@ArtOfCode Better, yes. But I do think it would be more beneficial if you did some dry runs before actually suggesting the edits, and tuned the algorithm from there.

@bjb568 not https here

@Unihedron meh, SE sucks

2:31 AM
I mean my domain

ur domain sukz too

For a certificate?

Hosting.

@hichris123 cloudflare over https requires a subscription, etc

2:32 AM
Yeah, but there's Let's Encrypt now...

Certs are free…

@bjb568 Not typically. A typical DV cert is $20, although with newer services (like Let's Encrypt) they're becoming free.

@bjb568 - Proper certificates are expensive (how much?). Cheap certificates require the user to accept things they don't understand from a browser scary red dialog.
quoting directly from the link I just added
although it's 2015 already, are there reliable and cheap tls certs yet?

1 min ago, by hichris123
https://letsencrypt.org/

2:35 AM
@Unihedron huh? what?

Got certs. But secure hosting costs quite a bit more.

@hichris123 not bad, maybe I'd trust it for prod when it doesn't have the beta line

@hichris123 where is the "get a cert" button?
looks like a blag to me

@Unihedron Yeah, it's getting there.
> letsencrypt -d example.com auth

Why's that hidden? Needs to be on the front page.

2:37 AM
I heard they said beta somewhere

shrug

> DO NOT RUN THIS CODE ON A PRODUCTION SERVER. IT WILL INSTALL CERTIFICATES SIGNED BY A TEST CA, AND WILL CAUSE CERT WARNINGS FOR USERS.
Very reassuring.

@bjb568 from where?

/del
@SmokeDetector del

2:37 AM
@hichris123 the beta

@bjb568 Yeah, that warning really shouldn't be there anymore...

What, it works now?

well, switching our CDN over https is still expensive

how so?

We are trusted! https://letsencrypt.org/2015/10/19/lets-encrypt-is-trusted.html

2:39 AM
Why's it say:
> currently supports Apache on .deb based systems
Shouldn't certs work anywhere?

@Braiam we're using cloudflare's free plan, https is a "pro feature"
cue how much I hate cloudflare

@bjb568 Yes, but the tool automatically sets up Apache to use the cert/TLS.
So you can manually generate the cert...

ohkay

but then you have to configure Apache/Ngnix/whatever else manually.

@Unihedron strict https is a premium feature, you can serve https from client-cloudflare for free

2:41 AM
ohh
I guess I learned something new today, huh

Basically almost any browser trusts the certs now, @bjb568. Except for... a very few. :P

@PraxisAshelin Because he wanted that; you can tell Smokey to notify you for a report on a specific site.
And he registered himself for that on lots of sites.
in Charcoal HQ on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, 17 hours ago, by ProgramFOX
To tell Smokey that you want to get pinged for posts on site Y in room X on chat host Z, you have to run the following command: !!/notify X Y, and this command has to be run in a room on host Z where Smokey listens (on chat.stackexchange.com, it's Charcoal HQ, on chat.meta.stackexchange.com it's Tavern on the Meta, on chat.stackoverflow.com it's the SO Close Vote Reviewers room). Note that Y has to be the full site domain, e.g., parenting.stackexchange.com, not just parenting.

If you've found a bug in an npm dependency and patched it and submitted a pull req, what should you do next? Your code depends on the working version…
Should I just hack in the fix to my local and production servers and deal with the fact that other people won't be able to run it?
It will resolve itself when the pull req is merged and a new release of the module is pushed…

I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair.
Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets.
Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me,
all day I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps.

I hunger for your sleek laugh, your hands the color of a savage harvest,
hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails,
I want to eat your skin like a whole almond.

I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body,
the sovereign nose of your arrogant face,
I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes,

@ArtOfCode Why? Can't you just do the dry run over recent posts? (it doesn't have to be from a data dump/etc)

@ArtOfCode You can give feedback on your own bot...

@hichris123 Aye, but the problem there is that I would have made a different decision in a number of edits the bot made on SO than actually happened.
