Junior is asleep right now..
@InfiniteRecursion you mean like old people??

No-repro here, posting chat messages works fine.

yes, like Bart
Name him Junior, it sounds far better than JavaBot @Vogel612'sShadow

So you think Bart is old... hmmmm

@rene do you not??

5:03 PM
he said so himself @rene

Sam
@rene Actually, you're allowed to send every Math.min((4.1484 * Math.log(x) + 1.02242), 20)

@InfiniteRecursion well let's have the core running without concurrectModificationExceptions and then think about a name ;)

@SmokeDetector Try shouting at the triangle. Oh wait, it seems like you already tried that.

ok vogel :)

@Sam Yeah, I didn't want to link to the function (or was just to lazy to search)

5:08 PM
@Bart: Please confirm if you are an old pair of glasses. @rene doubts your age and wisdom.

@InfiniteRecursion Watch it, I never said I doubt his age nor his wisdom. That is what you want to make of it....

correction... @rene asked us if we think that you are old. We do.

I had 13 hats in the last winterbash, I checked just now. I had that owl hat too. winterbash2013.stackexchange.com/leaderboard/stackoverflow.com

5:20 PM
I was the Winter Bash leader on PPCG in 2013... going to try to get that again :D

Wow!!
All of us will get free owl hats on Drupal this year (if they join the winterbash) :D

And if there is still an owl hat.

Chances are bleak...I am sure everybody is tired of seeing Jan Dvorak wearing it.

That's not a mask. It grew on me ;-)

Sam
5:35 PM
Strange, your GitHub face doesn't have an owl though...

That's an old photo

Sam
At least we have proof poof that you were (at some point) a human.

Pro tip: if you accidentially click on the tab close button in Firefox, just hold it a few more seconds and the tab won't close.
Wait, that just didn't work anymore :O
Aha, you need to move your mouse away from the close button while holding it.
Updated ProTip: if you accidentially click on the tab close button in Firefox, hold your mouse and move it away from the close button, then the tab won't close.

... me doesn't use firefox

@Unihedron boo

5:42 PM
but to be honest, you can reopen the last closed tab, right?

Yes

user259867
@ProgramFOX This is for mouse clicks in general, not about Firefox.

I'm having so much fun with the user scripts

@Rafflesiaarnoldii eh
ok, good to know :D

5:44 PM
I updated the comment flag / vote icon one to add some horizontal spacing. I made one that underlines links in posts too. I'm so proud of myself. Look! Look at my awesome scripts! github.com/JC3/Misc/tree/master/scripts LOOK AT THEM!
Hm, looks like the tavern train station's been getting a little busier lately.

@ProgramFOX /me wonders what you will learn Firefox can do if you discover the other button on your mouse

@rene MY MOUSE HAS BUTTONS?!

Sam
@rene Which one? He could have 6 other buttons ;)

Holy crap, my computer is so much easier to use now!

@rene My mouse doesn't have buttons. I catched so much mice these days so I cannot use them all as food. I plugged some of them in my computer.

@ProgramFOX If they get stuck, try cleaning their balls.

rofl

Wow, it just dawned on me how long it's been since the last time I had to play with mouse balls.

The future really is now.

@Neo The fact that you were so angered that you felt the need to contact the user off-site, and to keep harassing them afterwards, suggests that perhaps you are identifying too closely with the issue here. You may wish to sit and reflect on your unusually high defensiveness and unusually strong reaction to these events; not so much to help your time on SO, but more to help you become a better person in general, as I suspect these attitudes may extend to other areas of your life. General happiness will improve after reflection. — Jason C Aug 8 at 17:49
^that's was nice, I recognize you from that comment onwards

@InfiniteRecursion I'm afraid I can't do that. I have been 29 for several years now

6:23 PM
:D

6:40 PM
The viagra edit spammer strikes again.

You have to wonder for how long he'll keep it up ...

@JasonC should we invite him to WAG? :P

user259867
7:33 PM
Oh nice, something to post in comments under the posts bordering on spam: How to not be a spammer

7:44 PM
@Bart you're pun goes un-noted....

@DroidDev Lol; >>link * cheapviagranow

@JasonC link added * cheapviagranow
:P

@rene what pun? ;)

Tim
@Oded Re my Test question:
How should I work out if it is a system wide problem or site specific?

@Tim you can post a question asking if it is so. Or - post a question on the specific site meta - we have ways to check that.
That is - by all means, if you find an issue on a site, post a bug report on that site meta. If you think this may be system wide, add your concern. Us devs can do testing that is not disruptive to other users of the network.
We see all questions on meta sites that are tagged as bugs.

Tim
@Oded okay thanks!
Just wanted to know
BTW it is site specific

No problem - and it may be that it isn't... we have over 130 sites, you know...

Tim
8:14 PM
Yes, I know (member of many - working hard to get them unblocked at school)... I wanted to get an initial idea of if it was or not. A lot seem to be either 1 or network wide - at least the ones i've found!

We have a few different designs, some are one offs, some have shared base designs.

WTH Y YOUTUBE NO WERK IN SAFARI BUT IN CHROME? I have them both on the "HTML 5 player".
me no like youtube
but need to waste time
While I'm at it, Y ME APARTMENT HALLWAY SMELL LIKE DEAD RAT POOP?

Tim
@bjb568 i didn't know dead raths pooped!

8:29 PM
Unfortunately… gags

@bjb568 well...you are a cat....kill lesser rats from now on :P

I like birds more.
It wasn't I who made the dead rat poop!

@bjb568 try killing an Ostrich :P

No ostriches here…

8:36 PM
Where will there be a school where I can do the first and second half of BC calc at the same time (AB and what my school called BC honors) in 9th grade?
me like here

when I was in 9th grade, I just used to bunk 60%-80% of the lectures and play hockey
I have no idea what you are talking about :P

user259867
Again this thing. Rejected

8:53 PM
@bjb568 Uh wut. Calc BC is usually a year-long course that covers all of the material of AB.

I know. AB is the first half of BC. My schools weird "BC honors" thing is for people who took AB last year, it's the second half of BC.

I'm wondering if a moderator can cancel a bounty (and give back the rep score to the person who set it). Consider the situation when the question is a very clear duplicate (but can't be marked as such because of the bounty).

Yes.

@Szabolcs Flag as Other and explain that the bounty prevents closing, add the duplicate in the comment

@rene I'm not asking someone to do it here. I was asking whether it was at all possible before I'd do the flagging.
Thanks, got it.

9:03 PM
welcome

eats more fish

On Meta Stack Overflow, there are a good amount of tag burnination requests that have been completed but not marked . 1) should these posts be marked status-complete if the tag is indeed burned, and 2) should I raise a custom moderator flag to have a mod apply the tag?

@gunr2171 You might want to make an MSO post asking that very question.

I'm considering that, just wanted to know if anyone had an opinion here before I asked

night... need sleep...

Lol

@JasonC I made it a MSO question
1
Q: Should I raise a flag to request a completed burninate request be tagged [status-complete]?

gunr2171I noticed a good amount of burninate-request here on meta which have been completed, but have not been marked status-complete. I went to 7 of these posts today, and after verifying that their tags have indeed been burned, I raised a custom moderator flag with the following formats: Please tag...

10:13 PM
Okay, planning on updating my bot. Finally. (cc @Inf)

Hiya!
How are you all?
room mode changed to Private: only approved users may enter this room (this should only be used for moderation purposes)
Hiya @SabreTooth

@Frank nooo
I need to go shopping…
Ugh.
Me no like.

Shopping ain't that bad sonny.

10:32 PM
@ShadowWizard That's not true.
Bot updated with more spam as spam & false-positives as known good.

user259867
10:56 PM
The tag has no wiki summary, can you help us create it?

11:17 PM
@hichris123 so how come we never see the bots posting questions from MSE with all caps, low quality, etc?

10kers should vote to delete this meta.stackexchange.com/q/63056/213575

@hichris123 oh, so why not in the Tavern?

user259867
But what's the point? They used to spam an answer in Avast question; now that the question got deleted, they spam another one. Surely it won't stop here. There is no damage from these suggestions; nobody is going to approve those edits on MSE. I'd say there is no reason even to post rejection requests: they can hang out there for a while until someone gets bored enough to check the review queue.

@ShadowWizard It shoulda posted it, I was just too lazy to get a Tavern link. ;)

user259867
11:26 PM
I saw that CLean SKin in the Tavern myself. And some time ago there was a troll posting on MSE in all caps specifically to get the question title channeled here.

user259867
That said, I must warn you...

user259867
> there have been clever answers by someone whose many ID changes cannot disguise her/his contempt for students. Pay no attention to anything she/he says. source

user259867
I never heard of negative searching. I thought the idea of any search was to find the most relevant existing answer, or to become convinced there isn't one. These two are accomplished in the same way: by forming a search query and looking at the results. What would I do differently for "negative search"?

user273376
@Frank g'day

@Rafflesiaarnoldii The search is accomplished the same way but the conclusion is drawn differently. A negative search is a "success" if you don't find any results. Like, you show that no relevant results exist. The problem being described is if you fuzzy the search results, it becomes harder to achieve success with a negative search, since its less apparent that no results exist.

11:39 PM
Wow that Server Fault election is distressing.

@Rafflesiaarnoldii You suspect "blobolopolotz" isn't a word, you Google for it to verify there are few results, but if you're hit with 20 billion fuzzied results of words that are kind of like it, you have to do a lot more work to prove your hypothesis. (Without fuzziness, it's easy).

user259867
Right. Those are the occasions to use +word, to make the search strict. I guess SE could borrow this syntax from Google.

user273376
CM's still hiding??

user259867
A bunch of diamonds weighing in here, including employees: Server Fault needs professional-quality questions, not just questions from professionals.

user259867
@SabreTooth Jon Ericson recently arrived.

user273376
11:51 PM
ah I see, however, he is shaded, so I guess busy?

user273376
I'll come back later

user259867
@SabreTooth Icons fade out with inactivity. If you arrive to a room and don't say anything for N minutes, your icon begins to fade out. This may well mean "doing something else", but not necessarily "busy, can't talk".

user259867
In any case, it's rare that an issue (a) can be brought up in public chat; and (b) absolutely needs the help of a CM and not just a mod or experienced users...
