Today, I flagged a Taverner for plagiarism. I must admit that I am a bit surprised by the behaviour. Not what I expected.

@InfiniteRecursion That's a taverner?

@Unihedron Not very active in this room, but does hang in here, so yes.

I'm asking to reassure because I've seen them around on chat.SO and their behaviour is against what I observe common in this room.
So there you go.

A: Match a specified pattern in regex java

Avinash RajYou could try the below. Pattern.compile("^[+0-9][-0-9 ]{8,17}[0-9]$");

@InfiniteRecursion beat that ^

@DroidDev What's with that?

@DroidDev Small sections of code which can be written individually by two different users is not plagiarism (even if they are identical). Plagiarism applies if there are no doubts about the copy.

@DroidDev What about it?

@ProgramFOX very high rep user, not educating low rep users

@DroidDev Don't USE that word.

@Unihedron oh, ok sorry

There's nothing wrong with that answer. It's simply a crappy regex solution, not plagiarized.
A plagarized solution is one that's blatantly copied without doing so in good faith.

@DroidDev Do nothing.

shouldn't there be a textfield on that page(migration page), where user can enter url of site, to which question should be migrated?
I am thinking of a feature-request

@DroidDev No, only moderators can access that.
@DroidDev Previously suggested, [status-declined].

There's a reason you can only pick from 5- sites on the migration list which are decided by local moderators.

I'm really delighted to see the new Cogro Ops Specialists dig in and start writing replies. What they're doing was something that was added on to our jobs, but not really part of it, it just fell on our team to do, so we did it, and we basically just tried our best to get through our turns. For these folks, it's their main job and they're taking a lot of ownership in it. Replies much more thoughtful than we usually wrote, and great attention to detail.

Q: Old question review queue

Zach SaucierWith the increased usage of technology and particularly with the internet, the world changes at an increasingly rapid rate more than ever before. We’re still relatively bad at creating with this in mind but that doesn’t mean that we can’t try to do just that. One of, the biggest problems with th...

It's too long.
What problems does it solve and why doesn't existing methods solve it?

solves answers being outdated and there are no existing methods to solve it besides happening to come across old questions

@ZachSaucier Can't you sort by [active] and start at page 5 (or other arbitrary number) and scan through them?
It seems fundamentally the same to me as a review queue.
With a new queue, there will be robo-reviewers looking to click buttons for a badge, effectively ruining the "let's keep stuff updated" aspect.

I don't see how that's the same thing

@ZachSaucier I don't see how that's not - you'd be looking at old posts either way. Can you clarify?

1:53 PM
@SmokeDetector fp- that's not an email!!!

I'm seeking to have old posts reviewed that have lots of views by knowledgeable people. filtering by activity shows posts by last update but not necessarily update by someone who knows the subject. It also makes it such that there are a majority of questions not needing review (by my standards) because they don't have enough views

If they have enough views to matter, how come they don't have enough views to be kept updated?

@ZachSaucier How about searching for questions with >N views with search parameters and then sorting by active?

@JanDvorak the views don't necessarily coincide with knowledgeable people who care about improving them viewing it
also, having another way to view questions that people actually use to answer would be nice to have IMO

@ZachSaucier How does having a review queue fix that?

1:56 PM
I hate rushing to answer new questions because of all the rep whores SO has
@Unihedron by bringing up old posts that they know something about

With a new queue, there will be robo-reviewers looking to click buttons for a badge, effectively ruining the "let's keep stuff updated" aspect.
Also, for any arbitrary criteria that defines "old", you can just query that on SEDE or as a SE search.

I feel like the majority of users with over 40 in a tag wouldn't be seeking to robo review questions in their field of knowledge for the sake of a badge

Oh oh oh I assure you you will regret that feeling if your feature request gets into production.

Parkinson's law of triviality, also known as bikeshedding, bike-shed effect, or the bicycle-shed example, is C. Northcote Parkinson's 1957 argument that organisations give disproportionate weight to trivial issues. Parkinson observed and illustrated that a committee whose job was to approve plans for a nuclear power plant spent the majority of its time with pointless discussions on relatively trivial and unimportant but easy-to-grasp issues, such as what materials to use for the staff bike-shed, while neglecting the less-trivial proposed design of the nuclear power plant itself, which is far more...

I don't know if I actually invented this term or not, but I am certainly not the originator of the story that spawned it.

This started as a piece of Interplay corporate lore. It was well known that producers (a game industry position, roughly equivalent to PMs) had to make a change to everything that was done. The assumption was that subconsciously they felt that if they didn't, they weren't adding value.

@user2284570 No, it's not. That's for pending flags.
The question never asks for any pending flag data, just data on handled flags.

@hichris123 My question asks for data on handled fags. This question ask for accessing flagged data in general whether Pending or not.
So it differs. And a part for the oldest one is already available.
and contrary to what @JonSeigel says, deleted data is already available for requests on SEDE.

A shogun (将軍, shōgun, [ɕoːɡu͍ɴ], literally "general") was a hereditary military governor in Japan during the shogunate period from 1192 to 1867. In this period, the shoguns were the de facto rulers of the country, though officially they were appointed by the emperor. The modern rank of shōgun is equivalent to a generalissimo. Although the original meaning of shogun is simply a "general", the title was the short form of sei-i taishōgun (征夷大将軍), the governing individual at various times in the history of Japan, ending when Tokugawa Yoshinobu relinquished the office to the Meiji Emperor in 1867.
