@PopularDemand i've removed 4 pages of those

@MichaelMrozek that script returned just [] and didn't work ><

I'm disappointed by Google
I searched for "uppercase six" and found nothing

Kev
last week there was 8 pages of these: stackoverflow.com/search?q=thx+isaccepted:0
down to 3

@Fosco You actually have to do something like $('input#submit-button').each(function() {this.type = 'image'; this.src = 'http://i.imgur.com/X2idZ.gif';});. I'm not sure why; some jQuery propery I don't understand

pokes head in @Zypher - CHECK YOUR INBOX! leaves

Why are proposed edits shown to the left of the original post and with the original author's name below them?

haha 20 seconds earlier you woulda timed it perfectly

@mmyers It's been reported
1
Q: Proposed Edits - side by side view incorrect

BarryThe side by side view for the proposed edits is incorrect / misleading. This implies that the proposed edit by adam.pugsley is on the right hand side when in actual fact it is on the left hand side. This is the original question And this is the question after the proposed edit.

@Zypher Did you just leave?

Ok. Next question: I just approved an edit that only fixed part of the post. I realized -- too late -- that clicking Approve means the post disappears from the list. I don't remember what the question title was. How can I find it again?

@mmyers browser cache? Unless cache is flushed on each load.
back button?

8:22 PM
I never visited the question

@mmyers Good luck to you sir then.

@mmyers Good question...do you remember what it was about?

Ah ha

@MichaelMrozek MY HERO

8:25 PM
@mmyers Now you owe him your first born. Or a cookie.

Ooh. I'm all out of both.
Or, more accurately, they're not in stock yet.

Is this a low quality question?

Q: Trying to get an app to show network error alert codes?

BaccaladOk so I am trying to get this app to show network error alert codes. I have added the SystemConfiguration.framework framework and Apple's "Reachability" sample code. Here is the viewcontroller.h file: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @class Reachability; @interface Test_Internet_ConnectionViewCo...

Is the suggested edits tab only for mods? That makes me sad
I thought it was going to be visible for editors

@MichaelMrozek I think it's a product of it being a work-in-progress.
Or at least I hope so, otherwise it seems pretty useless since you'd have to stumble across the post to approve it in the first place, and at that point could have just edited it yourself.

The OP has a low selection rate and starts with salutations.

8:28 PM
Hmph. I still can't find that question.

@Moshe If those are your only criteria you're going to be flagging like 20% of the questions on SO

@MichaelMrozek Fair point.

@mmyers It's probably SO punishing you for ignoring my flag
pets SO
2

@MichaelMrozek I'm not ignoring your flag. Will is busy doing that.

points at the weirdo who's petting a website
@Zypher - Did you get the ee-mayel from me?

8:30 PM
i did i did

Found it! I have made the world a tiny bit better today.

@mmyers You know what's funny?
I almost linked you to that post a few minutes ago.
But since you said "question" I figured that the edit was on a question, not an answer, heh.

I didn't remember. There's not much distinction on the page.

@MichaelMrozek @TimStone is correct; this is a side effect of work-in-progress. The precise rules "who can do what about suggested edits" are still being worked out

@balpha Ok, thanks

8:34 PM
@mmyers Yeah :) I just went to the active questions tab and looked for edits by people with less than edit rep, heheh.

@TimStone Most of those are probably owner edits though

@MichaelMrozek They are, I just happened to get lucky.

@Zypher Good good. I apologize again for the delay.

It'd be nice to have some sort of list of your approved edits somewhere, although since you might be giving people rep for approving their edits, I guess it's not public-facing information like the rest of your activity. Ah well, we'll see how it plays out.

@Moshe sorry, I have been in a meeting, just stopped to take a few minute break and then need to get back to it

8:44 PM
Can any of you guys think of a Meta question in need of 500 bounty love?
I'm open to suggestions.
Some great tool e.g., like YiJiang's
Or some important feature request

Q: /me command for chat

JoshI love the "action" command /me found elsewhere, and think it would be fun to have in the chat. A message like: /me loves the new chat system Would show up as: Josh loves the new chat system Rather than: Josh: loves the new chat system I'm trying to think how it would work with ...

@Josh heh! Well, that is a piece of work

wait no

Q: Individual Status field for chat

JoshI absolutely love chat and want to extend a huge thanks and token of appreciation, respect and awe-of-coding skill to Balpha, Marc Gravell, and the rest of the team who built it (sorry I don't know the names of everyone who was involved!!) I look forward to seeing chat launch on StackOverflow, a...

Much better
ok that reminds me...

Is this the Pekka lottery?

/status in a meeting

8:47 PM
@mmyers no, I'm really looking for suggestions for useful stuff
@Josh that's a nice one but I would prefer a SO related one
Chat is so nice already
@Josh have a nice meeting! Later then....
But it's not in your profile :)

@Josh kk
Cinnamon coffee only smells like cinnamon.
Tastes ok.
My rating: 2/5 cups </bad joke>
@Jin - You around?
Photoshop question:
How does one make a photo into a black and white outline drawing or cartoon?
Hi @MichaelPetrotta
About that spelling thing before. I will try to be more careful about that.

9:09 PM
@Moshe: just venting, don't worry about it.
As nice as chat is in iOS, there's something wrong with me for participating from here.

@MichaelPetrotta Heh, how so? :P

Takes me too long to type, delays my lunchtime fork operations.

Ah, this is true. Food always takes top priority, even as great as chat is.

@MichaelPetrotta I use iOS chat all the time.
A chat client would be nice though.

@Moshe: I'm not much of a thumb typist.

9:16 PM
Ah well. To each their own.

Hmm, the more I read Jon Skeet's book, the more depressed I get that I primarily program in Java these days. Ah well, at least I have Play!

I apologize to my followers for my boring display. It's no fireworks, but it brought me a smile when it worked at the first try :P

Q: Does anyone know a working OCR (PHP)?

CelinIve been looking for a working OCR class (must be PHP) for almost 3 days. Anyone knows a working OCR? please guide me if you have a OCR sample.

I've asked this question before.
Pikachu, come back. Votaring ring - Go!

Not a particularly imaginative one

nevertheless.

Anyway flagged the post as spam (even though it is closed) just to give the mods a heads up

@Josh Probably - why would they want to bother with mine or yours? Also wasn't it a "page" rather than his profile?

@ChrisF it was, that was just the headline of the article :-)
But yes, you're correct of course, point taken :-)

is annoyed by frameworks whose documentation lies

I can relate @Tim

So much anger! shakes fists I'd be willing to write better documentation for them, if I could figure out how the hell to get it to work in the first place. :/

10:08 PM
lol

One more answer up-vote on SF and I'll have 1111 rep. However, that ain't gonna happen any time soon.

It does seem a little "off".

A: Using "enterprise" switches in home network?

ChrisFI'd be concerned about the power consumption, noise, electromagnetic interference (EMI) and cooling requirements. While they're robust and would (probably) provide you with more connections that you'll ever need, they're designed to sit in server rooms or cabinets. This means that they'll (poten...

Yay!

Now NOBODY UP OR DOWN VOTE @ChrisF ON SERVERFAULT! :-)

Teenage relationship problems...

ROFLMAO, I think I need to hang out in ServerFault chat more, they are apparently clowns over there:

@MarkElliot Hey there, how goes?

good
'cept for this massive storm covering DC
kind of ruined plans for a date tonight

:-(

hopefully she'll reschedule

I have faith

10:54 PM
storm cancelled a javascript meetup here :/

Stormy nights are perfect for dates!

@DanGrossman that's significantly less tragic

$('#dc').removeClass('storm');

@Pollyanna except getting into DC on a metro right now is probably impossible

10:56 PM
Whine, whine, whine. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

@Pollyanna guess i shouldn't have postponed it

but the guy probably did more work to write the question
than to run the test

Ok, good point

@MarkElliot The ones that literally provide source code are my favorite. "What will happen if I run this exact code?"

@MichaelMrozek ideone.com: let's find out!
(side note: ideone = awesome)

I just answered this one recently:

Q: Scanf syntax - %6d and %-6d and %0d

NadavWhat are the differences between using scanf with the following format specifiers, when the input being scanned is 123456 versus when it's 123: %6d %-6d %0d What are the differences in the output?

it's snowing so hard here

I had no idea what the answer was. So I tried it

@Jin where's "here"?

@ChrisF Er. Me?

A: Scanf syntax - %6d and %-6d and %0d

Michael MrozekI ended up just trying it with GCC 4.3.4, and got the following: %6d: Works fine; only reads 6 characters (so if you try to read 123456789 it will only read 123456) %-6d: Emits the warning: warning: unknown conversion type character '-' in format Doesn't read anything, and the int being writ...

@MichaelMrozek Sorry yes

yeah a left alignment character is stupid in scanf

@MarkElliot Fun; you can reply to posts from the future (Mark: I just edited this to reply to your post, even though I posted before you)

@MichaelMrozek eh?

11:17 PM
@MichaelMrozek always has time issues

Which actually illustrates a minor bug bear of mine. People who post a question when the answer clearly "just run the * code and see what it does"

oh nice
my quantum theory friends say time can be negative
so it fits =)

Jan 21 at 19:24, by Michael Mrozek
@Josh Stop hacking time please:

@MichaelMrozek I see that all the time now; it's apparently not just Josh

can you reply to your own post?

11:19 PM
@MarkElliot Apparently

is saved

in chat

:476298 yup.

@MichaelMrozek How are you managing that. I don't get the arrow on my own posts

WTF, Why is Chrome FAILING?

11:20 PM
@ChrisF I just typed the :ID manually

Uh oh, I sense another userscript heretic...

@MichaelMrozek Ah - silly me

I was trying to use the userscript
@Josh but it was failing

The userscript edits your posts, on the assumption that you probably don't want to reply to them

Bah.

Jin
11:20 PM
@MarkElliot Washington DC

You can press R to reply to yourself.

@TimStone Oh, witchcraft. I use right arrow

I just figured it was more likely you wanted to edit, so the arrow key does that on your own posts.

@TimStone I keep reloading the page, this frustrates me

@Josh Hmm?

11:22 PM
@TimStone Sometimes, Control-up, Control-R reloads the page instead of replying

@Josh It's just R, no Control key involved. :)

@TimStone hmmm

you only need control on the initial control+up, after that just use the arrow keys as normal, or the command character.

@TimStone ok, I see what's happening. the highligh is unreliable

:o

11:24 PM
@RebeccaChernoff I thought I needed to hold it down, because sometimes it doesn't appear even when it is there
@Josh of course now I can't reproduce this

status-norepro
If you can replicate it, let me know though and I'll look into it.
I haven't seen that though, I don't think.

Suddenly I can't. @josh me again please @Tim?

@Josh Like this?
Or like this, @Josh?

hm
Ok, I can't repro either

I'm not sure we're all comfortable having the sock around in light of what you quoted from the SF chat earlier.

Google needs to stop showing the MySQL 5.5 manual by default for "mysql [common manual entry name]" searches... nobody's on 5.5 yet

I want to shoot Google every time it tries to show me Java 1.4.2 docs.

@TimStone ROFLMAO, that wasn't me that said it though!

I'm just sayin', hahah.

Besides in answer to his question about his very existence, I promised that he was washed!
And @RebeccaChernoff can confirm he has been ironed, also

@Josh hrumpf.

11:37 PM
@Tim can I get you to post a message in the Sandbox please?
Or anyone? :-)

Would requesting a tag change on meta be a bug, a feature request, discussion or support?

Are you sure you need it?

@DanGrossman [support], I would think

If so, support. Otherwise, discussion

thanks
I'm tired of seeing questions tagged both php and php5 when that's been the current version of PHP for 7 years, they should be synonyms

@DanGrossman Oh. Good luck with that one :)

Q: Can someone make php5 a synonym of the php tag?

Dan GrossmanThese were desynonymized due to this question: "Desynonymize" php and php5 I think that was the wrong thing to do. Will anyone be kind enough to post a message in the sandbox for me please?
@TimStone I can no longer reproduce the bug, I am going to assume it was a Chrome bug not a Userscript bug
Has everyone voted in the ServerFault elections????

I have !

@Josh Sorry, went to eat food.

Food is tasty. Except when it's not, like the lunch I ate, LOL

@Josh Yeah, I really hope that my candidates win. Although I'd be OK with one or two of the others, I guess.
Uh oh, what'd you have?
/blames Chrome

50$ a hint as to who is winning

11:56 PM
@Josh I don't have a SF account yet, so I just ignored that word.

@Zypher Sure, what's your PayPal address? :-)

haha
hmm
you know i have NO idea what email i signed up for that with

Or, I could send you a stuffed unicorn...

i don't think i've used paypal in like 4 or 5 years
that would work too
i'll give you the hint as soon as it arrives :)

11:58 PM
i'm very happy w3schools lied to me today

I think Warner is winning. I voted for Warner so he must be winning!

Hmmm. Must get 50 SF rep in 7 days to participate.
Sounds difficult.
