7:09 PM
@user400654 My exact guess is it is because of the Women of React conference they did (was a Twitter based thing - I know of because our Python group was pointing people to it). Yet again - is this a women in coding thing or the React community was really terrible for women until she arrived (which is just not true)
I don't remember her parts in that (though I attended a bit of it) but then I only really paid attention to the technical parts and only partially even then (was only attending in case I needed to help a few students later)

7:27 PM
Just asked my 250th question on the site
(non-deleted)

😴

Is it sad that I tend to use the (public) docs and training other colleges offer faculty over the training my own college(s) offers?

IMO that's the correct approach. use the docs out there everyone else uses, and push for them to be improved when it's necessary, for the betterment of everyone.

@user1271772 so close ...

Good evening everyone! ^_^
Or morning, or afternoon, or night
Depends where you are

Evening works for me
for 45 minutes or so

Technically it's night here but I'm not sleeping so
Yay for not sleeping

Depends at what time you need to wake-up

I have no schedule :,D

9:23 PM
I can normally plan my day as I wish but tomorrow morning I have a call I need to attend and I need to be fresh / awake in that call, so ... not sleeping is not option this time for me

I just need to be awake enough to not sleep all day

That sound like a reasonable goal.

Assuming you don't have to drive a car or things were you can't afford to nap off.

Nope
I just sit in my room all day
Either homework, or drawing, or procrastinating

9:26 PM
What do you draw? What kind of techniques do you use?

I draw in a sort of cartoon/anime style
Either in my sketchbook or on my computer

I guess I could have guessed the cartoon/anime style.
Do you first make a sketch in the book and then go for real on the computer?

Sometimes I do
Most times I either just do the whole thing on one or the other

9:41 PM
Is that something you do in one day or is it something that you work on for several days?

Depends on the scale of the drawing
If it's a bigger illustration then maybe a couple days
If it's just a sketch then it's just a little time in the evening

Did you learn this drawing skill yourself or did you take a class?

Myself
Started with tutorials on YouTube and Google images
Then just went with the flow

Nice!

^_^ it's a lot of fun

9:47 PM
I can imagine. Learning a skill by your own and getting better and better at it is very rewarding.

Yep
I especially love making up characters and making stories
And drawing their stories is fun

I see. It has multiple aspects. That is challenging. Good.

Yeah it can be a challenge at times
Especially drawing backgrounds or objects ~that aren't teacups, pencils or knives~

@EleezatheCharacterWizard isn't the background the first thing you draw?

Nope
I go foreground first
When it comes to backgrounds I resort to just a bunch of glowey lights at most times

9:54 PM
Not a city or trees? mountains?
I might show my Bob Ross influence here ....

Depends...one time it was a school theatre, another it was a high-street...once it was a train station

Trainstation sounds cool.

I'm still learning ^_^;

We all are.

Actually, I'm illustrating for a video-game project I'm making so...I should learn backgrounds lol
Specifically, how to draw the inside of a classroom, a storage cupboard, a workshop...

9:59 PM
sometimes all it needs is the bare essence of the object. Not adding a lot of detail but removing the fluff.

True
I mean, I can draw a few objects half-decently

Then the video game is about those few objects.

k n i v e s
I mean literally, that's like the whole story haha

you can draw those

Yep
I can send a picture of the two characters in question if you'd like

10:05 PM
sure. Let's have it.

My computer is very slow at sending images

I see the glowly lights in the background ;)

Haha yep
It's even better when I get to put coloured lights on the hair and eyes
Very fun

Yeah. I like it

10:11 PM
So this goes into the video game as well?

Yep
These are the two main characters

Cool. And I guess that is not a couple of days project then?

It'll take a long tim
e
a l o n g t i m e

a life project
I know these.

Not really for life...
More for a year at most
It's my first proper game project

10:15 PM
that is serious time. But worth it.

I hope it will be
I don't want to spend so long on this and then drop it because I got stuck

You will learn so much of this, even if you get stuck.

Yeah, I suppose I will...
But I am dead set on making it

That is the spirit

Maybe it's because I'm too emotionally attached to the story at this point to quit

10:19 PM
That is a natural thing. As long as you enjoy it and make progress or see ways to make progress you'll get it done.

Thanks, I really do hope so
I've quit big projects in the past before

And it will be challenging enough. You'll need to learn a lot, which is fun.

I like learning
Especially when it's to make fun things

rightfully so

I've started planning it out
And started making a soundtrack so I can get a feel for the mood of the game
And it works as motivation
I like music

10:25 PM
the nice thing about a game is that brings so many creative process together that then gets glued to one piece with some magic programming code

That's why I like games
I can practice all of my skills at once

Yeah. I'm useless when it comes to game development. I lack most skills needed.

Tbh I have very little clue as to what I'm doing
But I'm doing it anyway (shrug emotion)

Meh, you'll be fine.

Yeah
I mean there's a lot of things where I just pretend to know what I'm doing and I turn out fine
Like music
And homework

10:32 PM
You have the right brain for it.

it shows already, that is not a maybe

Heh...well, y'know what, I think I might actually get this done!
I mean, I'm optimistic

Being optimistic helps
a lot

Took me a while to learn that but I know it now

10:38 PM
good!

:D
Anyways uh... I'd better get going now
It's quite late

it is. Enjoy your night.

Goodbye
