Makes sense. This is where all the money is, anyway.

hey, without money you can't build fancy toys such as self driving cars or spaceships!

money = labour time; // in economics

Or let's put it this way, IMHO what's the most important thing to people, or indeed for any living creatures, is time

Folks on SO now talk about how great it was in the old days, and I check their profiles and find they've only been around for two years, by which time folks had been complaining about how crappy SO had gotten lately for at least 4 years.

@404 I bet you don't go on overnight/multiday hikes much ... you don't even have to be on mars for money to become irrelevant. Just camp out in the totally wildness for long enough, and there will be wildlife trying to steal your food but leaving your wallet intact.

@404 2 years, 8 months. phew, Shog isn't talking about me.

user202362
you can't even lodge a police complaint when that happens ...

1 year, 9 months and I think SO is getting better.

You can't eat money. But money is just crystallized labor, and you can certainly eat that if you boil it long enough and put plenty of ketchup on it.

12:42 AM
you can eat money, it's just paper and/or plastic
tastes better than a ball of labor

have you tried rolling labor in bread crumbs and deep-frying it?

Have you?

I don't know what it is with you SE employees and making food

In these dark times, it is wise to look back on the writings of the masters when choosing a course in life. Through your application, I felt the resonance of your soul with that of the great philosopher Marx. If I judge your character correctly then, you would be sorely disappointed to find that we have accepted your application; therefore, I hope to delight you by reporting that your desire to become a member was not misplaced.

@Shog9 you should totally sharing experiences with wildlife here - I have seen & heard multiple instance of kookaburras waiting for the BBQed meat to be at the right temperature, then swooping down and stealing steak/sausage right before people putting them into their mouths ... because you totally need to time it and make people to wait for 20 -30 minutes, seeing and smelling the tender meat on the stove and have the crave before robbing them the food.

@404 That's pretty much all honor societies. "It's honorable! But we only deny people who've committed a crime..."

@Telkitty so... I should barbecue... That I might eat kookaburras?

I am glad to inform you that you have been rejected from our super prestigious honor society because you have neither the necessary felineness nor the awesome sunglasses to warrant the membership of your sad, shriveled mind. Please keep this rejection in mind as you continue in life and be sure to always be aware of your lack of kewl sunglasses.

the files that cause it to have slower loading times are imgur images and google analytics

@Quill And that's the problem.

Know your target audience. Which is certainly not the kind of people that will respond to this poll. The leads are kinda obvious, anybody with a newish account. Biggest problem you have to solve is that you got a lot of junk data right now, a user that created his 10th account is not your target. Fix that first, ditch OpenID. Best time to learn something about the new user is at account creation time, he'll take the time to answer a few questions. — Hans Passant 13 hours ago

@Quill I would actually love to see an example of a site like SO that makes non-trivial use of Angular and is fast.
No joke.
I get nearly instant load times for most pages on SO

because SO has amazing server tech/setup
and jQuery is usually bundled with Angular installs
making it twice as bloated

unless you're self-serving jQuery, it shouldn't make an appreciable difference
(SO is not self-serving jQuery)

it's a large file, it'll bloat/slow the render times

@Quill jQuery??

10:41 PM
most of the slowing of render times is due to images though
@Shog9 yeah....

are we talking about a different jQuery here?

@Shog9 That's because caching.

that page does not run on angular

Good.

it also loads a font that is something like 5x the size of jQuery
a damn font

Whatever. Go to devdoodle.net
https://, by the way.
4 reqs.

yeah, the font kinda ruins the irony of the page
@bjb while you rub in the SSL compatibility and 1s faster loading times
Shog can just pull out some stats....

Hey, DevDoodle's growing…

On our next installment of horrible job titles on Careers:

Should be [BOLD AND UPPERCASE DEVS ONLY]

Their job description has a lot of bold... not sure if they want a bold person or someone who uses bold a lot.
@Shog9 You missed the one where it ended with APPLY. Because you MUST apply to this job.

On my resume, under key skills, I have "keepin it real"

How do you determine if this developer is one of the "best"?
> *Apply if you think you are a really good developer.
