People who comment on the noms tend to overwhelmingly be idiots.

> When you tell them that you are running for a mod, they never ask you any questions about essential matters. They never say to you, "What does your voice sound like? What games do you love best? Do you collect butterflies?" Instead, they demand: "How old are you? How many flags do you cast? How much do you review?" Only from these figures do they think they have learned anything about you.

Won't work -- you will badly screw up the timing of the bandsaw control. The most likely reason for the Win3.1 requirement for the existing software is that it installs its own interrupt handlers in order to get real-time operation. That isn't possible on modern OSes which run applications unprivileged, and while a VM can emulate it, the interrupt latency will be greater and much much much more unpredictable. — Ben Voigt May 11 '12 at 23:04

I find little sense in running for mod if there's someone that already represents your interests
I was living under a rock meta.stackoverflow.com/a/302462/792066
mmm... actually no...

@Braiam It's not really a position based election though. Mods don't change many aspects of the site (especially a sole mod); it's really the will of the community that can decide whether to change or not.

@hichris123 well, then where you leave "lead the community with the example"? :P

4:10 AM
Most people don't run in an election in order to do that. And I bet that a person's purpose for being a mod changes drastically after election.
You see a whole new perspective on things.

Q: Unhelpful discussion around suspensions

PureferretIn the past few weeks we’ve had a lot of discussion from the community about the necessity for community manager and moderator intervention. Whilst we value input from our community, we are also concerned that this can be detrimental if it’s about someone who has been suspended, and they cannot...

An edit from a user who was later suspended...
An answer from a very rep user, >100k rep (was even a mod earlier!) who also was later suspended...
