WhatsApp is stupid.

Overvalued bubble company.

It's used a ton in the rest of the world though.

> WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia and yes, those phones can all message each other! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends.
How is this not already beaten into the ground?

@Wesley if I might offer some advice... If this stuff - the questions, the community - if it starts to get to you that way, take a break. This should be fun; something you do for the love of the topic, of the profession, in hope of building resources that are better than the ones you had to learn from. If it isn't fun any more, stop doing it.

A: So what's the point of the moderator election?

Grace NoteSo, normally, when a moderator election has fewer than N+1 candidates, where N is the number of seats available, we extend the nomination phase by one week to allow for more people to nominate. Usually I'm good to pay attention to this when making the transition. However, in the process of settin...

user259867
Solution: introduce a dummy candidate in each election, who says and does absolutely nothing. To be elected, one has, at a minimum, to beat that candidate.

user259867
This enables voters to say: A and B are okay but I don't want C as a mod, thus making election meaningful even when the number of nominees is too small.

@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Yeah. If anything, being a mod makes it harder, not easier, to engage at the level he's talking about. My experience on ebooks has been that it's harder to contribute in certain ways once you have the diamond because so many actions have greater weight.

Well, that makes four worthy candidates and a semi-worthy catdidate.
I wonder if will change to or something similar.

I'm worthy! :D

I enjoyed this one from the last moderator election on Security.SE .
@bjb568 Ok, here's my question.... as a cat, you're a natural to clean up the spills on aisle 3 when they are milk or cream. What would you do if the spills were dog food? :-)

@S.L.Barth Lucas is a nice guy, but I'm sad he didn't get elected.

@S.L.Barth That's why we have a diverse moderation team. Each moderator can specialize in their most productive cleanup domain.

Ok, that is actually a good answer!

So @BJB will prolly lick everything PHP.

:D

@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. I recall that llama also having something of "a dangerous sociopath with a long history of violence".... ;-)

If @BJB gets elected, I'll eat my hat. :P

Can I nominate Smokey? :-)

I don't think smokey has 3K

46 on SO. Nothing we can't solve with a few well-placed bounties, if Smokey would just answer a question on SO.

Make Great Stack Overflow Again is one of the worst nomination pieces around...

That cat is a jumping jack champion

@bjb568 That should be in your nomination, not here...

@bjb568 Is that a video of your intended moderation style? :-)

:D
@NormalHuman I have literally 0 chars in the nom left.

Fun fact: bjb reached more people (635k) than Undo (499k) or Vinod Madyalkar (258k), despite their higher reputation.
