then people bribe cats all the times!

Crap! My answer got 8 downvotes magically overnight. stackoverflow.com/a/24988713/2371861

The cat didn't know what it was approving

Don't bribe cats.

@bjb568 And quite a few comments...

3:03 PM
(Magically = Benjamin and SO chat room 17)
Is bandwagon voting vote fraud?

@bjb568 Sounds like a good meta question...

Thanks for the revenge downvotes on my questions from 2012. Clever of you to downvote old questions of mine - doesn't cost you the one rep of answers that way. The fact you'd still focus on finding revenge rather than fixing your answer (which you should definitely do) is extremely disappointing. I hoped you've improved since our last conversation :/ — Benjamin Gruenbaum 2 mins ago
^ WTH?
I can't believe he says that after bandwagon voting me.
Flagged, gone.

@bjb568 Your profile says you've only been here for 1 yr, 2 months. That wouldn't be 2012.
@bjb568 or is he referring to his questions from 2012

"Thanks for the revenge downvotes on my questions."

@bjb568 oh

Is there any way to list what off-topic reason a question has been closed for in the SEDE?
PostHistoryTypeId = 10 is closed, if the comment is set to 102 then it is OT.
But no way to get this connected to ClosedAsOffTopicReasonTypes.
Hrm, PendingFlags looks interesting.
Nope, no ball

Q: Is bandwagon voting thru chat voting fraud?

bjb568 Voting with socks is abuse, since the socks don't evaluate the quality of the post, the votes are low quality. Serial voting is abuse, since you don't fully evaluate the quality of every post, the votes are low quality. Should bandwagon voting thru chat (i.e. asking for everyone to up/down-vot...

^ Let's see what happens in Room 17.
I swear Benjamin has a notification every time I post.

@bjb568 lol. hes here.

Damnit. He's here.

I'm sorry I wasn't aware Tavern on the Meta was private domain.

Get off my lawn!!

@Bart ... your lawn apparently isn't very green. It's... blue?

my lawn is dead.

@hichris123 well, the grass on the other side is always greener ...
3

o/

@bjb568 you did do those things though.
And it is not the first time.

3:30 PM
Proof, please?

Two answers that are low profile get random downvotes, immediately following a comment from you... you don't have to be a genius to add 1 + 1.

That's 3, right? Right?
2

@bjb568 notice how we didn't respond spitefully to your post? We're not assholes in room 17. Haven't you notice that you meet most everybody with hostility and many many repetative "this is crap" posts?

That's a bad assumption @Bart

@bjb568 in any case can you use the mod flag if you have a specific issue with Benji instead of the public one, or you two can discuss this in private and not bog down the chat?

3:32 PM
This is rather than... I don't know, fixing your answer? Which would have taken you three minutes. I can't speak for others but I would have gladly reverted that downvote to an upvote.

@Andy it's not an assumption, it's an estimation with a certain margin of error.

@MartijnPieters Does this get you close? data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/201658/…

@Andy Those are pending votes.
I am looking for stats on posts already closed.

Ah. I haven't seen one yet then. Sorry.

@SterlingArcher You don't respond spitefully to my posts? You treat me like crap there. I'm a "douche", "pocket troll", "asshole" to you guys. Benjamin has a feed of my posts to abuse me on every one!

3:36 PM
@Andy np, thanks for looking though!

@rlemon I asked a question on meta. How is that wrong?

@bjb568 because you're hostile to everybody!

Let's stop here guys.

You are being hostile to one another right now.

@bjb568 you flagged from the transcript in the JS room

3:37 PM
Both sides are.

@bjb568 stop responding. @SterlingArcher stop responding. @rlemon stop responding.
3

@rlemon Hell yeah, I did.

Take a break.
3
Get a drink, whatever.

Kindly take that somewhere else or take a break.

I'm just pointing out that if you want a discussion with Benji then maybe have it with him and not engage the rest of the chat
@hichris123 I'm trying to move them along thanks. ;)

3:38 PM
Fine, but I'm just tired of people getting mad at the whole JS room.

If I give all of you a baseball bat with nails in it, will you just take it outside and beat each other to a pulp like gentlemen so I can simply hose down the street later on? I don't like bloodsplatter inside the Tavern.

Take it to the Trash Can

I think I have a BFG900 kicking around somewhere you can borrow.

@MartijnPieters that spells certain doom

user163250

Oh shoot.. that reminds me I forgot to eat breakfast again :(

Is anyone else having problems with the websockets?

3:40 PM
@hichris123 no

> WebSocket connection to 'wss://qa.sockets.stackexchange.com/' failed: Error in connection establishment: net::ERR_TIMED_OUT

@bjb568 what are you talking about?

SE is kind of slow for me

@hichris123 I've been meaning to ask that -- I see that error all the time in my console

@Braiam you're too fast for SE

user163250
3:41 PM
@Bart if I'm going to go out, I'd rather do it in a big crumbly pile of glory across my enemy's face.

@Oded? Did someone break the websockets?

@Bart I will take that as compliment

@Bart I was hoping it would!

@bjb568 The last three times in chat I spoke about you it was positively.... The last one when you made a useful edit on one of my posts (that NodeJS one). I upvoted two of your answers the other day because I liked them...
I'm definitely not holding a grudge. I don't even dislike you...

user163250
@Bart it's a proper warrior's death.

3:43 PM
@bjb568 I won't like and say that I like you, you've ground my gears a few times by acting mean to users on the chat... but I certainly don't hold a grudge... I like most people who take time to contribute to Stack Overflow and especially ones that take time to moderate and copy edit..

I have no idea why you'd think I'm following you specifically or am paying any attention to your posts in particular... I'd love to interact with you in a civil manner but I do not intend to apologize for downvoting an answer so you'd correct it.

@hichris123 Websockets appear to be working fine for me...

@BenjaminGruenbaum: They already left this chat room, btw.

3:46 PM
@SantaClaus huh.

@hichris123 We are out of websockets for today...

Yes, they work for me too. ChatExchange has no problems getting the newest messages.

They work, but there are lots of console errors every now and then

@SterlingArcher Never seen em'

user163250
Anyone know how to remove the opacity from downvoted answers?: stackoverflow.com/questions/24988686/…

3:49 PM
Hmm, leave your console open a while, maybe you'll see it.

user163250
It must be some overlaid div or something...

@Cupcake .downvoted-answer { opacity:1; }
It's also colored grey-ish

@MartijnPieters try to talk to someone :/

But that's the class

user163250
@SterlingArcher thank you.

3:51 PM
Sure thing
(function() {
    [].forEach.call(document.getElementsByClassName("downvoted-answer"), function(el) {
        el.style.color = "black";
        el.style.opacity = 1;
    });
})();
that... should (hopefully) be a little userscript to remove the opacity and shading

user163250
Did they take the 3D view mode out of the Firefox dev tools?

user163250
I can't seem to find it.

user163250

Try Box Model?

user163250
@SterlingArcher I clicked on that, but it just brings up the flat box diagram. It's ok, I don't really need the 3d view.

3:59 PM
@BenjaminGruenbaum I am fully aware that the chat system leaves you a message if you have been pinged even if you have left the room. But several room members here asked you to take this elsewhere, and at least bjb did so.

@Cupcake sorry, my userscript was a fail. Here's a working version if you're still interested (I'm bored)
(function() {
    [].forEach.call(document.getElementsByClassName("downvoted-answer"), function(el) {
        el.classList.remove("downvoted-answer");
    });
})();

user163250
@SterlingArcher it works! Thank you thank you!

Hooray! That was actually my first working userscript

^ Can somebody tell this guy that micro optimization is evil somehow?

/me mumbles something about not every fight being worth fighting

@Bart I can't minimize it, then :(

@Bart Aw fine.

4:23 PM
The hunger.. it's so real... can't even...

@hichris123 huh?

WS works for me.
Great. And I've read it. Overall I'm not impressed by it. Attitudes like that are holding back the field of programming, its why every new version of software I get runs slower than it did on my old computer. And with Moore's law dieing its going to punch us in the balls very soon. But even ignoring that you're mis-applying what he meant. He meant not to throw out an easy solution with a more complicated but slightly more efficient solution. You're throwing out the easy solution (a trivial regex) for a more complicated and less efficient solution. That's a fail. — Gabe Sechan 4 mins ago
^ Wow.
Because we aren't micro-optimizing, technology is getting slower. The sky is falling.

4:52 PM
I don't think that's what he meant

5:08 PM
@Oded the websockets are timing out for me.

5:24 PM
@hichris123 browser/OS/general location?

@Oded Chrome 37, Win 7, Midwest US
It works part of the time, but part of the time it just times out.

37? Is that canary?

Dev.

Could be that then... something changed there? I am on Windows 7, Chrome 36, no problem.

Maybe, that would make sense.

5:31 PM
Mind you, we did deploy a few changes to the socket server today, so that could also be it... Would kill the socket while the server cycled back up.
Though the client does have retry logic and this should all be transparent.

Hmm. That might have been it.

Hold on a second.
Norepro on my side either. I guess things have fixed themselves.

Before I go meta.so, does anybody know if this is possible?

Is this an appropriate place to ask a "why my edit was rejected" question? I disagree with the rejection reason, as it would be dubious to argue that because of my edit, "...the original meaning or intent of the post would be lost." But I was thrice rejected for this reason. I don't get it.

@Frank Sure, if you don't believe the rejection was accurate make a post. You'll be better received if you frame it from a 'help me understand' perspective, of course.

@Andy yes. @Undo Thank you. Help me understand, please. I was trying to improve the post by making the user-provided sample data more appropriate / accessible given the [r] tag.

@Frank oh yeah, the general consensus is that suggested edits shouldn't touch sample code beyond formatting.

@Undo OK, noted! I'll not spend any more time doing that, though I do think what I did was an improvement. ;)

@User.1 you can read about it in detail in the question I linked to, but basically, FGITW questions are the kind that are so basic and easy that they create situations where a bunch of people compete to give the fastest answer possible, and the questions thus get a bunch of similar or identical answers within just a few minutes of being asked.
