day roomba eligible.

user315433
I meant the actual close review, script-enhanced by adding a downvote button.

12:07 AM
@Sunshine @JasonC sorry to bother, could you pin chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/4864725#4864725?
Tanks in advantage.

@Meta Oh, I was talking about the 9-day roomba part.

But I think it's true it's a loss cause if only myself doing the feeding. With only 1 downvote, I can only do it on questions with score of 1, and it's already reaching year 2013.

There are some interesting edge cases. This question is closed, has no answer, and scores 2. But with 48K views it appears to still be helpful, thanks to answer-edited-in-question.

@S.L.Barth done. Amazing how many people abuse backticks... so much crap. Fighting this is impossible.
I considered rejecting those as "vandalism" at some point, but since it doesn't have any real impact it's also pointless.

@ShadowWizard Thanks. It's scary that it was almost approved.
Hopefully, with the rejection, it will send the right message to the editor. Too many editors think they're doing a good job, thanks to our bloody robo-reviewers.

@S.L.Barth yeah... 90% of those abusing backticks are from India. @Dro maybe you can do something? e.g. post advertisements in your local media "STOP ABUSING BACKTICKS". :D
For some odd reason, they think it's just a way to highlight words, instead of italics.

Is there a special circle in hell reserved for people that use == to compare Strings in Java?

@JamesENL maybe if you compare different types... in such case it's your fault. ;)

String1 == String 2 returns true in unit tests, returns false on the Tomcat Server

@JamesENL maybe case sensitive issue

All my rage
Maybe
I think it's that it's actually the same object in unit tests, so it returns true, but when deployed, it's 2 different instances of a String object, which == will compare as false.

@JamesENL yeah, you should use .equals() anyway

Q: How do I compare strings in Java?

Nathan HI've been using the == operator in my program to compare all my strings so far. However, I ran into a bug, changed one of them into .equals() instead, and it fixed the bug. Is == bad? When should it and should it not be used? What's the difference?

I know I should, the person who wrote this before me obviously missed that memo

@Meta sorry for the big delay - was away for my tenth wedding anniversary, so was mostly offline for 3 days. Regarding the quality project, I'm not sure we'll ever be done, exactly. We were really pleased with how much triage system and new queues helped the front page. That said, there's still a lot of wood to chop. In particular, I'm hopeful we can get some work done on the "ask question" page to help new users avoid a lot of the most common problems.

2:23 PM
@Jaydles you mean adding "templates" as described here?
BTW congrats for the wedding anniversary! :)
Also, if that question is what you have in mind regarding "get some work done on the "ask question" page" then better break @TimPost silence there and post a comment, @Jay :)

A: Aren't new users throttled asking questions anymore?

Shog9Sorry about that. I'd hoped the other rate-limits we'd built in over the past couple of years would pick up the slack here, but... That didn't quite happen. Here's a handy graph of users who hit the new-user asking limit per week, by week: And here's a corresponding graph of users who hit th...

> The new-user ask limit is now one question every 40 minutes, network-wide. That means only 1 question every 40 minutes on Stack Overflow, but also means you'd need to wait 40 minutes after asking a question on, say, Woodworking to ask a related question on Crafting or Home Improvement. And yes, gnat, it also means you'd need to wait 40 minutes after asking a question on Stack Overflow before asking a question on Programmers.
> Rolling rate-limits kick in faster. Like, immediately. If your first question is downvoted and you try to ask another one 40 minutes later, you'll be forced to wait at least a day. That's potentially very harsh... But probably also better than penalizing everyone for the behavior of a few. We'd always intended rolling rate-limits to supplant the new-user rate-limits, and this will hopefully allow them to do so.
Do we still have a lot of cross-site spammers? Or are they mostly using new accounts?

@bjb568 Editing is specifically for fixing formatting issues. Not only does it make it easier to read the question, it provides opportunities for new users to understand how they should have formatted the question. — Trisped 6 hours ago
@bjb568 Please provide a link detailing that. The only instructions I can find are on the editing page which mentions that only substantial edits should be included, but does not define it. Since the formatting changes above are instantly recognizable and make the post easier to read, I consider them to be substantial. — Trisped 3 hours ago
@bjb568 The editing page which is in your first link only indicates that the post should be significantly better (which the listed change is), and I did not see anything problems that were not fixed (not that problems I observer were observed by the editor). The second link backs that trivial changes are not minor. The third post is not relevant since it is not current guidance, but that also does not say that formatting changes are minor. I am specifically asking why this case is not substantial. — Trisped 12 mins ago
@Trisped I edited the post to demonstrate that there are other correctable things. The change did not make it better, it made it significantly and objectively worse by introducing errors and without correcting actual problems. Furthermore, the edit failed to address other problems in the post which obviously has substantial problems given its current score. Suggested edits should not, by community consensus and official guidelines, polish turds. This question is a turd. Suggested edits should address all significant problems with a post. The edit did not. You misinterpreted Shog's post. — bjb568 1 min ago
gah.
It's like people don't understand editing these days.
> Oh yeah, inserting random formatting into posts should be encouraged!
How the hell can you construe Shog's post, which is cracking down on minor edits and their approvers, as something that says "trivial changes are not minor", a pure logical contradiction?
People these days… We need to give'm a skewling.

@hichris123 juriya activity went down a lot after the cross-site limit was introduced.

11:11 PM
@Meta Maybe this'll even further lessen cross-site spamming. Although from a cursory glance of metasmoke it appears most spammers are just creating new accounts.

user315433
Back when cross-site limits were announced, it seemed they overwrote something site-specific, which I couldn't quite understand. Apparently, this is now what the issue with SO is... though I still couldn't understand exactly what happened.
