I honestly suspect they're just taking heavy handed action against Google because our Facebook login has literally the exact same behavior they're complaining about. Taking users to Safari is the most secure action because they're never typing their Google password directly into our app.

Basically the initial complaint said "Users open the app and are redirected to Safari." My response so far has been that users aren't really required to log in at all, it's better UX, better security, we'd probably break Google TOS if we did otherwise, and we'd be happy to move Google/Facebook below Stack Exchange login/registration. I'm hoping to hear back positively on that otherwise go through the appeals process.

BTW I've seen "c" omitted from the name "Lipschitz" even in published papers. It doesn't help that there is a contemporary mathematician Robert Lipshitz, whose name is indeed spelled this way. Can't even mention him in some forums.
