I have no specific plans, chilling and exploring the area a bit. Yeah, the bike would be to get around, bus and BART are cool but expensive in the long run.
Oh yeah! :) I definitely do. I almost feel like I'm living here already. Got a Safeway club card and a checking account....
Although american "share the road" roads really scare me a bit. I've done a lot of city cycling in Cologne and London, and never been scared before... but maybe that goes away once I'm on the road and in the flow.
Right, that sounds like it might be the key. It's definitely how the bicyclists here behave - probably with good reason :)
Driving a car was no problem at all, though. I did 1500 miles last week and I've never had such a relaxed time on the road. German drivers tend to be much more aggressive and impatient
the few times we've driven up to San Francisco, we've taken the highway that's right along the coast. It's so beautiful and serene. Truckers usually take the freeway that goes from the inside since it's a shorter route

> Ask Patents was designed in collaboration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Peer To Patent, whose efforts empowering citizens to help find prior art inspired our approach to prior art discovery. We are also working with Google to leverage the power of Google Patents Search and Google's new Prior Art Finder.

You can't see it without being in the private beta, but it has a new about page that looks (at a glance) friendly and polished.
What are the qualifications to join the private beta (since it wasn't an Area51 proposal)?

> I found prior art. Now what? You want to stop a patent from being granted in error? Finding prior art is just step one. Succinctly describing its significance is step two, and submitting it to the USPTO is step three. While patent examiners can search this site, the best way to ensure they see your discovery is to submit it using the USPTO electronic filing system, launching on September 16, 2012.
> Google Patents is helping with prior art browsing and discovery. Google’s new Prior Art Finder searches for relevant inventions that precede the publication of a pending patent application. Hit “Discuss” at any patent or application on Google Patents and you’ll arrive at Ask Patents, where you can view questions about the invention or prior art or ask your own.
As you probably know, "Voting on meta is used as an expression of agreement or disagreement on contributions, rather than to point out a lack of quality or helpfulness".
However, this doesn't seem to apply to discussion in certain cases, my reasoning below.
Let's suppose we have this discussion...
