I'm wondering about a SO account and whether it has been hacked
Please don't downvote him on account of my linking it here, but this looks really weird. Compare this crappy question (one in a long, long line of extremely low quality questions)

Q: how can i make the horizontal pdf file

magnahi guys how can i make a harizontal pdf file by using php.i created for the register form(name ,email, street,city country) can any one say some ideas. thanks in adv

with this well-put answer from the same user:

A: Facebook standard status update popup?

magnaYou have to mention the onclick function else what suits your need. oauth2 in facebook involves two steps, call authorize to get code, then call access_token to get token. One way to deal with the pop login: open login url in new window just like you did,when the facebook redirects back to your ...

Is this a case of a hacked account? I'm stumped
Or is it two people sharing the same account? No way to be sure, you can try asking a question on MSO
Dunno, some of his previous stuff has been edited into shape. His first question in its original form showed similar disregard for the shift key...
The command of English doesn't seem to change too much
@Benjol ah, fair enough, I didn't think of the possibility of editing
3rd party edits don't show up if done in the 5 minute window, right?
That could explain it.
They do, definitely
It only doesn't if it's by the same author

@YiJiang ah okay
He seems to have a thing about converting php to pdf:

Q: How to create a PDF file with PHP?

magnaHi guys I am working with my new project. I want to generate a new pdf file with the help of PHP code. How can i do this? Do you any have any ideas? thanks

And the fact that my 1st linked question got an upvote to even out my downvote could make one weep
I have come to hate sympathy upvoting when the question is completely worthless
Anyway, the majority of the user's contributions seems to be in line with those PDF questions, so that one answer must have been an anomaly
Morning @RebeccaChernoff
I think that is the reason why the American Empire is descending
You guys simply get up too late!
When you crawl out of your beds, the european worker has been at it for more than eight hours already
@Pekka stares from GMT+8, the timezone of the mighty Chinese empire
13:11
@YiJiang see? More proof that my theory is correct
lol
and then y'all go crawl into your beds while the real stuff happens (;
@RebeccaChernoff Meh, only when you get up and do your fantasy football thingadongdongs
@RebeccaChernoff Touché, Madame Chernoff.
@YiJiang lol what?
But then, GMT+1 is The Time Zone That Matters™
3
As determined in year-long research work by @radp and me
13:14
@Pekka I reject this research.
@RebeccaChernoff, I approve it :)
Okay, trying to do a for loop through Number.MAX_VALUE was A Bad Idea™
It locked up the browser for three whole seconds before the warning poped up
@RebeccaChernoff I reject your rejection and replace it with my own.
And my rejection is voll null and invalid.
I have a chat bug report
When trying to star something, I get a message
I reject your rejection of my rejection! ):
13:25
You have fully used your vote allowance for today
@Pekka The bug is that "today" is defined to be UTC instead of TTM right?
@RebeccaChernoff We all reject your rejection of his rejection of your rejection!
@radp no, the bug is that this message appears at all

Where Americans silently accept the manifest superiority of GMT+1.

@radp yery nice.
13:26
@Pekka @RebeccaChernoff will have too many to use
@Pekka What the hell would I do with all those stars?
@RebeccaChernoff Sprinkle them on your screen, like I do with your 'oy's!
@YiJiang, quick modify to snowify :)
@RebeccaChernoff fair point
@RebeccaChernoff Use 'em or lose 'em!
So I guess lose em?
13:32
@radp It's alright, I don't use all the 'oy's she sends my way either
@YiJiang wha. I figured they were important internet currency!
Did inflation kill it?
@radp Not really - in fact supplies are short because @RebeccaChernoff isn't frequenting this place as often as before
Is my revision here okay, or did I change too much? meta.stackoverflow.com/posts/74850/revisions
@YiJiang ok for me
a picky person can't complain about you being picky about his pickiness :)

Q: Who owns the Graphic Design chatroom?

Yi JiangThe Graphic Design room doesn't seem to have an owner: Of course, the low activity in the room now means that it's fine without an owner, but I think it would be a good idea to give somebody the powers to conduct janitorial works and the like without having to call in mods, when the room acti...

@YiJiang It's the default
Mods can set themselves owner
@radp Hmmm?
But the DBA room does seem to have an owner
@YiJiang A mod added one
@radp Right, so I suppose I'm asking for one now then
@YiJiang You could've just put a mod flag :)
13:57
@radp Bah, why should I trouble our lil' blue mod girl? :P
Good morning everyone
@YiJiang That's her job description! Well one of the many.
Also, any mod at all will do
Even Grace Note or Noctrine or Ivo Flipse.
@radp Hmmm? Really?
@YiJiang Yes, mods are global on chat.SE

Q: Over 222,000 views in 3 days?

ArjanI can see some other websites linking to this, but is this 222k view count in just 3 days really correct...?

Woah! Really, 222k is too much - the programmer joke question has only 300k views, and only over the course of several years

Q: What is your best programmer joke?

hmasonWhen I teach introductory computer science courses, I like to lighten the mood with some humor. People really don't remember floppy drives?
Man that makes me feel old
Most new folks have only seen a "disk" on the save icon...
(that icon now woefully out of date)
@MarcGravell There was actually a question on UI about that, heh.

Q: Save icon, is the floppy disk icon dead?

rick schottThis Twitter post sparked me to ask the question: totally! RT @damienguard: Dear UI designers everywhere. Stop using floppy disk icons for save. Too many people have no idea what it is now. So, is the floppy disk icon dead? Should it be replaced with something more modern and if so wh...

I'm surprised that the hotness rating is only 67, shouldn't it be something like 1200? :)
Hmmm... at a rate of 35 views per min, that question's views are growing quite rapidly
helped by chat and meta posting no doubt
It's already the top question on SU and approximately third most viewed question across the SE network o_o ... in 3 days
14:14
I can see why it's so popular
Those of us who have been using computers for long enough to remember floppy drives have to check the question, in disbelief that others wouldn't know what floppys were. While the rest clearly think, Where does the C: drive come from anyway? What a great question!

Q: New generation of Save icon that is not a "disk"?

GanCurrently, the save icon in almost all applications represents a 3.5-inch disk from the 20th century. An example from Microsoft Office 2010 is shown below: As we move towards more advanced technology, this "disk" save icon now seems obsolete. Kids born in 21st century might not even know what ...

I think the save icon is quaint
@radp I actually quite disliked that question
@Josh Good question. It should be obviously j: shorthand for jQuery

@YiJiang Hey, I already excused myself for my powerpoint!
I know the checkmark is drawn all wrong.
@radp from the comments on that question:
> I'm wondering if the notion of 'Save' in the sense we use it now will itself become outdated, superceded by an elegant implementation of undo/redo, version history etc. Perhaps something along the lines of 'Tag milestone version' might become more relevant in time. – e100 Jan 9 at 11:04
I love it. Maybe I'll do this for the next version of our CMS
14:19
@Josh that's the point of my answer.
@Josh You can use the work Pastebin has done for that
@radp Ok, I hadn't read that far yet :-)
Yeah, I know, it's quite buried.

@radp Maybe you should leave the 'interesting tags' entry in the glossary as 'See: favourite tags'?
Interesting... see: bit.ly/fntOIR+
That bit.ly link carried 14k traffic, heh
goo.gl says 631 clickthrus
Shame for whoever posted it that they didn't link it with their id. I don't know how many times you can get the publicist badge..
It's linked from the bottom of ThinkGeek right now too
And Hacker News picked it up.
14:31
Wow, that is an incredible amount of traffic
@Benjol Well, two people got the Announcer badge for it at least.
Message from a customer after our server migration:

@TimStone How long did it stay there?
Maybe I should make my servers get slow and then "perform" upgrades, it sure gets me lots of compliments!
;-)
14:33
@YiJiang It's #24 on the list right now
@TimStone it is??? LOL
@Josh Yeah, they posted it on their Twitter
@TimStone That's funny. In other news, are you Timmy the Thinkgeek Monkey?????
Let's see if I can get the stats for that j.mp link
I finally discovered your true identity @TimStone
14:35
Well it's more link love to SU and thereby to SE, so I say more power to them!
Either that or @TimStone is batman!
Oh, hang on, it's the same one as for the bit.ly link, huh
@YiJiang Yeah, I just saw that too, heh.
@Josh I am not. :P
Still, assuming the bit.ly link is the only one used by twitter, then that means only 14k views were generated through there
Not that many, if you ask me. Let's try some of the other variations of the link
@TimStone Damn, I thought I had you on that one...
14:38
Hmmm... hacker news doesn't report view counts
Let's see... where else? Reddit?
I didn't see it there, but I also didn't look that hard
Definitely not as big as hacker news
Oh wait, I got the wrong one, argh
There we go, I should never have doubted reddit :P
1000+ comments, etc :P definitely contributed quite a lot of views there
Aye, hahah
@YiJiang how d u find this info?
about popular questions?
@Tshepang SO's top votes questions, only two had more than 220k views
The best comments one and the programmer joke one. By the time you reach second page, not one question made it past 100k views
14:47
oh, I thought there were some stats somewhere
SF and SU both don't have any question that made it past 100k views
@Tshepang You can use the data explorer, but this is quite simple to confirm, so
I see there's no way to sort by popularity
I guess the explorer is the only way we can do this
What other URL shortening services provides stats?

A: Over 223,000 views in 3 days?

Yi JiangWell, let's have some fun collecting the stats for this question ourselves. bit.ly stats: 14.1k clicks Hacker News: 400 points, 260 comments reddit: 5400 total votes, 1100 comments twitter: 1200 tweets Numbers are rounded, because they'll change rapidly anyway. Be sure to add to this list if ...

@YiJiang is.gd maybe?
@radp No stats, hmmm
I thought they did.
> two users shortening the same URL will get different shortened links back
This makes it useless
We need the exact same is.gd link that's propagating round the net to get the stats
Err, that's gonna be the case anywhere given that anyone can link to it with their id in the url.
15:08
@RebeccaChernoff Yeah, but the original tweet from Jeff didn't, so... hmm...
I never said the research was gong to yield every single click
@YiJiang It better..or else!
I think that's the one at least. Twitter's search searches shortened links, but I think I recall hearing backtweets was better. No guarantees.
@RebeccaChernoff The search yielded slightly less than 2000 results, so there... hmmm
But man, is it me, or does BackTweet's interface look broken?
Yeah, that's not how it's supposed to look, heh.
Also, it wants you to shell out some money for more stats, :(
15:14
The font-family is MS Shell Dlg, really?
Ah, or maybe it's just default font..

I did have Arial installed through mscorefont-ttf

Q: Please provide an option to expand large chat messages in the transcript

Grace NoteDuring chat, there is a rare occasion that one might see an exceptionally large chat message. A: Allow longer comments in moderator flags

Jeff AtwoodAs a result of this question, I am seriously considering increasing the text input limit on the moderator flag box from 150 to 151 characters. Note new mod dialog and new length of other comment.

@LanceRoberts Sadly, the box is still too limited to permit that entire poem.
16:22
lol
I wonder what the record is for the most downvoted feature-request getting implemented?
> @Jeff I just tested this change and while I could write up to 500 characters in the field, the mod panel truncates it to 150
Well played, Jeff, well played.
It's the best of both worlds!
Just looked it up, that post is at the very bottom of the [status-completed] [feature-request] list.
The sad thing, is this really worth +5?

Q: Heavy use of PHP's "<?php" tag

That's hysterical
so @ircmaxell do you disagree with this:

@ircmaxell Eh... no, I wasn't
I believe I might be, sec
sorry
bah, chat search fail again!
16:38
@Josh Yeah I remember that... I do like echo, and/or generating HTML in strings.
yes, found it
@ircmaxell That was it
And I misunderstood what you were saying when you @Fosco and I were discussing that
ahhh
Yeah, I have no issue with embedding PHP and HTML. I just want it indented properly...
Because I think the above answer I posted is good form, but you agree which I thought you wouldn't have, so
which is how that answer did it...
@ircmaxell Got it. We agree completely then
Also, I want the business logic and presentation to be separated
16:41
Yup. What I couldn't stand was the guy in the Netbeans answer who incisted on removing all indenting for PHP code to make it "scannable"...
I like that form
@Josh I've never used that method before, with the colon..
@Josh I'll extend that, Business logic, presentation logic and presentation should all be separated...
@ircmaxell Ahhhh, yes, got it now, and agree :-D
@ircmaxell Yes, true
I'm a fan of View-Pull MVC.
16:42
@Fosco OK true I use braces instead. but the mix of PHP/HTML
Where the View interacts with the model to pull what it needs to render. So the controller builds the view, and tells it what to render (for example, the id of the profile to render), and the view pulls the data it needs from the respective model...
@ircmaxell Yeah the framework system I designed for our SaaS is all MVC and the views are .phtml files, mixing HTML and PHP like that
I do like his method though, it is very readable.
Cool. we're all in agreement then
That's odd. :)
16:44
Meaning when I get more budget I can hire you two :-D
On a side note:
I actually use a 4 layer MVC. MVCL -> The layouts are PHP files that have no "logic" other than rendering (if's and loops, but no queries or other interaction)...
If you don't hurry, I might be a millionaire by then.
OMFG P.F. CHANG'S NOW HAS DIM SUM!!!!! YEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!!! DIM SUM FTW!!!
(@RebeccaChernoff ^^^)
@Fosco Then you can buy my company! XD
16:44
dim sum as what? ;x
2
@Josh I'm skeptical of this. :P
is casually open to new employment opportunities...
Dim sum is a Cantonese term for a type of Chinese dish that involves small individual portions of food, usually served in a small steamer basket or on a small plate. Going for dim sum is usually known in Cantonese as going to "drink tea" (yum cha, 飲茶). History Dim Sum is usually linked with the older tradition of yum cha (tea tasting), which has its roots in travellers on the ancient Silk Road needing a place to rest. Thus teahouses were established along the roadside. Rural farmers, exhausted after working hard in the fields, would also go to teahouses for a relaxing afternoon of t...

I think I'm going to go to Best Buy in 15 minutes and get a Nexus S... I'm sick of Verizon and other BS...
@Josh Where are all of the people I'd like to hire!?
plus it'll save me almost $30 per month...
@TimStone Why are you skeptical? It's P.F. Changs plus Dim Sum!!! What could be better?????
16:48
Real dim sum? ;)
@RebeccaChernoff That's Yiddish. We're talking Chinese here...
Meh, I'm skeptical there's such thing as real dim sum in Amurika
@TimStone Probably more with a chang flair. Chang's is not traditional chinese food, but that doesn't make it bad
@YiJiang: I'm skeptical that there's any real foreign food here...
@Josh grumbles
16:49
There is a chinese restaurant near me that used to do real dim sum, but, they went downhill in the economy and started to suck. it made me very sad :-(
Mostly American renditions of foreign styles...
@Josh You should all be saying 点心 then
@YiJiang I would love to try true Dim Sum in your area
@Josh Oh, I don't doubt it's good. And you've made me hungry, argh.
@YiJiang That would take me hours to figure out how to type. But since you did it for me I'll just copy that, thank you very much!
16:50
@Josh Meh, you'll have to go to Hong Kong for real Dim Sum
@YiJiang Ok yes, this is what I have heard from a woman who lives there
虾饺!叉烧包!烧卖!饺子!
Now I'm hungry too. I think I declare it to be lunchtime! Ah, the power of being an executive.
I'd declare it to be lunchtime, but then I'd have to make food...
海南鸡饭,混沌面,汤圆,宫爆鸡丁,云南麻辣锅,煎饺
Actually, dim sum in Chinese usually means snacks
No, I did not just say snakes there. Time for bed, gosh, snakes...
