@MichaelMrozek I'm about to demand a do-over.
yawns Hooray nap, apparently..

I leave for 4 hours and there were only 30 new messages?
Heh

whoops

@drachenstern Well, I was barely here, so I've decided it was understandable.

Also, hello again Walmart :/

er.. Hi. nevermind me please. :D

12:20 AM
@nebukadnezzar HI @NEBUKADNEZZAR

@TimStone same here ;)
Hi @neb

STARES AT @NEBUKADNEZZAR INTERESTED

Hi @rapd & drachenstern!

Your gravatar looks suspiciously similar to @TimStone's.
calls the sockpuppet police

12:21 AM

Eh, not really. :P

I have an account at launchpad, signed with my pubkey... I doubt i'm any related to him :P

See? Practically the same!
...as far as identicons go.

haha, i guess so

12:24 AM
@neb You'll have to excuse my mobile safari ness ;) ... @radp They do look similar

it's cool

Gone again

12:42 AM
Somebody please explain bulbs on left side of Wally world and lamps on right side ...

@drachenstern Exercise.

Bah, I don't want exercise, I'm shopping at WM ;)

I know, but they want to support a healthier America, so they've tricked you ;)

Well what sucks is I went to the bulbs thinking the lights would be there to start with :/

Ah, yeah...I'm honestly not even sure where lamps are in ours, heh.

12:54 AM
By the "furniture" ;)

I see, then indeed on the other side of the store from the light bulbs in hardware :P

Sadly

Which is by the garden center and, inexplicably, cosmetics (in my case).

1:08 AM
if (0 != strncmp(instructions.next, "", MAX_PATH_LEN));
    return -1;
I hate myself.

Heh :P

Unfortunately for TIM, the Asiastar engine which came out in a few years after that was a pretty good improvement, so I automatically set all TIMs to upgrade to that. Sorry @TimStone :P

It's OK, that just makes me classic. :P

yay, I got this one string function right after a mere 5 hours!

\o/

1:16 AM
and I didn't even do any actual string fiddling.
/o\
nite people

G'night

Nite @radp

Damn brain and its refusing to work properly. :(

1:46 AM
Hi
I just hit 3K on SO, yay!

@Pekka shakes fist Don't make me have to start going to ServerFault to answer mod_rewrite questions! ;)

@TimStone [self.brain reloadData]; (objective-C)

I'm not sure that Objective-C is the key to making a brain function correctly. :P

Oh, it is.
Objective-C is the key to making the brain function properly.
It's been quite a day.
I used up all my votes, courtesy of @drachenstern and the funny comments thread. I also had my best SO answer ever. Oh, and new glasses.

Adam Wenocur awoke from an extremely vivid dream, entirely in Objective-C.
    Tim Stone That must have been the most terrible square bracket-filled nightmare ever.

1:52 AM
Now to finish the app that's due on Tuesday.
@TimStone - Haha.
square brackets are awesome!
There's a wooden puzzle made up of them.

Ah, yeah.

Square Brackets ftw!
I have one of those on my desk right next to me. Got it from a roommate in school who was cleaning up and leaving.
I couldn't figure it out. My little bro took about 20 seconds to figure it out.
Granted, it's a little smaller than the one pictured here, but still.

Heh :P

@TimStone - It gets better. I dropped it and one of the brackets cracked. He glued it together, but moved the edge in a bit so I almost couldn't fix it.
But yea, he did beat me there.

is it some kind of a puzzle?

1:58 AM
@nebukadnezzar - yea
It's made up of wooden brackets an you have to put it together so it forms the above shape.
Gotta run, ttyl

2:11 AM
ah, cool :-)

Back
@drachenstern - Hi
Nice

hello
so for dinner I decided I needed corndogs, chili, cheese and the remainder of the (still) sparking wine for dinner.
I think it was classy ;)

You were redundant, read the last sentence and tell me just how much wine was the "remainder" of it. :P

> Ok fine Oracle, I will upgrade my effing Java client that I never seem to use, on the off chance I need it ...
I believe there was still about half a 750 but I wasn't measuring before or after ;)
and I didn't drink it from a flute, merely a regular dinner glass

@drachenstern - or on the off chance that you want it to stop nagging you.

2:31 AM
@Moshe I believe you are highly perceptive ;)

I know. We once got into a fight about that. :D

I don't recall it being a fight so much as a disagreement ;) :p

To do a transparent screen, just disassemble the display assembly.
@drachenstern - Yea, ok. Fair enough.
Why go through the hassle of photoshop when you can actually have a transparent screen?

Because transparent aluminum doesn't exist yet?

No, Liquid crystal panels are transparent
Remove the aluminum.
my favorite, with the iPod a close second: flickr.com/photos/w00kie/11033741/in/set-180637
Eh, so much for "so far", it was the last one.
Ever completely disassembled a laptop?

2:35 AM
I guess you don't know what transparent aluminum is then?
Or have I got the wrong moniker?

I don't, sorry. Please explain.

No I had the right reference:
This is a list of fictional materials from the science fiction universe of Star Trek. Like other aspects of stories in the franchise, some were recurring plot elements from one episode or series to another. Metals for starship construction The fictional metals duranium and tritanium were referred to in many episodes as extremely hard alloys used in starship hulls. Transparent aluminum Star Trek technical manuals indicate that transparent aluminum is used in various fittings in starships, including exterior ship portals and windows. It was notably mentioned in the 1986 film Star Trek IV: ...

Ah, star trek.

Hmm... shakes fist at Jin
Have to be very cautious about what I play here.. :P
Ah, there we go...

Sorry, been working on this:
0
A: How to make for loops in Java increase by increments other than 1

drachensternSince nobody else has actually tackled Could someone please explain this to me? I believe I will: j++ is shorthand, it's not an actual operation (ok it really IS, but bear with me for the explanation) j++ is really equal to the operation j = j + 1; except it's not a macro or something that does...

@TimStone that's OK, rchern is kicking my arse 300:150

2:49 AM
@drachenstern I saw that question earlier and raised a brow, heh.
I think she's beating me by one point right now, argh. :P

@TimStone user has like 12 rep, figure they're a very new programmer, thought I would help
I'm just curious if you guys think it was mostly right or totally overkill?
remembering that the OP has 12 rep

@drachenstern Yeah, I figured it was something like that. I also see where the confusion is, glancing at the question. As for your answer, I'll look at that after I finish work (it involves a bit more reading :P)

I think I'm right in my assumption of HSer: shakenearth.com/2009/12/rants-about-school
@TimStone Mine always do involve more reading ;)
"TheTeenGeek.com"
whoa, wait a second!

<rant>I wonder what makes people think MSO is a good place for constant, pointless argumentations... :-( </rant>

> Shaken Earth | The View of the World from a 14 year old
I wish I was that fortunate at 14 to have a computer to program in a real IDE with a real language :S
Instead I had BASIC on something less powerful than an alarm clock :|

2:53 AM
@nebukadnezzar ...Heh. :P Anything in particular?
I was a little more fortunate than that in my time ;)

You were a little more fortunate than BASIC at 14 or a little more fortunate than a processor less powerful than an alarm clock?
I think modern alarm clocks are pretty powerful :S

The first part. Although I guess the second part also.
Heh, this is true. :P

@TimStone yeah, if you must ask meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/73697/…
it totally went out of control right after the first post
I guess I'll rather not post anything tagged as 'discussion' on MSO so soon anymore :P :P

Hmm..

(and I kinda sorta agree with @thrillscience, but that's just my very humble opinion)

2:59 AM
@TimStone what were you using at 14 then? I probably could've pushed for something with C but I had no technical resources at all till I was about 17 so hadn't known really. Plus it wasn't till I was 16 that I ever got to "log in to the www"
well @nebukadnezzar to be fair What are the main reasons for a question being voted down? is usually regarded as a crap question on MSO ... :|

Ah, that might give away my age. ;)
