Why doesn't the edit screen remember my edit reason from before anymore (within 5-minute grace period)?

@animuson Um, yeah. It's there to stop newbies from "closing" their own questions

Q: Warn or block users from flooding the frontpage with edits

Mad ScientistIt happens quite regularly that some enthusiastic user goes ahead and fixes some problem with a tag and edits a lot of posts in a short time. This can have a very negative effect on the fronpage of a site, especially on slow-moving sites. These mass-edits displace new questions and answers from t...

Wow. This is WSOiN deletion thing is getting heated.

3:43 PM
Not surprising. That's definitely gone on my "stay far away from" list, heh.

Do you just not feel strongly about it, or do you just want to stay away from the rage?

Not that much rage so far
Just a lot of disagreements
That said, I'm surprised SE Inc. hasn't discussed openly what should be done (radically) about moderation with regards to low quality submission
If I took the top 30 questions from my front page, I can tell you almost every one of them needs editing / closure just by looking at their title/tags
It's impossible to work in a system like that

@TimYiJiang Truth. I get sort of depressed by the tags I answer in for just that reason.

4:07 PM
@jadarnel27 I have an opinion, I just have zero interest in getting drawn in. I've got too much else to do to be wasting my time arguing over something like that, heh.
For instance, I haven't added you in Diablo III. :O

gasp indeed! Where are your priorities, man?

I know, I'm so ashamed!
And hungry, I am also quite hungry...

I added someone I sort-of-know the other day (a guy that's dating my friend's sister). He then started insta-joining my games every time he logs on and I'm in a game.
Which is often while I'm fighting some damn unique pack of monsters, and so I die.

Oh, that's no fun

Yeah. It's an awkward situation. I thought the whole "ask before joining" was an obvious social protocol. But I guess not.

@jadarnel27 You can join parties in D3 without invitation, with consequences for the existing players?

Disliking confrontation as I do, I disabled quick join in my options rather than talk to him about it.
@JeremyBanks Yeah, monster health increases dramatically in proportion to the number of players in the game.

Ah, yeah

@JeremyBanks I didn't realize the "allow friends to join without invitation" was an option (enabled by default) until the other day. It is limited to people you're "Real ID" friends with or whatever.

So that EU privacy regulation requiring all websites to inform users of the fact that they use cookies is now been complied by by websites
I'm seeing these popups everywhere now

@jadarnel27 Ah, that's less horrible, though it still seems like a bad default. I think you still can't block people from joining parties in SC2, but since that's not while you're actually in-game it's not as bad.

Blizzard was very slow and negligent in providing effective blocking options for SC2. You'd think that seeing chat messages of racial slurs appearing during broadcast games would motivate them, but apparently not much...

@JeremyBanks Haha, yeah. I think the setting I have now is better (people can still try to join my party / game, but I have to click "approve" first). I don't mind the guy joining, but I prefer to wait for a moment where it won't kill all of us =)
@JeremyBanks That really sucks =/ I rarely played multiplayer on SC2. Just the campaign. So I didn't experience that so much.

@jadarnel27 Did you ever ladder, or just customs?

@JeremyBanks Just customs. Very briefly, I was good enough to win in random 2 v 2 games.
This might be weird, but I found it...stressful =) So I never moved beyond that, and eventually went back to just single player.

Anonymous
I empathize, multiplayer SC2 (1v1 in particular) can be very stressful. Lots of folks mention "ladder anxiety". I don't really play anymore, just watch. :P

Haha, glad I'm not alone there. I always felt so frantic trying to manage the beginning of the game.

4:33 PM
What's that handy site for demoing SQL?

@TimYiJiang Thanks

This obvious behavior never occurred to me before: sqlfiddle.com/#!3/77a8b/5

Set theory!

4:42 PM
Indeed.

Hmm? Yup, I asked @TimStone about that the other day

At any rate, that magically saved my butt this morning.

Oh yeah?

I had added a disjunctive clause (and forgot to surround it with parentheses) to a stored procedure and generated a bunch of duplicate stat pay accruals.

Ah ha. Yeah, I imagine that wouldn't have been good.

4:50 PM
But the code to generate cheques, etc. unions the stat pay table with the payroll table, so it didn't actually hurt anything.
Except the data integrity, of course.
We'll not go into why there are no unique keys in that table.

Minor details :P

stares outside and wonders where the 110km/hr winds went.
lol, local news: A tree has been blown over.
NO REALLY?

6:10 PM
What kind of wimpy, Canadian tree falls down because of 110 made-up-unit-that-isn't-miles/hr winds?

Probably a stupid elm tree.
> Look at me, I provide lots of shade when I'm not busy crapping seeds and leaves all over the place, fallling over or havng my roots punch holes in your basement -- Stupid elm tree

Hahaha
It's odd that the elm tree would sign like that. It's rather self-deprecating.

@AkashM: Haha, it had to get done somehow. Better to do it now while the number is still low than later when the number is higher and it's virtually impossible... It's hard to mass retag on Meta because of the low activity. :/

6:33 PM
I'd really like to be able to hit the up arrow on my keyboard to edit a comment I just submitted.
In the children's section of our local library. Proof that it really is tough to write a good title.

Do they have a book about Justin Bieber?

I don't even know if such a thing exists.

I'd settle for a picture book. o.o

I bet you would.

Ah there we go. Now I'm re-thinking sitting next to a large window.

6:55 PM
Just wondering: I'm finding that quite a few (mostly high-rep) users have different usernames on MSO than elsewhere on the Stack Exchange Network. For example, BoltClock on SO is BoltClock's a Unicorn on MSO and Neal on SO is amanaP lanaC A nalP A naM A on MSO. Is there a reason for this, or is this just for fun?

Just for funsies.

Okay, just changed my username for MSO:
:)

I should rename to Justin Bieber :o

@DragonLord Haha, well done. It's sort of a meme. See here, here, here, and here.

Regarding the question title filter and ways to circumvent it: This one was funny.
p-r-o-b-l-e-m? LOL!

7:15 PM
@DragonLord Haha, that's excessive. It's funny how some people's response to "Don't put that word in the title" is to put incomprehensible garbage into the title instead.
(Rather than reconsidering the wording of the title entirely)

"Take out the trash" obviously means take the trash out of the can and place it on the floor around the can.

@jadarnel27 ...which did happen on revision 2 of the question.

@DragonLord Right, I saw that =) Ended up with a much clearer title, in my opinion.

@Shog9 is it possible to confirm the email I got from aarthi@stackexchange.com is the real deal and not some elaborate phishing scam?

@Flexo Uh... Hang on.

Check the email headers to see if it actually originated from Stack Exchange servers?

@Flexo If it was about election candidate swag, then it was legit. If it was about signing on to some "cosmetology" proposal, it was probably phishing.

Likewise, if it was an excited request to be your best friend, it's a 50/50 split in either direction.

9:53 PM
Oooh.

Aaah.
