I don't like how both parenting questions paint parents as ignorant in programming, to the extent they can't even find out what it is that their child is so much interested in.

Maybe I should a 3rd question there: how do I get a 18-19 year old to understand that y=x+1 is going to throw an error unless you assigned some value to x previously?
In cycles, I just learned, that you can set a lamp's value to a negative number to create a "negative lamp". But in a few tests, instead of removing light, it seemed to just cast black light? What are the lamps actually doing?
