@Unihedron nice. Two of the other answers on that are approaching link only. There's only one actual detailed solution there.

impressive.
wonder if they are all legit (they actually needed editing)

so, annoying edits
I clicked on two and both were tag additions as well

I'm going to flag for mod attention. I can't stand this anymore. He's been flooding the queues with his intention of "high quality answers" for the past few ~500 suggested edits..

in Charcoal HQ on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, Sep 10 at 18:07, by Andy
Baba has at least one instance of a new phone number format

... hmm
that didn't work :P

@Andy I thought the other PR with the new regex catches it now, but I'm not sure.

@Unihedron Marc Gravell just slammed down one of his attempts, so I'm guessing that mods are onto him.

@rlemon I linked that.

^ We can tune this and make it awesome

Oh yeah!

Sam
Phamhilatorâ„¢ stopped.
wth is going on here.

3:19 PM
We can add a command to have Smokey learn new spam. Like !!/learn spam some.site.com/questions/123
(this is assuming the bayesian thing actually works)

But first :)
Make a back up!

of what?
the code itself?

Give access to Jan for this command @Undo, if you add it. Then Jan can post spam reports in that format in the tavern

I'd likely give it to everyone rep>x
if we get that from chat.

@uni: git projects don't need extra backups.

3:22 PM
No, I meant the current data for the spam control, but I just realized there isn't one, so never mind. :)

This would be in addition to the regexes.

@Unihedron if you haven't already, pick a bad edit that got approved and leave a comment for the editor politely noting why the tags don't benefit the question. Then roll it back.
Make sure you actually pick a bad edit. These appear to be somewhat scattershot.

@Shog9 I think I left a comment once. I'll do that then.

If baba's phone number format has changed, then does @Jan need to update the spam canary?

3:31 PM
@Shog9 aren't there some rate limits to suggested edits?

they're pretty generous

ok

Once you've had 1K+ edits approved in a given week, it's not really gonna slow you down

oh, so its proportional, cool

@Shog9, is there any way we could get a quick dump of spam titles early, for use in a bayesian classifier extension thing for Smokey?

@Undo how many lines is a hello world in android?

@uni hello world is ready with new project. :P

I personally dislike any hybrid technology @Sil, so am safe in that regard.
10 lines @Braiam

If i am an employee of a company then i had to follow what my boss say. Boss is always right @inf

3:38 PM
But the wizard generates it in a new project if you use an IDE @Braiam.

What i currently do
@Briam no lines to write

@InfiniteRecursion is an app that prints in the screen a "hello world" message? or it does from the compiler?

Ok, so you are an Android professional @Sil, that's nice. I do it as a hobby, so no hybrid for me.

... What's hybrid? srry iz noob

@Unihedron using books for enchanting swords and shovels isn't reading, you know.

3:41 PM
It's an app that prints hello world, and runs if you install on a phone or emulator @Braiam.

@SPArchaeologist I stand corrected.

@uni according me its a mixture of multiple plateforms. Currently i am doing an app which mixture of phonegap as well as native android

I've heard of Phonegap. I think.

@Uni: hybrid is one code that runs on multiple platforms, so basically never runs properly on any platform. Its like one shoe size for all.

@Inf: :D !

3:44 PM
Its true, hybrid technologies are used to make it easier for developer to develop and difficult for user to use.

Nopes. @inf depends on what we are trying achieve. If its a normal like data send receive or map and camera its working fine with PhoneGap while to work on image processing or open cv or GL surface it create issue
Even it is difficult for developer sometime. Most of the hybrid apps always having patches

Patches. Hmm.

Yup.. and i hate that.

Q: Struggling between native and phonegap, simple app requirements

Henrik SkogmoI'm going to make a native (meaning; not in the browser) mobile app. Since I'm a web-developer I'm struggling to decide whether or not I should try Phonegap or just build an native app in java or objective-c. The app requirements are simple. GPS/wifi location, Facebook integration and I guess I'...

@Unihedron I've caught that

Is there and/or logic available for filters in the queue? Like asked here

I think if you write multiple tags, it's an "or" logic.

Hmmm, I hoped it could work as how search works...

That is one way, but I rather have control in the filter dialog.

4:29 PM
I wish try-catch would actually catch the error thrown in try...

@3ventic Which language you code in?

@Unihedron is there a reason you posted that? btw, you're missing one continent , @santa would be displeased

@lostsock Yeah, there is, and the reason hides behind Inf's removed message. It's too late to get rid of it now. Also the two continents are in the center. :)

@LynnCrumbling y u beg for reopen then..

@rene But it really depends whether they need to replicate On Error Resume Next exactly...

6:52 PM
sorry, I can delete it if you want?

@rene Nah, I wanted to get it reopened so that I can post a much much longer answer.

@LynnCrumbling yeah, that makes it unclear/ too broad/ unanswerable

@SmokeDetector spam

@Unihedron 1 more

@rene Do it.
@Andy Duuuur

6:54 PM
It really comes down to : Do you want to replicate this EXACTLY.. or... do you want to Do-The-Right-Thing (tm) ... meaning try {} catch {} the code that can exception out, and act on each exception correctly and according (logging as the legacy code does, or whatever..)

On Error Resume Next is never the right thing to do.* The OP needs to know that he's looking at code that was done by a novice.

@LynnCrumbling I can see where you answer would go. ...
Is your answer ready to post?

* ok, ok.. there was a SINGLE time in my coding career where I HAD to use resume next, but I explored every possible alternative thoroughly, and had no choice by to make the Faustian deal.
I'll type it up now.
