"Desperate" is the last word I would use to describe Apple, collectively. But they do seem to have some internal conflict around app review.

nicael Go to https://meta.stackexchange.com/users/signup, or /users/signup on any SE site. Click "sign up" without filling any fields. For readability and consistency - the color of error message should be changed to white. And also, just sayin, the capcha box sticks at the right a bit.

Basically a variation on that. Got a notification from Apple that they don't like the Google+ signin taking users out of the app and we have two weeks to change it or they'll pull us from the store.

Yay, I reached 7k for the first time! :D

@BrianNickel Do they view that as a security concern, or a "this feels like a hack/lack of uniformity" kind of thing?

I honestly suspect they're just taking heavy handed action against Google because our Facebook login has literally the exact same behavior they're complaining about. Taking users to Safari is the most secure action because they're never typing their Google password directly into our app.

It's bad UX anyways

Ooh, if you zoom in it looks like a painting.

9:05 PM
99% of the time, "X has never been this easy" actually means "X is going to be a nightmare".

@BrianNickel Shouldn't you be using the authentication API thing with iCloud keychain?

Confusing people with buzzwords has never been this easy

I remember there was something about that in the WWDC.

Basically the initial complaint said "Users open the app and are redirected to Safari." My response so far has been that users aren't really required to log in at all, it's better UX, better security, we'd probably break Google TOS if we did otherwise, and we'd be happy to move Google/Facebook below Stack Exchange login/registration. I'm hoping to hear back positively on that otherwise go through the appeals process.

Although I'm still unsure about nonsensical usage of "push", "pull", "into", and "out of". But I appear to have at least pulled something out of somewhere.
And I guess I'm now waiting for somebody else to push it back in. Or something.
Or maybe I made a request for somebody to pull something out of (into?) me and push it into (out of?) themselves. Still awkward. I advise against standing downstream.

@JanDvorak Well, I think it's more important to prevent -100 penalty to a real user than to get us one more helpful flag.

it is

@Woodface good point

when moderators clear spam or offensive flags, it automatically disputes them
it even does so retroactively, which I believe is unique to those flag types

10:56 PM
Can't they do helpful but no penalty?

it's a bit of an odd inconsistency, but necessary because of the side-effects those flags have
If it helps, those flags used to be a lot more inconsistent with all other mod flags
@JanDvorak yes, but not without other side-effects

Does community deletion cause the penalty?

@JanDvorak if it gets threshold flags and is auto-deleted and locked? Yes.

I mean if it gets three delvotes

@JanDvorak no
The system considers helpful spam and offensive flags to be fairly strong indicators of Badness, no matter how they got that way.
So moderators are encouraged not to mark them helpful unless the post actually is spam and/or offensive.

Say, a person copies a block of text from the help center into an answer box and posts it?
