A: Would you play a Stack Overflow board game?

KevinWhat would you think about a game around building Stack Overflow where each person plays a Jeff. I see it as a cross between The Settlers of Catan and Monopoly, where you have to accomplish certain tasks in order to win (like building the servers, writing the code, etc.) There could be like fate ...

user259867

A: Is closing old questions a gigantic waste of time and effort?

Shog9It's hardly the first time I've said something like this... Personally though, I don't think it matters. A question that struggles to get even 100 viewers period isn't exactly poisoning the air on the site - no one's looking at it! The most problematic posts are the ones that get in the way...

balphaI've been meaning to make this change for a while, so this was a good nudge to finally do it: From the next build on, if a comment thread contains a comment by a user whose name starts with a non-ASCII letter, then just typing @ will bring the tab completer up with that name: If all reply can...

@Mysticial - To be honest, I don't know that I've ever seen that happen. Almost all people trying to manipulate the voting system are extremely lazy. These aren't criminal masterminds we're dealing with. We're talking about people who create sock puppet accounts that have the exact same name as their main account. My personal favorite was [username]'s sock puppet that was named "[username] vote up account". — Brad Larson ♦ 3 hours ago

A quick check of the logs shows 70% of page views network-wide hitting Stack Overflow yesterday, @gnat; no doubt this varies over time of course, and even if it were consistent that'd be no reason to ignore the needs of other sites... However, the median # of comments per post is between 1 and 3 network-wide, and on all but 32 sites 90% of posts get 5 or fewer comments. For VLQ/NAA-flagged posts specifically, only 7 sites have less than 90% of posts with 5 or fewer comments. It is an edge-case of an edge-case. — Shog9 ♦ 4 hours ago
