8 tiny, 18 small, 9 medium-size, 4 large, 1 huge

So yes, 40.

If you crop the image to 359x359 you can achieve a 41st square

Joke's on all of you—every pixel is a square!

No they aint!
Each have subpixels.

@Woodface you missed the 4 3/4 sized ones
the 3x3's

12:14 AM
@Frank No, those are the "4 large".

@AlexisKing oh right

Hm… it's remarkable I haven't broken my email sending.

It's remarkable you haven't fixed it either.

require("nodemailer").createTransport(require("nodemailer-sendmail-transport")()).sendMail({from:"DevDoodle <support[at (teh totally awesome)]devdoodle.net>",to:"meeemail@icloud.com",subject:"Sendmail test",html:"hello"}); // node codes
@hichris123 Sending works. Receiving doesn't.

@AlexisKing You should be able to count both the internal and external versions: those are not one-dimensional lines, but borders.

@hichris123 coz they work?

@bjb568 No, because it's simpler. Now, whether that's a good thing or not can be debated.

12:30 AM
Simple things tend to work.

... have you ever seen a doorknob that doesn't turn?

Open doorways!
Magnetic latching!
Automatic doors!
Doorknobs that don't turn are useless, you can just use no doorknob.
With the exception of a sliding door.

user259867
@hichris123 Perhaps they do. But my report about nothing to install was gathering dust on meta.webapps when I posted it there. Eventually got migrated to meta.SE, and noticed after a bounty.

@Woodface I never said you didn't have to poke someone. :P
@bjb568 You............ missed the point. A doorknob that doesn't turn is a broken doorknob.

[ SmokeDetector ] Repeating characters in answer: How to merge two files into one text file? by Alex on stackoverflow.com

is there any evidence that would suggest that sites that graduate end up getting better stats? if so, wouldn't it make sense to graduate some more sites, like G&L , MV maintenance and repair, that are fairly decent already, but could likely bump up with a more friendly design

user259867
Sometimes traffic declines post graduation. Other times grows, but what's the cause is unclear. I think it would make more sense to make beta design less beta-ish (throw in some bolder color somewhere).

That joke is so $years years ago.

user259867
MathOverflow is of course an exception: they edited their site's CSS back in the SE 1.0 days to un-bolden reputation. This was preserved during the migration to 2.0.

user259867
No, apparently some other sites has normal-weight rep before redesign... RPG, SFF, Drupal...

I mostly hate bold, but even I was surprised by the normal weight's look.

Looks good to me.

user259867
2:26 AM
What I find surprising: the Seasoned Advice design: bold italic for "modified 8 hours ago". As if anyone cared.
6

Suckage.
That's like the quintary set or something.
You don't even need bold for headers if you just make them bigger.
But I don't much mind it there.
It's when people make posts look like ransom notes that I become annoyed.
vERy distracting

@tchrist Either one works for headers, it depends on style.
Both are used on DD.
There's a .title class or something.

@Woodface Huh, it was even like that in the mockup:

h1:not(.title), h2:not(.title), h3:not(.title), h4:not(.title), h5:not(.title), h6:not(.title) {
	font-weight: normal;
	font-family: Verdana;
}
yay, I so know my CSS

user259867
That site will need some serious design update. The ribbon is laughable.

2:32 AM
I wish they would put bold at only half normal.
Since they changed our CSS we cannot even emulate small caps (snail caps? :-) anymore, but that's a separate matter.
Aren't these pretty?
It'll never happen, alas.
O for swash caps in true italic! :-)
I would gladly give up bold in normal paragraphs in return for real small caps.
Then again, who wouldn't?
Answer: kidnappers, that's who!

@Woodface They just 'updated' the Gaming SE design, which, while fixing a few minor bugs, introduced a bunch more
The site looks kind of awful now

@YiJiang They'll fix 'em.

@tchrist Well, it's being a week...
I'm tempted to fix them myself with Stylish

I assume there are bugs reported on the site's meta?

2:40 AM
Yeah

Kurtis has been quite good about getting to fixes.
A few took a while is all. But horrific ones got fixed right away.
I think ours are all fixed now, or as fixed as they will be.

user259867
I never noticed the animation on Ask Question (Arqade) until now.

@tchrist The big one is the added padding around almost everything. Not sure which site's design they were realigning Gaming's to, but now there's too much whitespace around everything

@Woodface heh, is listed in the easter eggs faq

user259867
@YiJiang This is done on all redesigned sites, so I don't think Gaming will be an exception.

user259867
2:45 AM
SE pixel disposal department is influential enough so that everyone is now required to have a lot of whitespace on their screens.

I presume they were using a site like Ask Different as the base. That site has boxes around everything

@YiJiang I felt the same way; you do get used to it. Eventually. I think part may be for supporting people using Dick Tracy watches, so their fingers don't punch the wrong thing so easily. ;-)

Can anyone link to an FAQ (or perhaps answer on MSE) explaining when flag options are and are not present? e.g. sometimes I have the option "Blatantly off-topic" and sometimes I don't (plus other options come and go).

"Blatantly off-topic" is only there if you can flag, but not vote to close.

ok, but what about other times I sometimes go to flag and an option I know exists is not there?

And what option is that?

I knew you were going to ask :( I can't remember, but I do know that sometimes flag options are not available
I'm not talking of obvious ones like I've already used a flag option, or the question is already on hold or "protected" etc
I'll find an example

Migration, perhaps? That's only possible if the question is younger than 60 days.
Or VLQ? VLQ flags cannot be raised on posts with a score higher than 0.

11:42 AM
yes - sometimes VLQ, and spam, offensive etc

If you don't see spam/offensive flags, then the post is already deleted but you didn't refresh yet.

not always the case as far as I can remember. I'll post next time I come across it, it's not uncommon

hm, then I have no idea

I love when people accidentally post programming questions on MSE and tag it .
If I remove all questions from a tag, will the tag eventually go away?

yes
SE daily runs a script to get rid of tags without questions.

Hey @JonEricson (sorry, you're the most recent CM in the list) do you have a way of finding out how many deleted questions on MSE were tagged ?

3:38 PM

@AstroCB That's my thought. But currently out of the 4 questions in the tag, half of them are relevant, and the tag kind of makes a lot of sense for those. So I am curious how many have been deleted in the past, to see if it's worth taking any action on.

API returning .png logos may be by design, for backward compatibility with the apps that expect .png. They are also included in CSS of redesigned sites: both PNG and SVG logos are provided, with the former presumably used for browsers without SVG support.
