How to make this work in SEDE?
> select (q.acceptedanswerid = a.id) as [Accepted]
Basically check 1 if the answer is accepted or 0 if not

user259867
@TinyGiant select case when ... like here: data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/268253

And can I then give that column a column title?
And can I sum by that column?
I would like to be able to combine this query with this one so that it can calculate rep gained from accepted answers as well as upvotes

user259867
12:32 AM
You can do select case .... as Something, and I suppose the sum will work too.

it doesn't seem to be working for me
Oh, I got the title to work, was putting it in the wrong spot

user259867
@TinyGiant I googled "select sum case when"..... SQL Query - SUM(CASE WHEN x THEN 1 ELSE 0) for multiple columns by MickJuice on stackoverflow.com

That's a bit over my head

user259867
You don't need the whole thing, it does have an example of a functioning query doing such a thing.

user259867
Incidentally, the total score of Q&A there is 6, contrasted with viewcount > 34000

12:37 AM
Wow
A lot of people saw it and didn't think it was useful enough to upvote

user259867
Likely, most of those people didn't have an account.

Oh, I figured it out
Thanks for that link

user259867
Actually, anonymous feedback there is mostly negative... many of those 34000 must have been searching for something else.

Hmmm. I guess so
The title must not be as appropriate as possible.

Today is the 3rd anniversary of the graduation of Mathematica (not to be confused with Mathematics). The site graduated exactly 6 months after the start of the private beta (those were the good times).

user259867
For I picked a question from the first day of their private beta: Where can I find examples of good Mathematica programming practice? by Guess who it is. The top answer is currently in its 256th revision; there's a claim that it is the most-edited post on Stack Exchange.

user259867
That's pretty hard to do on Meta, since the badge requires no downvotes on that day.

user259867
E.g., Atwood or Shog don't have that badge, and neither does Jon Ericson who proposed it in the first place.

I don't even have 100 questions on meta that aren't deleted, much less not downvoted

user259867

Oh. But you do have a script notifying you of name mentions in chat, it seems.

Not exactly. In this case I was here trying to figure out the source of the NPR discussion

A: How can we avoid Programmers.SE from becoming the SE black sheep?

Shog9I'm here because I want this site to succeed. Not as "Questions we wish were allowed on SO", but as "Questions that can't be allowed on SO". A place for all the things that SO/SE was never designed for, or explicitly designed to prevent, but which massive numbers of users want anyway. I really, ...

user259867
And now their bulletin has "Structured Tag Cleanup Initiative Phase II"... how much fun is that?

NPR has gone to hell...

1:14 AM
If Programmers is NSO, then NPR is NNSO is SO.

someone said that negation of a negation is not an affirmation

Yeah right.

@Shog9 From my (limited) experience with programmers.SE I've found that it is pretty well as strict as SO, and many of the questions not allowed on SO are also not allowed on programmers.SE. In fact i have been insta-shouted at for recommending that a question be asked on programmers.SE.

Yeah, funny about that... All the folks who wanted it to be fun had their fun and left; then the folks who wanted it to be serious but vague realized that vague was impossible to police for seriousness and left. Which left the folks who were serious and quite specific and also... really focused.

1:18 AM
So the worst of the worst are left over?
@Braiam Yeah, that one

Well, essentially what's left are the folks who thought SO wasn't professional enough.

@Shog9 funny enough, I think I only had searched a question which answer was found on P.SE, and I haven't searched for similar topics since

user259867

I suppose there isn't much that can be really done about it, as it has been (somewhat) proven that the users will not be there to answer the questions.

How many hard/soft splits, or however you want to call it, are there?

1:21 AM
I have no beef with Progse - they figured out what they wanted to be (eventually) and made it happen. That's all that's necessary. Additionally, they provide a handy cautionary tale for folks wishing to propose offtopic.stackoverflow.com, which won't scare away the children forever but will at least keep them out of the woods for a few years.

A: How can I encourage Stack Overflow to rein in the 'subjective' vigilantes?

Yannistl;dr We already tried supporting those questions, we even gave them their own site. Sadly, it didn't work out. C'est la vie. @TinyGiant Looks complicated to me. I'd replace the join of posthistory events by a clause where exists (like in example B here). The meaning is "where exists a closure event with bad reason"... but then it's not necessarily the latest one. Don't know how to pick the latest.

I know that while (true) {} would cause a inf-loop, but I don't expect you to include that on js that runs on your website
and I remember that Firefox would stop the execution of the script

It'll just crash the tab... which is probably better, IMO.
Since if someone decided to put an infinite loop in their code... they're probably not trying to be nice to you.

I think you are missing a camp: 5. Those users who visit the site to solve their problems, and who like to help others. Like 1 they want to have nice content, but their number one criterion is "is it helpful (and civil)"? They don't care much about "is it a good match for SE/constructive" and are frustrated by the deletionism of 1. They dont't care much about 2, answer the questions if it is not much effort, otherwise ignore them. They don't care about 3 either, and find the grudge of 1 against 3 silly. Let them have the rep they can get, if they're having fun and contributing useful content. — jdm Apr 26 '14 at 9:42
