Today is the 5th birthday of Unix & Linux. Congratulations! Their post comes from 3 years ago today: Bash: What does ">|" do?

user163250
12:22 AM
I just read an email that said I should pop in here and let people know that I'm still alive.

user163250
I've actually been trying to avoid anything Meta-related as much as possible, so I won't be around anymore (at least if I can help it).

user163250
Hope everyone is doing well, take care!

I hate that it usually takes hours to close spam on Stack Apps, versus minutes or seconds for most other SE sites. Anyone want to get a spam flag in at stackapps.com/questions/6522/steelers-vs-vikings-nfl-live ?

user259867
@AwesomePoodles Glad to help, but of course this is not "closing".

@NormalHuman Thanks! few more spam flags and it'll get auto-closed.

user259867
12:29 AM
Not closed...

@KevinBrown IDK how to SSLs.
fix it for me if you want

@NormalHuman are you following me?
If so, how?

user259867
@durron597 One of tailgate lights on your car is broken.

Those were NAA flags

user259867
Those are broken, too.

12:31 AM
My best guess is that you looked at recent SEDE queries
Oh. NAA flags go into LQP review.
I thought it was just VLQ that did that

user259867
Within the review, there is almost no difference between those. Reviewers don't even know which flag it was.

@bjb568 How is your SSL managed?

@NormalHuman Right, I understand that now

12:52 AM
@NormalHuman "almost"?

user259867
Or maybe none. Unless there is a difference in how the flags are dismissed upon someone's edit.

user259867
Does an edit knock the item out of review or not... And will the flag be helpful or disputed...

user259867
Stuff like that, which nobody thinks about.

user259867

@NormalHuman Yeah, I was hoping to get a spam post closed (and by "closed" I mean deleted) in less than an hour. And we were very close this time!
@James Been discussed on MSE. Dev's enjoy our pain. Just Adblock it.

@NormalHuman Figures that there's Stack Apps spam the one time I'm not by the computer. :P

@TimStone With respect, Tim. Stack Apps spam usually takes several hours to close. :(

user259867
And by close, you mean delete...

Of course

user259867
1:06 AM
Sorry, it's just a point of pain because some users indeed "vote to close as spam", writing a custom off-topic reason.

@AwesomePoodles I didn't say I didn't enjoy it

@AwesomePoodles Eh? There's not that much spam on Stack Apps.

Is that BJB in a costume?

But if it happens while I'm asleep, then sure.

@James TMI!

1:08 AM
If you ping me in here I'll get a notification on my phone at least and take care of it :)

@TimStone Yeah, maybe every 10 days. I'll try the ping next time. But, since you are the only active mod, I don't want to annoy you overmuch.

@KevinBrown I just push buttons and things happen

@rene, out of interest how can you tell (I don't have 10k on SO) just that it was deleted by him rather than community I guess?

@PeterJ It shows who deleted what.

@PeterJ he deleted, then undeleted it, then it was nuked by community

Also, @Peter you can take a look at the revisions.
If you have 10k

So I guess he realized the flags where OK after he dismissed your flag

9:34 AM
Ahh OK thanks, knew what a normal spam deleted looked like from having 10k on EE so wondered what the clue was for that one

Look who's there...

My mistake... I thought I'd scrolled all the way to the end of the post, but my browser flipped back before getting to the end... so all I could see was NAA (ie - didn't see the link)
(so declined the spam flags and deleted the post)
Then realised my bad, so thought I'd try undeleting it, then flag spamming it myself, to see if it un-did the declined spam flags, but it didn't so...

@Jon no problem, the snippet threw me a bit too at first until I checked the markup (it was a Smokey report)

Sigh, you see. This is why @JonClements isn't a great moderator. I mean, constructive dialogue ... admitting mistakes? That's not how you do it! You blame the users and suspend them. .... One day you'll learn.
