Oh good. It died.

fifteen seconds of rate limiting

6:22 PM
Feature request for Smokey: A way to prevent all of this ^.
3

that would be wildcards
evidently I'm the only person to want to get subscribed to all 149 sites, I'm willing to pay the price

Or, it could be hosting smokey in another room for this. Or it could be a little bit of rate limiting on your part.

Smokey posts too many messages in this room, it drowns/ kills the chat

@Andy I don't have the power to move it. I'm already being rate limited.

I'm not saying move smokey entirely, but I am saying this particular aspect doesn't need to be here

6:24 PM
@InfiniteRecursion there's no silent mode

System rate limits and what I'm talking about are different. There are 4+ pages of "load older messages" to scroll back through to find something other than you and smokey deleting messages

Guess who isn't reading the transcript @Unihedron. I'm sitting in the room.

Solution = kick Smokey and Uni for that ^

@Andy use the chat all you want, ping me when you're done

6:27 PM
Nah. I'm good. My feature request was to prevent in in the future.

@Andy It's not like I have to set it up every day to get notifications.

Pls stop

@InfiniteRecursion what for?

It's really annoying and actively disturbing chat
2

Fine.

6:35 PM
Thanks

Then I'll leave you to enjoy your undisturbed chat and continue registering the notifications next time. Bye!
It's not like anyone's chatting anyway.

Might be good to see how it works for the first 100+ sites before adding the rest of them anyway. :)

@AwesomePoodles Despite all my efforts and time wasted the count of the ones I've already linked hasn't reached 100.

@Unihedron Also try adding the minus at the end of the request. See if that squelches Smokey's reply as per usual.

@AwesomePoodles does not

6:39 PM
Darn.

If it does I wouldn't be deleting the messages afterwards.
I'm surprised I bothered, anyway.

what are you bothering, anyway?
there's like 150 (removed) above, kinda unusual

maybe we should just kick both?

Smokey's dead useful. Just needs a tweak to not encourage such shenanigans.

It isn't useful. It posts too many reports and drowns/kills chat.

6:52 PM
Haven't seen it squelch chat. Far from it.

@InfiniteRecursion I have no comment to make regarding your ungrounded judgement.

This chatroom has become like a review queue IMO, full of stuff that needs attention.
3
Who chats in here nowadays?

@InfiniteRecursion you're better to be asked that than I am, I just rejoined today

@InfiniteRecursion I can remove it. I think you'd find yourself with a dead room.
Just saying

@InfiniteRecursion Yeah, that's true a little. But it's a useful queue and there are plenty of other chatrooms.

6:55 PM
The main reason I'm even in the room anymore is because of Smokey. Otherwise, I'd just be in TL and I wouldn't have to deal with the chat trifurcation.

Ditto.

@Undo It's useful :) Those who leave will find other places.

@Undo lol!

@InfiniteRecursion Just yesterday we had a very active chat about Taggerbot.

7:11 PM
I read it. I lurk around here and read stuff @S.L.Barth :)

7:32 PM
I just rolled back this

8:12 PM
@S.L.Barth do we need to roll back again?

@rene That initial part should be edited out. But he's (understandably) a bit upset at the moment. Might be best to talk a little first.

OK, left a comment

So did I. I've tried to make him feel a little better about it. Let's give him a little time, then suggest to clear out the irrelevant parts.

8:19 PM
OK, will do

Ah, you're going to post the next comment? OK. I think you'd best point out that complaining about the response to a question, tends to attract more negativity.
I don't care who of us talks with him, but I don't want him to feel as if he's getting flooded with comments.

I'll leave it to you, Just ping if you need support or ideas

Ok, I'll pick this up then.

tnx
sorry for being unclear about that

No problem.

Well... it took some thinking, hopefully I managed to reach him.
Meta can be a harsh place if you don't know how to navigate it.

So. Another run of 10 edits on Stack Overflow produced a 60% approval rate, using revision 21B.
22B is the newest revision.
Admittedly that's a pretty small sample size, but it at least hints that the algorithm has improved.

9:24 PM
@InfiniteRecursion Maybe we should ask Community Building, I'm sure they're all experts on building a healthy, active community... oh wait.

@InfiniteRecursion I don't as much as I used to.
But, meh.

@ArtOfCode Kinda... but there's still some... not so great stuff. For instance, stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/10108436 doesn't seem to add anything, nor does stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/10108332 or stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/10108327 -- more fluff tags. Maybe stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/10108428 too. Adding the class tag in stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/10108499 wasn't horrid, but probably not...
the best tag either. stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/10108543 looks good though.

That's just a typical NAA...

I don't agree, but it's still flaggable nonetheless.

Is this spam? It's just a generic link to a commercial home page (not product page) and text saying "Look here".
